Restaurant: Popeye's  Smile Jan 11, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches

Today, my brother gave us a treat at the Popeyes- Louisiana Kitchen. It is a fast food restaurant with the same concept as KFC. It said to be 2nd largest after KFC i think. But the taste is much more better than KFC. At least I have something good for today after yesterday. My brother order chicken combo set with 3 pieces of chicken, a biscuit, a drink, 2 side dish-coleslaw and smashpotato with cajun gravy for RM11.95. I have seafood set with a fried fish, 5 pieces of shrimps, a drink, a biscuit, a coleslaw and a smash potato for RM14.95. I don't think it is worth of money because the portion is quite small. Brother also added one extra strawberry cheese cake for RM3.95. All the price shown is net which mean no tax.

I like the smash potato so much. The taste was so different from the normal smash potato. It contains chicken, pork and beef in the gravy. I'm not quite sure whether it is stated Halal or not or they have change the ingredients in the menu of smash potato for Malaysia. Smash potato is a must try item. Rating: 4/5. The coleslaw is good too. You can hear a crunchy sound when you chew the coleslaw. The chickens we ordered are spicy one because from my brother's comment that the normal chicken is tasteless compare to the spicy one. Spicy chicken is more crunchy but it is not spicy. They shouldn't named it spicy it think.

The fried fish I had, taste good, it is so juice when you bite it and it does not have the fishy smell..so different from the fish we had in Manhattan Fish Market. Biscuit is the part that make Popeyes special. The biscuit looks like a cream puff shape and taste salty but not sweet..weird right but taste very good especially when it is with strawberry jam.

Other than chicken and seafood, they do have burgers and other more. Maybe I'll try the burger next time.

Spending per head: Approximately RM15

Today, I went to find this special bread shop named Levain Boulangerie Patisserie after suggested by MW's cousin. I do some research on this shop before going and found that it is actually own by Beryl's company and they are in facebook too (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kuala-Lumpur-Malaysia/Levain-Boulangerie-Patisserie/113738761971245). It is located at No7, Jln Delima Off Jln Imbi, 55100 K.L. The shop was actually a bungalow and modified into a shop. All the nearby bungalows have been modified into restaurants too.

This shop is operate in self service means you pick up the bread and pay at the counter. They will ask whether you want to take away or have here. If it is have here then they will put the bread on a plate for you. There is a drink pick up counter at the side of the counter. If you have order a drink, make sure you show them your receipt and pick up your drink at the drink pick up counter. You will be given a number too if you order some hot dishes (like pasta) from the board menu in front of the cashier. You can even ask to reheat the breads and pizzas at the cashier there. Although it is self service, for hot dishes they will bring it to your table according to your number and the service is fast.

Tong Kee Bread & Tarts Smile Jan 11, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

I don't really fancy about bread but today I just bump into this bread shop because of the unique shop name- bread & tarts. Mom insists to go in to have a look. The environment is nice, very comfortable when walk inside. The most attractive place is the cakes, so colourful with some light tricks. We bought some bread and tarts of course (the shop name has stated tarts for sure have to try it!). So, I just found out that this shop I have visited is actually quite famous of its tarts after mention by my brother. Whoa.. I slightly missed it if not for mom who draw me back.

Restoran Kanna Curry House Smile Jan 11, 2012

Categories : Indian | Restaurant | Vegetarian

The place seem crowded when we arrived at lunch time but we got ourselves a place inside the restaurant. The service was fast, banana leaf on the table once we seated, curry sauce serve to table, chicken, sotong, all coming one by one to our table. My eyes were like @.@ seeing all those dishes dashing to our table, my family's actions were fast too, pointing this that...within minute our table was filled with curry chicken, fried chicken, fried calamari, fish and vegetable on each of our banana leave..

This is a must have dish-Deep Fried Calamari (RM8.00). The crunchy calamari with fried onion and curry leaves, very good combination but a bit expensive.

Deep Fried Chicken (RM6.00)- juicy and tender chicken thigh with indian spices. Good for those who can't take spicy food.

I was too busy trying the food that I forgotten to take photo again..& stop half way when eating..haha..The other 3 dishes which are curry chicken, fried chicken (in small pieces) and fish (ikan tenggiri) that no stand alone photos of them...T.T.. The fried chicken in small pieces very nice too, the taste is sweet compare to the deep fried chicken thigh (have to side order).

Anyway, you can choose to sit inside the restaurant or outside which is opposite road (under the trees). We choose to seat inside since roadside is dangerous but I found that outside is much more cooler than inside restaurant (maybe there are cooler fan outside).

I'm sure go to this shop whenever I come back to KL. I love to have vegetarian food and this shop provide a wide range of vegetarian food from Chinese to Western style. This place is called Nature's Recipe Cafe located near state there. I'll introduce some nice dishes that I like below.

Fruit tea-RM9.80
Fruit tea is one of the famous tea in the shop but unfortunately we try today, the taste is out. Then we talk to the boss only to find out that the original fruit tea supplier is no longer selling anymore. So they have change another supplier for it. This means that no more famous fruit tea!

Rainbow Noodle Soup-RM6.80

Vege Bean Curd Curry with rice -RM7.80
I like the curry, the taste very nice and thick.
