As always whenever my aunt from Singapore comes down for a visit, our entire family on the maternal side always have dinner together. Our first choice is and probably always will be Wan Jia even if the distance there is quite a bit. But we never mind driving a little further just for some good food. Our first order is the Thousand Island Sauced Pork Ribs. Usually I would prefer marmite rather than this but then at Wan Jia, this dish is freaking amazing that it has fast become a favourite of mine

Our first order is the Thousand Island Sauced Pork Ribs. It's kind of hard to describe the flavours exactly but it's tangy, salty and also slightly sweet. The ribs are always cooked nicely, crispy on the outside while the meat remains nicely juicy.

We also ordered their special Bean Curd braised with Abalone Slices on top. This was everyone's favourite because they loved the sauce that it came with. I however was partial to this only because beancurd was never really something I was crazy about, though I did have two big pieces to myself. It's nice when doused with the sauce and mixed with some white rice.

Another dish that is also a favourite is the Kam Heong Lala. This dish had a good punch of flavours and nice hit of spice from the chili padi that is used. Plus the clams are super gresh so they are juicy while absorbing the flavour of the sauce very well.

Then as an added treat for everyone, we got this braised pumpkin with lots of seafood. They have abalone, sea cucumber, dried oysters, mushrooms and fish maw which have all been  braised in a similar sauce to the beancurd dish. This was also pretty good as the filling was very big portion which kept all of us at the table very happy.

So worth dining at Wan Jia every time because the portions are always big and yet the price are not too exurbent while the quality of taste & ingredietns never fail.

This restaurant is a favourite place of my entire family. Although it is a little far from where we stay, we'd still drive all the way to have our dinner there. Not only is the food good, the service is amazing and also the food is not overly priced for the amazing quality in taste and portion that is given to us. Something that is a MUST order is their steamed Kampung Chicken. Something that is a MUST order is their steamed Kampung Chicken. The meat is tender but not mushy and the sauce that it comes with is not overly salted, but just nice & flavourful. Plus the mixture of ginger, garlic, green onions that comes with this dish makes the chicken taste even better especially when eaten with white rice.

Another thing that we really like to order is their Curry Fish Head with extra tao fu pok to absorb all the sauce. They serve this in a huge claypot filled up to the brim in bubbling curry sauce with lots of vegetables, fish head meat and also tao fu pok. The sauce is spicy and also slightly creamy without tasting like too much of coconut milk.

This dish is my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE. It's the Four Heavenly Kings Vegetable Stir-Fry in Belacan. Whenever I order this at other restaurants, they use chilli boh rather than sambal belacan which results in the vegetable being doused in oil and lacking of any flavour. However here they use sambal belacan so it's very flavourful, plus they add lots of other ingredietns such as dried prawns and shallots to make the sauce even more delicious.

Almost everything that we have ever ordered from Wan Jia is super good. There is NOTHING that we were ever disappointed with and considering the many establishments these days, this is saying a lot.

fried chicken wingThis is the fried chicken wing.Chicken wing is the second best part i like the most other than drumstick.This chicken wing is so tender and the skin is very crispy.But it's also a little bit too dry for me.The meat is not dry and really finger licking good. But this is not KFC.You can dip the chicken wing with the thai chilli sauce.It taste a bit sour and not really spicy.
