Puri (Puffed Flat Bread). We have patron pakeeza numerous time and more or less we ordered the same dishes. That day, we were feeling adventurous and ordered something different - Puri. It was made of flour and deep fried till it puffed up like a ball. The middle park was empty. The puri was plain in flavour and it was slightly crispy. We had to dip this with gravy to get some taste.

Plain nasi beriyani. That day we already ordered some meat dishes i.e lamb and chicken, we just ordered the plain nasi beriyani to go with the dishes. The rice was topped with spring onions and some carrot shreds. There was different shades of the yellow of rice. The rice was eaten by itself, it was plain but fragrant with a type of herb. It definitely has to be eaten together with the gravy.

Mutton Dopiaza. The mutoon dish was being stirred fried with some onions and topped with spring onions. The mutton was very fragrant due to the amount of herbs the chef used. It was slightly salty and definitely has to been eaten with naan or rice. I love the thick, creamy gravy. The onions were crispy and gave a tint of pungent flavour. The lamb was soft and easily bitten.

Sesame Naan. Whenever I patron Pakeeza, my favourite naan would be garlic naan. This time, I ordered a sesame naan as I wanted to try some other variety of naan. The naan was grilled to golden brown as the brown color was clearly seen at the side. It was crispy and the naan was thick and soft. The naan itself was tasteless but the sesame added extra fragrant to it. Not a salty naan.

Pakeeza Fried Rice. As we don't feel like eating beriyani, we ordered their signature pakeeza fried rice. It came with lettuce, cucumber and papadam. The fried rice was topped with spring onions and some carrot shreds. The rice tasted just normal to me, slightly spicy. It has a little bit of herbs taste. It was being nicely fried though as it has some "wok hei".

Chicken Vandaloo. The chicken came with potato sprinkled with spring onions. The chicken was very big piece and the meat was not too tough. The gravy was spicy, creamy and it has green chili to spike up the spiciness further. It has very strong herbs smell and quite salty. Definately has to mix with some rice to go with it. The potato was soft and coated with the gravy nicely.

Green Peas Masala. The green peas masala came with button mushrooms. The masala gravy has some ginger slices in it that gave it a ginger fragrant and gingerly spicy. It was also very creamy and spicy. It also have some onions to add further aroma. The button mushrooms were big, fat and juicy. The green peas were a lot and soft. The whole combination was so good until I can't stop eating it.

Palak Paneer. House of Pakeeza serves one of the best palak paneer around and it is my definate must-order item when I patron this restaurant. The palak paneer literally is spinach with cheese. The spinach was nicely blended with the cheese to give it a very smooth and creamy texture. It was not too salty as just the right amount of cheese was used. It was a very healthy dish.

Nothing like a good cup of tea after a heavy meal. The masala tea in Pakeeza tastes almost like our local teh tarik, but with a stronger hint of spice. According to the waitress, they use ground ginger, cardamom and some cinnamon to spice up the tea. Served piping hot, they give sachets of sugar for you to add to your tastes. I like my beverages super sweet, hence two sachets will normally be added. Simply delish!

Somehow I feel that the green peas masala with mushroom uses frozen peas that we can purchase from the frozen food section, however my colleague beg to differ. I am not a huge fan, but my colleague swears by it. The green peas were cooked well, not too soft or mushy. The mushrooms were also done acceptably, with lots of masala spice. I would probably stick to the bendi masala instead.

The bendi, or more commonly known as ladies’ finger, is one of my favourite type of greens, if they are cooked well. A good dish of ladies’ finger should not be slimy, and Pakeeza has definitely exceeded expectations on this one. A delicate dish, as the ladies’ finger are sliced thinly, cooked together with lots of Indian spice, mainly masala. I normally have this with either naan or it also goes very well with rice.

At first glance, this dish doesn’t look very appetising. Finely chopped green bayam cooked with cheese until it resembles a gooey mashed texture, reminds me of those jars of baby food. However, the taste is really something different. The vegetable taste blends very well with cheese, and seasoned slightly with Indian spices. It can be eaten on its own, or taken with rice. Very nice!

I have a friend named Gobi who likes this dish very much, as he is always the source of our amusement whenever we order this dish. Chunks of potato and cauliflower cooked to perfection with spices, presumably turmeric due to the dish’s yellow colour. It is not spicy at all, but full of fragrant spice. The dish goes very well with either naan bread or rice. Thumbs-up!

The waitress in Pakeeza suggested for us to try their mango lassi, and it was delicious! Sweet Indian mango blended with plain yoghurt, some milk and a tiny bit of sugar, it was a great complement to the meal. Smooth and delectable, it also makes a great after-meal dessert. I thought I detected some taste of spice, but am not sure if it is cinnamon or cardamom. Definitely recommended!

Butter chicken boneless, as the name suggests, is chunks of chicken meat, presumably breast, being cooked in a wet buttery gravy that goes very well with any bread or rice. The butter gravy is flavoured with Indian spices, which gives a slightly different flavour compared to the Chinese butter gravy style. Slightly salty, but it is fine as it complements my garlic naan very well.
