Ah Loong needs no introduction, as it is considered one of the most famous seafood restaurants in Jinjang Utara. The restaurant is extremely spacious with two dining areas. One is located in front of the restaurant, and the other one is located behind. As the restaurant’s name suggests, the signature dish here is the Grilled Stingray, which is pan-fried with oil for around 15 minutes until the fish is crispy from inside out. Another crowd puller here is the Baked Crab. It is grilled in the same way as the grilled fish with butter. Absolutely delicious!
Sheng Huat is a unique Bak Kut Teh restaurant in Jinjang Utara operated by two different groups of people. The first shift starts from 4pm until 10pm, while the second shift starts at 10pm. The night shift is run by a humble family. Their Bak Kut Teh is so delicious that many patrons are willing to come here as late as 10pm for supper. They offer only traditional Bak Kut Teh with herbal soup. Some must-try dishes include small bone (more lean meat), big bone (more fat), pork trotter, and pork intestine with a thousand layers.
Run by a family in their own house, this small eatery is well-known in Jinjang Utara for its freshly made Coconut Shake. They started offering Coconut Shake when a customer told them how popular the drink was in Melaka a few years back. When the new product was launched, it turned out to be an instant success. Today, most customers come here for their Coconut Shake made of fresh coconut water and topped with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream. Apart from Coconut Shake, they also serve a wide range of fruit shakes, fruit juices, cooked dishes and snacks.
Another well-known hawker stall in Jinjang Utara without a name. Same as the Coconut Shake eatery, this stall is operated by a family at their own house. They only offer two types of noodle dishes, i.e. Fish Ball Noodle Soup and Stir-Fried Noodles with Cockles. When the stall is open at night, there is always a queue in front of the stall waiting to "da pao" their noodle soup with handmade fish balls that are very soft and bouncy!
This place in Jinjang Utara is operated by two hawker stalls. There is a hawker stall selling Yong Tau Foo in the morning, while San Kee starts operating in the afternoon at around 2pm until late at night. The venue is cut into halves by a small road; hence, don’t be surprised if a motorcycle or a bicycle suddenly passes by while you are enjoying the fried noodles here. The Fried Hokkien Mee here is simply awesome with noodles that are dry, fragrant, and full of "wok hei". Also must-try is their one-of-its-kind noodle soup with big pieces of pork ribs!
Meaning a person who goes to bed late, Xiao Ye Mao Pan Mee is famous Pan Mee stall in Jinjang Utara that opens almost 24 hours a day to cater to night and supper crowd. What’s more interesting is that the cooking is done by an Indian, who has been working here for more than a decade. At the kitchen, you can see how the Pan Mee noodles are freshly made to ensure the noodles are fresh and soft when cooked. They offer a few choices of Pan Mee cooked in different styles, including Dry Pan Mee, Soup Pan Mee, and Spicy Soup Pan Mee.
Jinjang Utara has many hawker stalls and restaurants that offer Fried Hokkien Mee, and one of the most well-known ones is this restaurant called Ah Kiat. Located opposite Ah Loong Grilled Fish, this Chinese restaurant is a place where you can enjoy a wide variety of stir-fried noodles, such as Fried Hokkien Mee, Fried Rice Cake, and Fried Noodles with Freshwater Prawns in Jiangnan Style. The Fried Hokkien Mee is delicious with noodles that are dry and fragrant.
8. Thai Garden Village (T.G.V.)
This TGV is not a cinema, but a huge restaurant specializing in a wide variety of Thai seafood and BBQ dishes. With a garden situated in the middle of the restaurant, customers get to enjoy mouth-watering Thai food in beautiful garden-like setting. The signature dish that you would find at almost every table is the Fire Phoenix, which is a standing grilled spring chicken burning with fire when served.
