Yeah, that was my childhood breakfast with parents every weekend – Toasted bread with butter and coconut jam. There were 3 types of bread: white bread, bun or whole meal bun; either toasted or steamed.
There was a Malay stall in front of the shop selling Nasi Lemak. Almost everyone would order a plate of rice and dine in with another toasted bread and a cup of hot coffee as their breakfast.
The rice was nothing special but the sambal did impress me much since it was not oily as others. The cuttlefish was well-cooked until tender and flavorful.
Other than the food, all the staffs and customers – Chinese, Malay and Indian were friendly to each other – harmony scenery.
