The chicken rice shop sells chicken rice and few other items with chicken as main ingredient in it. Things like noodles and porridge are also available. It is fantastic that they are working towards bringing more variety for dinners so the choices becomes more diverse when customers choice to dine in any chicken rice shop outlet. While chicken rice shop is popularly known to be selling chicken rice, one should also know that they have more than just chicken rice to offer. I tried the prawn BBQ chicken wan tan mee noodle. I was rather impressed with how it was so similar to the halal wan tan mee. As peculiar as it is, this one do have its own unique style. But I see this item as a little overpriced for it costs Rm 13.99.

There really is nothing fascinating about the Chicken Rice Shop, but I decided to post this anyway because I thought the price is somewhat really reasonable. I was in the Chicken Rice Shop recently and I spend a little longer looking at their menu. That was when I realized that it is actually not bad for value for money. I ordered the healthy meal comprising of the steamed chicken breast, chicken rice, braised tofu and egg, beans sprout, soup of the day and the soya bean. All for the price of Rm

OK, this one I like.. although I have to say that at RM7.50 for a regular plate, it's super expensive compared to what I can get at stalls and hawker centers. Mostly what maketh a good Rojak dish is it's Rojak paste. In this respect, Chicken Rice Shop certainly doesn't disappoint. The paste is rich enough with hae ko shrimps, tamarind and black bean extract.. and almost every other ingredient that makes a good paste. When it comes to braised items on the menu; I much prefer Chicken Rice Shop's Braised Egg over their Braised Tofu. Not sure why, but for some reason their Braised Tofu runs a bit short on taste, texture, and almost everything else. Almost to the point of being rather bland actually. Hmm.. I really don't think they braised the tofu long enough, and also the tofu they bought is pretty tough..

Actually the prawn wantons at The Chicken Rice Shop really ain't bad. Sometimes we Wanton lovers are just so used to the pork filling version we never really attempt the "halal" version which is mostly prawn filling, and which is the version normally found in halal eating establishments and shopping mall food courts. But I love this version. The prawns are actually whole prawns and tasted juicy; and served in a bowl of soup. I super love it!

This one is only average, so-so. Nothing bad, but nothing great either. I really have tasted much better Soy Sauce Chicken elsewhere. Hmm... the chicken meat sometimes are tender, sometimes are tough. Really not that consistent. But what's most important for any Soy Sauce Chicken is it's soy sauce. In this respect Chicken Rice Shop did not really excel. The soy sauce used seems to be rather bland, just straight from the bottle without sprucing it up with any other ingredients.. hmm...

Whenever I have the chance to patron a specialized chicken rice restaurant, I would not miss a chance to order the Ipoh beansprouts as I love the texture. The Chicken Rice Shop beansprouts were topped with some spring onions. The beansprouts were long and fat, thus the crunchy and juicy texture. Together with the salty soy sauce, I enjoyed this dish very much.

After doing my grocery shopping in Giant, I walked into The Chicken Rice Shop to get my lunch fixed. I ordered the crispy roast chicken drumstick with rice. It came along with soup of the day. The chicken meat was moist and tender, it was slightly salty. The outer part was roast till golden brown and very flavourful. The chili was full of garlic taste, tangy and a little bit spicy.

The Giant Hypermarket at Kelana Jaya's pretty old (almost a decade already) and so are the eateries in there. There's no much choices, really.. so when me and my sister visited we decided on Chicken Rice Shop as it was about the most decent-looking establishment there. Food-wise we weren't disappointed. The chicken were tender and well-prepared. My favorites were steamed, roasted , BBQ, soy sauce and the new varuval chicken.. well spiced indeed. yums ;D The tofu, pai tees and bean sprouts aint b
