Longan Ice. We always like to visit this Thai restaurant because it is located near our neighbourhood and the parking is always easy during weekdays and weekends night in that area. The restaurant was dimly lit for a cozy dining environment. The longan ice has quite a number of pieces of longan. The drink was not too sweet, just filled with the right amount of sweetness.

Green Curry Chicken. Since we were having the spicy tomyam soup, we ordered the non-spicy green curry chicken so that the whole meal was not fiery spicy. The green curry had some basil leaves to add on the aromatic smell. It was thick and quite sweet. I personally quite like the taste as it was not spicy and thick with spices taste. The chicken pieces were tender.

Ice Lemon Tea. Normally we will just settled with plain water when we dined at Golden Orchid Oriental Thai Cuisine. That night however my brother felt like drinking something sweet, he ordered the ice lemon tea. It came with lots of ice and topped with a piece of lemon. The tea taste was strong and refreshing with a little bit of lemon taste. Actually it was an average drink.

Paku Pakis Garlic. Since the first time we tried this Golden Orchid Oriental Thai, we had been going back there quite often if we wanted to have some good Thai food. The last time we tried the belacan kangkung and it was not satisfactory, so we just stick with stir fried paku pakis with garlic this time around. The paku pakis has a quite rough texture and it has garlic pieces around it. A normal one.

Fried Fish with Mango. The fish was topped with mango shreds, anchovies and some nuts. Around the fish was the Thai chili. The fish was deep fried till crispiness, it was not oily at all despite being deep fried. The mango shreds were quite sour and it matched well with the fish together with the chilli sauce. The anchovies were huge and crunchy. We were satisfied with this dish.

Stir fried kangkung with garlic. That night since we had the spicy tomyam soup, we did not order the belacan kangkung, we ordered the stir fried kangkung with garlic instead. The portion was big and the garlic pieces were big too. The kangkung was soft and it was crunchy. The garlic taste was not too strong. This was an ordinary stir fried vegetable dish and nothing special.

Golden Orchid Special Fried Chicken. We were thinking which type of chicken dish to order as last time we had tried the pandan chicken. So we chose this Golden Orchid Special fried chicken. It was chicken marinated in homemade sauce served with two chili dipping sauces. The chicken was slightly crispy and the homemade marination was quite unique. The taste was slightly salty and not spicy.

However, we were slightly disappointed as it did not came with the pineapple. The fried rice consisted of pineapples, prawns, cashew nuts, green peas and some fried shallots. Red Ruby dessert. After our satisfying dinner, we ordered a bowl of red ruby dessert for sharing. The red ruby was actually water chestnut coated in pink layer. The water chestnut was big pieces and there were a lot. The shave ice was finely shaved. My father felt like there was not enough of coconut milk, but for me and my mother, the taste was good enough without heavy coconut milk.

Clear Seafood Tomyam Soup. Since last month we had tried the red tomyam soup, this time around, we chose the clear seafood tomyam soup. The soup was packed with ingredients such as herbs, lemongrass, squids, prawns and oyster mushrooms. The soup was extremely sour till I sweat when I drank it. The prawns were big and fresh. The squids too. I think I would still prefer the red tomyam soup.

Clear Seafood Tomyam Soup. Since last month we had tried the red tomyam soup, this time around, we chose the clear seafood tomyam soup. Upon entering, it is almost immediate to tone yourself and easily blend into the cozy and comforting lighting in the restaurant. And of course, the warm welcoming greeting by PAHTIMAH, at the doorway. The dishes are all heart warming and the platters are something to be bragged. The platter that was very enjoyable that night was the Kembong Fish Platter that is common to be found on the menu of most Thai restaurant, be it the authentic ones or the fusion ones. The platter that was very enjoyable that night was the Kembong Fish Platter that is common to be found on the menu of most Thai restaurant, be it the authentic ones or the fusion ones. It is a very simple dish consisting of mainly very natural ingredient in it with no addition of heavy spices and flavouring. There is the grrens, which most might not like it as they are somewhat raw.

And some fried brinjal and kembong fish which again might not have been the favourite fish to most people out there. the kembong fish itself is flavourful and many find that unacceptably fishy. However, this dish works its own magic with this combination as well as the most important element to sparkle the taste bud, the chili sauce. Strong belancan and strong chili making this my favourite sauce for the night. I thought it was another wonderful dish for sharing at the price of R M18.

We were served two fishes both I find it awesome with the flavours if done correctly. The first is the Thai Style Steamed Fish. Don’t expect them to top the freshness in the seafood, and yet they also did try hard with the flavour of the dish.The ingredients and spices on this fish is flooding the hot metal fish shaped plat and the gravy didn’t quite meet up to the usual Thai style that is really rich and tangy spicy.

Follow by the yummy Golden Orchid Special Fried Chicken at RM 18 which is delectably great to go in a meal of dishes and rice. Once again, this is nothing too Thai or rather it has already very much localized to our local palate. Nevertheless it was still good. The chicken was amazingly marinated so it was really flavourful.

The dishes were not spicy at all, despite to supposedly be Thai dishes, which commonly is well known to be spicy. This also applies to the Paku Pakis which is definitely my favourite. Thai or no Thai, I love this one. Here in the Golden Orchid, the vegetable which belong to the fern leaf family, is done stir fried with sambal belacan The vegetable is sweet and crunchy at the same time pleasantly tender because only young stalks were use. Thumbs up for that!!

Thai Fish Cake serves at RM 14 and it was the least favourite of mine so far. The texture was really rough and unpleasantly coarse in texture. Not the best I’ve had.

Good thing the Thai Style Omelette manage to redeem their reputation with the very fluff and light texture as well as superb wok heat to ensure the perfect crisp on the outside and fluff on the inside omellete. Must be lots of oil there, but it was awesome! It was priced averagely at RM 15.

Candied Tapioca which sells at RM 4.80, but this one is nothing too impressive. I would definitely prefer the texture to be slightly softer and more flavourful within the tapioca itself.

The dishes are all fairly priced and very decent for family meals. The flavours are very mild for Thai flavours but great with the oriental touch.

Serving oriental Thai cuisine, the flavours of their dishes are very much already tuned to favour the local palate. Starting with their Tom Yam Seafood which sells at RM25 and RM45 for two different sizes respectively, the combination of all flavours in this is complimenting one another so well there is nothing that was excessively over throwing anything other flavour in the soup. It looks trenchantly sour and spicy, but the taste was irresistibly seductive.

The seafood is ordinarily usual but they serve quite a bit of their dishes of mainly seafood. Speaking of which, the platter comes in a combo mix of few dishes which is accompanied by this tangy and mildly spicy dipping sauce. Great and perfect for sharing, this Golden Orchid BBQ Combo Platter serves at Rm 68.Comes with lots of lambs and prawns and squids, the grilled ingredients is perfect to go with the dipping sauce and apart from the lamb which already has a distinctive flavour of its own, the rest preserves the natural flavour and prevails to stand out with their fresh texture.

Fried Fish with Keng Som is amazing with all the mix flavours of tangy and delectable spices submerging within the fish.The sourish flavour is appetizingly interesting with lots of other vegetables in it.

I love what they did with the Buttermilk Prawn as well. Lovely prawns with a lot of gravy which so coincidently is to my liking. I don’t see how this is any bit very Thai because in Malaysia, people eat this all the time which I am not surprise since the two country have so much similar influences in culture. Except that this one here has more gravy than the usual that we have.

Lastly, my favourite Thai dessert Tub Tim Krob sells at an average price of RM 4.80 each. There is not enough coconut milk in it so the flavour truly lacks a little.

Pandan chicken. The pandan chicken option was stated under appetizer, so we thought it would be a small piece with a quite expensive price tag (RM16 for 4 pieces). In fact, it was quite big pieces when it was served. The chicken were wrapped heavily with the pandan leave and the aroma was strong. The chicken was soft, slightly charred, and not too salty. Dipped together with the Thai chilli sauce, it was delicious.

Stir Fried beef with basil leaves. We wanted to order green curry beef but my mother wanted to try the basil leaves version, so we went with her choice. The beef slices were not too big, but some were slightly tough and some were slightly soft. The basil leaves flavour was not too strong in this, good for people who prefer milder version. The dish was not too salty.

Belacan Lady Fingers. My mother wanted lady fingers and she chose the belacan stir-fried style. The lady fingers were quite big pieces. Some of them were slightly hard though, I wonder whether is the old lady fingers. The belacan was slightly spicy but it was not too fragrant of belacan taste. The dish was quite salty, and had to be eaten together with rice. It was a so-so dish.
