Wine Tasting Smile Dec 18, 2014
Categories : European | Restaurant | Bar & Pub | Steaks / Chops | Seafood

The recent wine tasting showcased an array of Chilean wines, held at the award winning continental restaurant, La Bodega, located prominently at the salient locality of Bangsar.
Invited guests were treated to a sumptuous array of inhouse signatures such as Seafood Paella and tapas amongst others.

Everyone was devouring during the gustation night while relishing in the camaraderie among wine aficionados.
Also present with us were Gabriel Fernandez Bosch, the Miguel Torres export manager who travels to Malaysia 4 times a year from Shanghai, sharing a light moment with Francis Wong.

CORDILLERA CARIGNAN 2009 (MAULE VALLEY)
Intensely pigmented colours of ruby. Floral and fruity aroma on a background of toasted notes from the cask. On the palate, it’s expansive and develops beautifully. The notes in its aroma are now complemented by hints of bay and mint.

CORDILLERA CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2011 (MAIPO VALLEY)
Touted exclusively as "Small production, artisan wines", it's no surprise that it captures our palate lusciously that night as the best bottle for the red wine range.
CORDILLERA CHARDONNAY 2011 (Limari Valley)
Fresh and fruity aroma with dominant notes of peach, white plum and grapefruit with touches of toasted hazelnuts. Mineral on the palate with great volume and an elegant acidity with rich fruity long-lasting aromas and a fresh, pleasant aftertaste.
SANTA DIGNA RESERVA CARMENERE 2012 (CENTRAL VALLEY)
Cherry colour with fine mulberry aromas and balsamic touches of eucalyptus that culminate in a sublime hint of mandarin oranges. Elegant on the palate with sweet tannins and nuances of leathers and spices. Pleasant toasted background.
SANTA DIGNA RESERVA MERLOT 2011 (CENTRAL VALLEY)
Great aromatic intensity, plum and blackberry jam mixed with spicy hints of vanilla and liquorice. A very attractive and elegant palate, enriched with toasted notes acquired through its oak ageing and a long after taste with lingering spices.
It was a lovely food-and-wine affair and rest assured, a more indepth understanding towards wine tasting had been further engraved vividly. Now that I know which bottles of Chilean wines to choose from in addition to Alsatian variants and New Zealand selections.

Jamaica Blue Smile Dec 18, 2014

Categories : Western variety | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Burgers / Sandwiches | Bakery / Cake / Kuih | Group/Family dining | Private Party

amaica Blue, being the latest bold new kid on the block at Mid Valley, makes a shout out convincingly with its array of promising food and beverages, including its Signature Blend of 7 types beans as well as the prestigious selection from the one of the oldest estate; Wallenford Estate Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee. Both exude noticeable distinctness that is more apparent in its respective ristretto serving.
Soon, wafting through the air is the perpetuated scents of morning brews fluttering about the inner rim of these dainty ceramics.
We are first introduced to Jamaica Blue Signature Blend brews.
A satisfying creamy coffee with a delicate chocolate aftertaste. This well-rounded coffee blend is made from 100% Arabica beans sourced from five of the world’s most renowned coffee regions.
Wallenford Estate Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee comes next.
Touted as one of the world’s best coffees, this single-origin varietal is set to delight your taste bud with its bright and sweet, crisp finish. Grown at the superior location of Jamaica’s Blue Mountain, it has rendered a remarkable premium coffee tasting to your senses. It comes rather mild but perfectly balanced.
Ensue subsequently are wonderful plates of toothsome recipes made fresh from the kitchen to spice up your coffee enjoyment.

Jamaica Blue Big Breakfast (MYR 20.90)
Eggs, turkey ham, chicken sausage, roasted tomatoes, sautéed mushrooms and toast. With a beverage of your choice to live up to a good brunch selection.
Now it’s time to call out the favourite of the sweet tooths! Dessert time! (=
Caramel Machiatto Cheesecake (MYR 12.90)
Indulgently captivating with its creaminess that is just rightly done. Not too saccharine but still lends the unmistakably caramel flavor humbly.
Tiramisu (MYR 12.90)
Lovely choice as always……………
With the ever-blooming sophisticated coffee chains around Klang Valley in the recent past two years, hopefully you are able to identify your very own coffee element that lies closest to your heart. Me for one, are slowly leaning over single origin brew aside from the conventional milk-based coffee in the course of true coffee appreciation learning curve.

Another pleasant visit :) Smile Dec 18, 2014

Konichiwa!
Yes, perhaps am back too soon again for the matcha treats again! smile
But this time round, rather than the usual Matcha Affogato that I would order, that day, I decided to give its other also equally laudable treats a try too.
Chocolate Affogato
Some refreshing choices compared to the previously matcha-inundated fad smile But I still love them anyway, hehe...
Chocolate-Coffee Affogato
This combination is truly awesome! Indulgent in its own way by blinding some sweetness of the dark chocolate into the fruitiness of the Japanese espresso shot.
For those with caffeine intolerance , fret not as they could always get a taste of their signature Green tea beverage, be it in hot beverage like Matcha Latte or even Matcha Affogato. It’s encouraged to include green tea as part of our diet for it is believed to be a natural herbal panacea with many health benefits. So, have a good sip today towards a healthier and wholesome lifestyle!

The Morning After OK Dec 18, 2014
Categories : Western variety | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches

As everything begins the morning after; we ought to kick off daily with a hearty breakfast and a good cup of coffee to signify another wonderful beginning of our journey. Likewise, this kiosk café, which is relatively new at Pavilion Shopping Mall, offers a fair selection for delish food and beverages within the cozy confine of its humble décor of rustic industrial bric-a-brac.
Touted as one of TMA’s specialties, we decided to go easy on tummy before heading to next session of coffee hopping at Wa Café, done offhandedly btw (=
Chic Rotisserie (MYR 17.90)
Laces of well-marinated roasted chicken strips served atop tomatoes slice and lettuce, before sandwiched between the signature sammie and coupled with some tortilla chips that have been drizzled with some cheese dressing.
Cheesy Turkey Love (MYR 17.90)
Tickling our taste bud next is this turkey ham that supposed to be loaded with cheese as stated in the menu. Similarly, this serving of bagel is accompanied by a side salad and tortilla chips, that just differentiates in its filling. Apparently, this dish is rather subpar and doesn't pull off as good as the former one as I find it quite dry, lacking in taste wise.
Moreover, the kinda bland taste of the tortilla chips(perhaps suits the terribly health conscious folks-pun intended) doesn't help either, and so I request for another helping of the sauce to sort of spice up this dish with the pastry as well.
Personally, I would find my favourite turkey ham more enjoyable if it were to slightly pan-fried to give out that mild crispiness with the alluring smoky aroma that surely enough to make anyone salivate as the scent wafting through the air. Extra minutes of nuking the buttered bagel would taste better overall too if it’s moderately browned. Anyway, it’s just my honest two-cents when the amiable and attentive staff , Mario, ask for the feedback on the food.
Latte (MYR 10.90)
The house signature coffee has a mild palate as TMA uses the blend of Mandheling, Santos and Sigri.
The Sneaky Cheesecake (MYR 12.90)
Fortunately, the dessert somewhat helps to make up the day. It is moist and creamy with a cube of snickers bar on top. However, the biscuit base is tad soggy and I personally prefer to have a contradictory but yet soft crumble-like texture in my cheesecake recipe.
I suppose there are still rooms for improvement for this new café and hopefully, there would be more varieties in its menu offerings especially on the savoury side in the future.

Authentic Italian Dining Smile Aug 21, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta | Seafood

Charmingly decorated with exposed brick façade that exudes the very essence of Italian dining, La Risata which means “The Laughter”, welcomes you to a mirthful, gastronomic journey of authentic Italian food.

Touted as one the famous bevanda, I tried Virgin Mojitos as recommended. True enough, it’s very refreshingly awakening with its fragrant mint leaves and lime juice with Italian soda. An all-time companion, especially during the sultry day. Alcohol-free though smile

US Grilled Angus Grain Fed Tenderloin 100days- 250g (MYR 78)
The thick slab of undercut is bountiful with voluptuous tenderness, succulently grilled to perfection with roasted vegetables and green beans with 3 choices of sauce to compliment with.
Sauce: Creamy Mushroom / Cheese Gorgonzolla / Brown Sauce
Sagliola Baked
A nutritious dish of wood-fired oven baked whole Barramundi, drizzled with truffle olive oil served with potpourri of grilled mixed vegetables.
Seafood Pasta
Duck and Mushrooms Pizza
Zucotto
Liqueur dome cake filled with chocolate and vanilla cream with almond, hazelnut and chocolate bits.
Choc Cake
Flourless dark chocolate cake with a melting chocolate center- best eaten while served hot per se, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. And you just can’t go wrong with it!
Indeed one of the best Italiane restaurant in town!
