After having the Teochew Chendul outside the cafe. We decided to grab some light bites from Joo Hooi Cafe. I was told by my friend that we should eat the Yam Cake here. For only RM 2 per piece. I think it's a good try. We ordered two yam cakes and some kuih from this stall in Joo Hooi CafeThe aunty or owner of the stall is so friendly that she greet and talked to us Knowing I'm not from local by hearing my accent, she recommended us places to eat and so.I am overwhelmed by her kind explanation.

Knowing I'm not from local by hearing my accent, she recommended us places to eat and so.

I am overwhelmed by her kind explanation. There are many people who eat Asam Laksa here and TeoChew Chendul here.
This cafe is usually crowded that you have to wait to get a seat. Most probably you would see almost everyone having the Chendul with them.
I guess the Chendul is that good that people would love to have it with the food here.

Though this place is a bit stuffy and hot, but for the sake of good food.
The little sacrifice means nothing!

The Loh Bak at Joo Hooi is just ok. There are not many varieties there except normal stuff like tauhu, loh bak, prawn fritters. The prawn fritters are very crispy and cut into smaller pieces. Loh Bak has a little weird smell. The tauhu is so soft. The Loh Bak takes a long time to be made and sometimes they forget people's orders. Oh, and don't bother to order the cendol. Oh, and don't bother to order the cendol. I wonder why people queue up so long for it when the cendol was horrible. I personally don't like cendol as there is too much santan.

I wonder why Penang Road laksa (RM 4.50) is touted as the best laksa ever. I am so frustrated after going there because the laksa does not have any sour and spicy taste at all. I think any assam laksa in KL is way better than the one in Penang Road. I think they have become lackadasical due too much exposure about it. So all bloggers, please stop praising Penang Road laksa anymore and look elsewhere for it. There were so little ingredients inside too.

I have never been made so angry and flustered by Char Koay Teow (4.50) till today. I went to Penang Road as I brought my mother's Sarawakian friend there. The Char Koay Teow hawker had the audacity to tell me I needed to wait at least 45 minutes and I agreed, thinking that good things are worth waiting. Boy was I wrong because it turned out to be so horrible. The egg was in balls and the egg yolk was still evident. The bean sprouts were dying and not crunchy. There were black parts of the wok st

Boy was I wrong because it turned out to be so horrible. The egg was in balls and the egg yolk was still evident. The bean sprouts were dying and not crunchy. There were black parts of the wok stuck on the char koay teow. The only thing edible are the 2 big prawns which is fresh. The worst part is there was not a single cockle inside which totally made this a complete failure. Char Koay Teow without cockles is not char koay teow at all. Seriously, I wonder what is theget difference of the duck egg. Probably it is easier to just say, never be fooled by tourist attractions or food guides you get from the airport.

All in all, I still prefer my all-time-favourite char koay teow with a lot of cockles and octopus at Sin Hwa coffee shop in Pulau Tikus.

Ordered the chao kuay teow in Joo Hooi Cafe, as it is yet another Penang specialty. It arrived fairly quickly even with the huge crowd in the coffeeshop. This chao kuay teow has quite a strong wok hei, and I really enjoyed the duck egg which is very strong in eggy flavour. It also has some big prawns which is very juicy and fresh. The only thing I do not like on this dish is that the cockles are overcooked, making it too dry without much taste left. For RM3.50 this dish is fairly priced as the ch

Fried kuey teow is another penang's delicacy. The fried kuey teow from this coffee shop was not bad either, again, not the best in penang. Although there were many people ordering the char kuey teow, the food still mananged to ve served without a long wait. The char kuey teow was very fragrant and full of the hot burning fire smell. I love the kuey teow being soft yet not easily broken and the delicious garlic and sambal.

Nobody will miss out this coffee shop, especially when there were people crowded around the stall outside this coffee shop to buy the famous teochew cendol. I think the coffee shop enjoys the good influx of customers. One of the stalls sells asam laksa. Although not the best in Penang, it was still fairy good. The soup is flavorful and spicy, but i feel that the fish was very little.

Usually, this Penang Chendol which is located along Penang Road is opened around 10 - 11 am and they served nice chendol as well as Ais Kachang and other drinks. There is two stalls which served the same thing but the one which is famous is next to the coffeeshop and you can see Gurmit Singh (or famous with his name Puah Chu Kang) picture at the stall.

If you would like to take the chendol into the coffeeshop, there will be an extra charges of RM 0.50 per person on it. So, not really worth it. As so, u can see people will be standing in front of the stall having the chendol. The chendol has lots of coconut milk and the texture is good. Not much to say about the chendol as it is simply delicious and temptating especially during the hot sunny day.
