After almost a month of intense competition in September, 18 OpenRice members from across the region emerged victorious in the Be My Guest campaign. Earlier this month, the winners, including Malaysians kellysiew and pamelaybc, embarked on a once-a-lifetime, all-expense-paid trip to the gastronomic capital of Hong Kong. It was some of the most unforgettable three-days-and-two-nights of their lives. The celebration kicked off with a regal luncheon at the acclaimed Yue (粵) restaurant, which serves contemporary Cantonese cuisine with fusion. Every dish served was flawless and moreish. Of course, the fun didn’t stop at food. Four of Hong Kong’s top OpenRice members came over to co-host the winners and share their insights into the local dining culture. There was also a little twist to the party. One of the winners, cmoppa of China, had her birthday on the same day. The occasion was marked with a gorgeous cake, and everyone sang the birthday song to her. Before the luncheon came to an end, OpenRice C.E.O. Mr. Alfred Choi, as well as Managing Director Ms. Jan Wong sent their heartfelt congratulations to the winners. Certificates were handed out in remembrance of these special moments. Shortly afterwards, the winners were ushered to the grand opening of the American Express Hong Kong Dine & Wine Festival 2013 at the New Central Harbourfront — in other words, more good food and wine went their way, accompanied by stunning vista! Over the course of a month of campaign period, 30,000 reviews poured in from across the region, including China, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. “Be My Guest” had been a success!
