This is my first eating adventure with OpenRice and first time eating the Soft Shell Crab. I must confess that I had a Love and Hate relationship with Crabs! Why? I love to eat crabs as the meat has a special texture, taste and aroma. But I always come away with injured tongue, cheeks and once a broken tooth! When told you can actually eat the whole soft shell crab, I was on top on the moon. The restaurant is indeed a specialist. They rare their own crabs in 'condos', actually in stack of metal
The restaurant is indeed a specialist. They rare their own crabs in 'condos', actually in stack of metal boxes like letter boxes you find in condos. They are fed a piece of fish daily and water changed daily too! So the crabs are rared in very hygienic condition and thus devoid of toxins which are found in normal crabs in the wild which scavenge on decaying organic matter.
Cut pieces of the crabs are dipped in batter and powdered with special secret flour mixtures and then deep fried to golden brown. The finished products tasted heavenly snappy with the meat juicy and aromatic.
I think I am beginning to just love crab!
