Mee Rebus. Apart from the normal mixed rice vegetarian dishes, the temple also offer some noodle varieties. I ordered the mee rebus. It came with beancurd, sengkuang, lettuce, potato slices, carrot slices, and some fried stuffs. The mee rebus gravy was not too thick but it has some tanginess as I squeezed lime into it. The fried stuffs were crispy. The other ingredients were fresh and not salty.

Siam Fried Mee Hoon Vermicelli doesn’t have to be fried the mundane way. It can always be mixed and matched to make it more flavorsome such as this Siam style, with the unique paste used. It is aromatic with some mild spiciness and piquancy. When taken with other vegetarian side dishes such as French beans, vegetarian char siew and soya-based skin, it’s good to go. I thinks it’s another alternative apart from taking rice every day.

Several ingredients have been combined in order to give this healthy snack some boast of natural flavours. The carrot cake itself is pretty smooth and occasionally, you may find some bites of radish. Its blandness is being tackled by the assorted savory ingredients such as black fungus, diced carrots, mushroom slices and also its inhouse sambal sauce. They are quite an addictive bunch and it’s delish too. Paired with the sauce has further zest it up! ^_^

As for my pick of the day, I have taken a couple of dishes to taste on. There are some cabbages, mushrooms, bean curd based products and some long beans. All the side dishes are delicious and I particularly enjoy the diced long beans with some cubed carrots and potatoes. It has that smoky aroma that reminds me of Lei Cha side ingredients and I think they are really awesome. Of course, if you prefer something more gravy, then the bean curd skin braised with some mushroom would be a good choice too.

You could find morning snacks like fried sesame balls freshly prepared from the wok. There are red bean filling as well as lotus version for you to choose from, with the latter with black sesame mixture on the outside. They are decently nice and not too sweet. As for the opaque skin, it is aromatic and slightly crispy after being deep fried with sesame. Yum!

It’s another homemade pastry from the temple café again. Not too sure if this biscuit has any specific name, but one thing that can be is that it has bit rocky texture than Jiang Su biscuit, and does resembles the walnut cookies. The biscuit is actually quite crusty and I suppose it must have been baked at high temperature, thus is bit dry. One might find it a bit floury and filled with some nutty aroma as well. Suggest that you accompany this snack with some milk or any beverage to help moisten

The taste of the rice is good, not sticky like it is overcooked or undercooked like what you expect when the stalls sell a lot and in a very fast pace, over here the rice quality remain as good. The dishes is well cooked and do not contain any MSG, at least i can't taste any, the dish here is so healthy, very good for ladies

The stalls are full of people, especially during lunch hour. The attendant, mostly Aunt provide a good service in helping you to take the dishes to your plate and efficient in cashier as well. Everyone is expected to take the plate to the washing area and leave it there, no one leave their plate on the table, so the seating area is considered clean.

Undoubtedly, it's good for us to eat more vegetables.

Today, I would like to introduce this place - Po Ling Chinese Temple to all the readers especially those who are vegetarians!!
Po Ling temple located along Jalan Ampang, beside Wisma MCA, opposite of Bank of China
You can reach here by LRT stop at Stesen KLCC or Stesen Ampang Park
From KL Twin Tower, you have to walk about 5-10 minutes, just walk across 2 streets then u can arrive.
Based on the location where Po Ling Temple located, it is very convenient to those working personnel there.

Beside of location, Po Ling Temple provide variety of vegetables.
It has a big canteen so you can enjoy your meal there. (all are self services)
It also sell fruits, herbal teas, buns, mee and etc.
So, I think Po Ling temple will be a good choice for those who are health-conscious

Po Ling sells the mixed rices at very reasonable prices since they grows their vegetables and fruits at their own farm. I think that will be the reason why they can afford to sell at low prices than others.

Po Ling also very care for recycle.
When the customers plan to take away the food, the customers will normally bring their tupperware.
If not, Po Ling will provide a papermade tupperware for them.

Herbal tea: RM 1.00

Frankly speaking, it's very hard to get a RM5 meal around the KLCC area.
So, I strongly recommend Po Ling Temple to you all.

You could actually have vegetarian mixed rice like this. It’s more or less like the usual economic rice you have, just that this is of non-meat version, and thus, much healthier. Foods served are delectable and less oily. Even the vegetables are home-grown and therefore, freshness is guaranteed. You might also be spoilt with choices as they really offer lots of varieties of vegetarians, mock meats, fruits and drinks.

Apart from the economic rice, there are also some vegetarian pastries, biscuits and ‘kueh’ being sold. There is this “Kon Soh Peng”, which is hardly found nowadays. I used to have it at my late grandmom’s place during younger days and I love it so so much! The pastry is just made of flour, sugar and water, but the taste nonetheless, still delish. I believe people of vegetarian enjoy it too. However, the size has now been minimized as compared to last time where each biscuit is the size of two-small-palms!

This is the carrot cupcake

Apart from the mixed rice vegetarian food, the temple also offer lui cha on Fridays. The lui cha contained two to three types of vegetables, peanuts, beancurd and rice topped with green tea sort of gravy. After some mixing, the lui cha is good to eat. The vegetables were stir-friend first beforehand, they were fresh and crunchy still. The peanuts added some saltiness to the dish. The beancurd was plain. The lui cha gravy was sweet and refreshing.

It is weird that most of the time when I eat vegetarian food, they are more expensive than when I ordered meat. So basically when I am on tight budget, vegetarian is the first crossout from my makan list. This temple is full of crowd during lunch time. Most probably because the food is cheap. The dishes here is so much until enough for you to eat 2 weeks without eating the same food. Even though the price is cheap, the taste isn't bad at all. I wouldn't mind to have this as my lunch and tea time

A really good spot for a budget lunch, which usually costs me 3-4 bucks at most for a filling meal. There's usually a long queue, and seating style is like a mess hall. My usual choices are the pumpkin, tau gua (firm tofu), eggplant, and sometimes tempe. The pumpkin is mushy and sweet; the eggplant is mushy but oily, and spiced with chilis; the tempe is earthy and has that fermented scent that I actually like; and the tau gua is firm and juicy, and isn't as salty as it looks - s good substitute

The profits fund the temple and food is healthier. Good feelings all around.
