10 OpenRice members were invited to Dong Yi Shun Restaurant at Kelana Jaya to whet their appetites with delicious halal Chinese food on 23th Oct!
Dong Yi Shun was first established in China in 1995. Now, it has 11 outlets and 2 factories in different parts of China, including Ningbo, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Shaoxing and Yiwu, offering halal Chinese Cuisine. The restaurant has recently expanded its business to Malaysia by opening its first outlet in Petaling Jaya to cater to Malaysian people.
According to the restaurant’s owner, halal food is not only pork-free, but also healthy food that is processed in a hygienic way according to the laws of Islam. One of the objectives of opening the restaurant is to introduce and promote halal Chinese delicacies in Malaysia. Now even Muslims can enjoy tantalizing Chinese food!
Walk into the restaurant and be greeted by a comfortable dining environment decorated in traditional Chinese style with dark wooden furniture imported from China. Both square and round tables are available to suit different needs. You can also find beautiful paintings of Chinese Calligraphy hanging on the walls.
Before the specialty dishes were served, our MC introduced the purpose of MakanVenture, which is to bring food lovers together to try new and exciting foods in Klang Valley. After both new and old members had arrived, the food tasting session kicked off with the restaurant’s famous Beef Ramen and Xiao Long Bao!
The ramen noodles are Lanzhou ramen that are freshly handmade only when an order is placed, because the ramen can only last for an hour, since the noodles are free from any preservative. Members were invited to visit the kitchen to witness how the noodles were made with bare hands by an expert chef! The beef was well braised with a soft and tender texture, while the noodles were smooth yet firm and chewy.
Xiao Long Bao was one of our members’ favourite dishes. The soup dumplings were served piping hot. The correct way of eating Xiao Long Bao is to pick the dumpling up gently with chopsticks and dip it in the vinegar sauce with ginger to enhance the taste. Take a small bite and suck the warm soup from the dumpling to enjoy the meat broth to the fullest.
Other dishes, such as Zi Ran Lamb, Spicy Chicken, Hot and Sour Soup and Golden Empress Fish were also special and satisfying. Some members like the Zi Ran Lamb, which is prepared using Zi Ran herb imported from China, adding a natural herbal fragrance to the tender meat.
Snapping some nice photos for food review~
After enjoying all the dishes, the restaurant’s supervisor had a simple Q&A session with the members regarding the dishes that they had just tried.
Members posed for a group photo in front of the shop before we called it day
