Manmaru Homemade Udon  Smile Aug 03, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Ramen/Udon/Soba

I was shopping at Mid Valley and ran out of places to eat. Suddenly, I spotted this new place. I am more of a sashmi person but the sashimi is very expensive here ranging from RM 48 to over RM 100. My friend said they seem to be famous for udon since it is in the name.

Contrary to this name, it did not live up to its name as I have discovered after eating the udon which was not cooked enough and too hard. Is Japanese udon texture supposed to be hard? I am not sure then. I ordered the Unagi Onsen Tamago Udon (RM 33.90) which was so tasty other than the uncooked udon. I love the half-boiled egg which is done just the way I like half-boiled eggs to be, very fluffy and soft and not a trace of the hardened yellow yolk. This dish is a combination of my two favourite items : half-boiled eggs (provided it is fluffy and not rubbery) and also unagi eel.

The Custom-made pizza (RM 19.90) was the best item here and thank god we ordered it. I ordered the sauce to be BBQ sauce, with fresh salmon slices and shimeji mushrooms. The pizza is also crispy and thin. I could order Matcha Latte for RM 4.90 to go with this set. The green tea latte was too milky and horrible even though the kind waiter patiently changed the latte for me and put in less milk. I am just not a person who loves milk. The kind waiter, Paul was so concerned whether I am ok with the changed latte but I could not drink it.

I drank the iced green tea instead. Probably I had too much light snacks during the food tasting/sampling session in  the convention centre during the taste convention today.

Super Kitchen Chilly Pan Mee  Smile Jul 31, 2015

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles

I had lunch with my parents during work time. I decided to bring them to the famous pan mee in seapark/SS2 which is here.

I ordered the famous Chilli Dry Pan Mee (RM 7). I love it because it has my favourite half-cooked egg which was soft and not rubbery and even very fluffy. When I mixed the egg with the pan mee in dry style, anchovies and also the lot of minced meat , it was so delicious and it has the most ingredients compared to pan mee elsewhere.

Dad ordered the Pan Mee Soup (RM 7) which was quite clear and not oily at all.

The herbal tea costs RM 2, fu chuk at RM 2 and my dry pan mee came with coca-cola which I did not finish as I was worried about the sugar content.

The dumpling soup was just ok and not much prawns inside hence it was not crunchy.

We have never been to this place before and I never realized there is a fish head cafe here. I usually eat at the chicken hor fun cafe nearby but we decided to try a different place today. I ordered the Garoupa Fish Fillet Bihun soup (RM 16 including GST) which was so fresh and delicious. I really liked the fish so much. The soup was not that oily too.

My friend ordered the fried fish fillet which looked a bit meaty and too hardened for me. I don't usually like fried fish fillet.

Definitely coming back here for fish bihun soup but be prepared to spend at least RM 16-23 for these but the price is worth it.

Thai Camp  Smile Jul 31, 2015

Categories : Thai | Restaurant

I have been wanting to come here for so long ever since I read in a blog about how famous this place is and how people actually sit in rows of tables outside. So finally today I saw it was opened an decided to give it a try since I had the fate to see it open today. This place is open on only Wednesdays to Sundays and only at 6-10 pm and you rarely see cafe opening hours like this.

The Lemongrass drink (RM 2) was not thick enough and I felt there was not enough flavours inside. I prefer the one at My Elephant.

We ordered a fried omelette (RM 10) which was deep fried with a lot of oil. There was some stuff inside the omelette but I could not make it out. I felt there was too much oil in all the cooking styles here.

We ordered the curry (RM 22) wrongly because we did not ask the waiter properly what type of meat was inside. Looking at the photo, we thought it was chicken but it turned out to be very oily pork meat which I rarely eat. We both did not finish it but the curry is something like Thai styled with a sourish taste.

The Kangkung (RM 12) was the best as it was not as oily as the ones you order in Chinese da chao. It was not overly spicy too.

There are many dishes to choose from here. I heard the cook is a Thai Lady.

The wall paintings are also very funky and creative and has a 3D feel to it.

The price of the food here is slightly expensive.

We are so happy as we finally found the cheapest and tastiest place to eat at KLIA 2 which is also strategically located in front of the departure gate.

I ordered the Bihun Siam Breakfast Set for only RM 10.90 which is quite cheap as it came together with Fried Bihun Siam with some small shreds of omelette which is so tasty that I didn't need sambal at all as it has taste and flavour by itself. The bihun was also very fragrant as it was made with kaffir leaves. But the crazy spice girl in me still requested for the nasi lemak sambal which was so fragrant.

The set also came together with 2 half-boiled eggs which I think was the winner of it all. I rarely say this about half-boiled eggs as I am very particular when it comes to half-boiled eggs. The egg yolk was not hardened and did not contain those hard pieces inside too. The white parts were not rubbery too. The egg was done exactly like how I like it.

For drinks for the combo, there was a choice of either coffee or nescafe or teh tarik. I chose coffee which came with thick milk. Thank god it was not overly sweet.
