One Recipe Cafe is located in SS2 Petaling Jaya. The restaurant is very easy to spot for its big red color signboard. However, parking in SS2 is usually headache especially during weekdays, so do expect some walking distance from your parking bay. The interior is simple and neat with air-conditioning.

One Recipe Cafe offers Chinese cuisine and their all-time signature is the Fish Head Mee Hoon that served in 3 different broths, Original, Tom Yam and Nyonya Curry, to suit the patron's own taste bud. The noodle was springy and the fish head was fried till very crispy, but need to be extra careful of the small bones, especially careless eater like me. The creamy broth tasted just nice as the restaurant claims that they do not practice MSG, preservatives and coloring in their food preparations.

One bowl of Fish Head Mee Hoon costs 8.90 Ringgit Malaysia which I think it is reasonable. If you would like to have more varieties, aside fish head, patron can also chooses to add in fish paste, sotong ball or fresh prawn for more ingredients.
Super King Crab Pot

For more luxurious, it is recommended to try their One Recipe Special, the Super King Crab Pot that served with 2 fresh crabs! It was well worth slurping up as all the essence of seafood was inside the broth. One pot of Super King Crab costs 89.90 Ringgit Malaysia and the portion is enough to share within 3 to 4 persons.

We had few side orders to go with the mains as well, such as Penang Lobak, Fried Salad Seafood Roll and Fried Fish Ball, all cost 6.90 Ringgit Malaysia per plate. I like my Penang Lobak with Kimball chili sauce. It was fried till golden brown and crispy outside but the meat filling still able to remain its juiciness. A bit oily though.

Chaswood recently opened the first outlet of one of Korea's most popular casual dining brands, Bulgogi Brothers at Paradigm Mall Kelana Jaya. The restaurant with pleasant ambience is well decorated with contemporary Korean design. K-pop music will be playing in the background to enlighten the patron's dining experience. The service is good here with highly attentive servers to fulfill every patron's requests.

Bulgogi Brothers is one of the top 2 South Korean casual dining chains and a frequent haunt of Korean celebrities. The brand was established with the opening of its first outlet in Gangnam, Korea in 2006.

'Bul' means fire while 'gogi' means meat in Korean. Bulgogi is a savory dish that dates back to 200 years which seasoned meats are prepared and grilled by the tableside. At Bulgogi Brothers, the meat is grilled tableside by the server as each table is equipped with customized state-of-the-art built-in grill in induction cooker.

Aside the bulgogi dishes, other must try items at Bulgogi Brothers are Kimchi Jjigae, spicy stew made with ripened kimchi, beef and tofu; Haemul Doenjang Jjigae, and Janchi Guksu, known as the 'party noodles' in Korea that served in seafood broth and garnished with vegetables.
Haemul Doenjang Jjigae

Haemul Doenjang Jjigae

Haemul Doenjang Jjigae that costs 26.90 Ringgit Malaysia is a slow cooked doenjang broth or soybean stew served with shrimps, soft shell crab and various vegetables. The thick broth was rich in flavor with freshness from the seafood in slightly spicy.
Haemul Bibimbab

Haemul Bibimbab

Bibimbab was another all-time signature in Korean cuisine. I had the Haemul Bibimbab at Bulgogi Brothers that cost 28.90 Ringgit Malaysia. It was served in a bowl of warm rice topped with various Namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and spicy seafood. You need to stir the ingredients together thoroughly before eating. Aside seafood, there are other option to choose for the additions such as beef (Bulgogi Bibimbab), spicy chicken (Chicken Bibimbab) and sliced chili raw beef (Yukhoe Bibimbab).

Toh Yuen is a Chinese restaurant that located in Hilton Petaling Jaya. The restaurant is well decorated in a modern interpretation of traditional Oriental feel. I especially like the giant Chinese calligraphy curtains that hang along the big windows. The restaurant seats up to 110 people with 4 private rooms that accommodate up to 10 people each.

Recently, I had the pleasure to try out their newly launched a la carte menu that Chef Lee highlights a wide array of traditional Chinese recipes he had embraced from China. Chef Lee made few adjustments at the dishes to adapt our local culinary taste.

The highlights that I tried out and would like to recommend at here are Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with Garlic and Chicken Floss, Smoked Duck with Fruit Sauce and Sautéed Fresh Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk.
Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab

Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab

Although chef deep fried the soft shell crab but surprisingly it was not that oily. The generous amount of chicken floss as topping enhance a lot of its taste and fragrance while eat it together. It costs 22 Ringgit Malaysia and the portion is nice for 2 to 3 people.
Smoked Duck with Fruit Sauce

Smoked Duck with Fruit Sauce

I am not a duck person but Chef Lee's Smoked (Spring Tea) Duck with Fruit Sauce really caught my fancy. First of all, the meat was tender and it was in slices for the convenience of lazy people like me. Secondly, chef wisely paired it with fruits and dragon fruit sauce to help balance the oily nature of duck meat. It costs 38 Ringgit Malaysia and the portion is nice for 2 to 3 people.

Any prawn dish is my all-time favorite; therefore I enjoyed very much Chef Lee's Sautéed Fresh Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk. The fresh prawn was cooked till crunchy and crisp before coated with the fragrance creamy salted egg yolk. Thumb up for its rich in flavor.

Being a country of multi races and religions, Ramadan in Malaysia is now more than just a tradition of Muslim's practice. In the spirit of Muhibah, people from all walk of life come and join together to celebrate the break fast.

This year (2012) Ramadan, I went to Hotel Armada Petaling Jaya and tried out their Ramadan buffet with theme 'Sinar Ramadhan Al-Mubarak' at the Utara Coffee House. Executive chef Chew Teik Chye with his team of culinary masters had successfully prepared the wide selection of buffet spread that offered more than 100 varieties of flavors to tantalize the patrons' palate after a long day of fasting.
Ketupat & Lemang

Ketupat & Lemang

I started my gastronomic journey with the assortment of starters such as Kerabu, Lemang, Serunding, Ulam and several of Jeruk. My favorite was the appetizing sourish Kerabu Mangga that instantly opened up my palate to welcome more delicious food into my stomach.
Roti Jala

Roti Jala

Among all the main courses, the highlights that caught my fancy were mostly the 'kampung nostalgic' namely Sup Tulang Kambing, Roti Jala, Ayam Percik Panggang, Satay, Siput Sedut Masak Cili Padi, and Roasted Lamb. All the Armada's Ramadan signature classics were cooked to perfection diffusing the tempting aromatic smell and taste.

As much as the main courses were deliciously tempting, I always reserved 20% quota for desserts to end the lovely dinner since I am a sweet tooth person. Patrons were spoiled with the varieties of sweet delicacies here too as the dessert spread got my favorites such as Pengat Nangka, Bubur Pulut Hitam, Ais Kacang, Bubur Cha-Cha, traditional Malay Kuih, French pastries, and etc.

It was 85 Ringgit Malaysia per person which I felt reasonable for the wide array of selections. The only regret I had was not grabbing few more sticks of my favorite satay. The combination of fragrantly grilled satay and chunked peanuts sauce with mild spiciness were excellent! Thumbs up.
