I felt as though I was in another land and era, the moment I opened the glass door into Kitakami. I was basically spellbound by the ambience, interior, decor that transported me to the period of 1940s.

Since I was hungry, I eagerly went to the counter and ordered a Hazelnut Cappuccino (RM 9.90) and a plain
croissant (RM 4.90) whereas my friend ordered a flat white (About RM 8 or 9) and a Ham and Cheese Club Sandwich (RM 8.90).

While waiting for my food to arrive, I immediately went on a camwhoring frenzy, at every corner of the cafe.

I totally love the cappuccino compared to the ones sold at other commercial high-class coffee shops. There was even a flower drawn on top of the foam using chocolate! Totally love it so much!

Of course every cup and sip of coffee taken here has a better taste due to the ambience and cosy environment.

My friend's flat white is not bad though he said it is not as tasty and fragrant as cappuccino but I think it is alright.

The Mushroom Soup (RM 5.90) was a delight as the chunks of mushrooms were evident. In addition, I can detect they are not the normal button mushrooms but those foreign mushrooms cut into small pieces. Simply delectable when eaten with the plain croissants.

The Ham and Cheese club sandwiches which came last were amazing. They were delicately cut and not overburnt when toasted. There was also thousand island instead of creamy mayonnaise which I hated.

They even brought us a tall glass of plain water with a slice of lemon which added the tinge and made plain water taste better!

I am so excited to bring my BFF here since I know she and I are in love with vintage.

Chillout Fun Relax at Padi House  Smile Jan 30, 2014

Padi House is very inviting. Probably because of the minimalist interior and decor and the many fans with big blades make it very cooling. So this time round I happened to chance upon it at Sri Petaling when we were randomly looking for a hangout place. This place is very relaxing for chilling out too.

Since I was heaty, I did not order any of the cakes as they were mostly cheese and chocolate cakes.

So we only ordered drinks. I love the Green Tea Latte (RM8.90) where the milk was definitely from Farmhouse. The latte was very smooth and warm. The smell of milk which I usually do not like, was not evident.

My friend ordered Green Apple Juice (RM 5.90). This place is famous for its fresh fruit juice.

The most worthwhile steamboat buffet is at Fatman. It only cost RM 32.90 per adult whereas children price cost RM 16.90. The steamboat buffet here beats any of the other buffets I have tried in KL.

We can choose either normal clear soup/tom yam/spicy and hot/herbal soup but I always opt for a mix of herbal and tom yam.

There is so much variety from seafood to Yong Tau Foo ingredients to many types of vegetables and also mushrooms and noodles (from spinach noodles to 2 types of Ee Foo Mee : Small, smooth and rough, fish paste noodles, normal yellow mee, bihun, different type of bihun). Even the seaweed has 2 varieties!

The seafood area alone contained octopus, cuttlefish, crab, prawns, all types of shellfish such as cockles, mussels, oysters, lala, long bamboo shells, scallops and so many types of fish from bawal putih to the expensive type of fillet.

The vegetables and seafood here are also very fresh, which is rare in other steamboat buffets.

There was also BBQ food such as BBQ sticks of chicken or lamb or pork or bacon. The BBQ chicken with capsicum and onion is definitely the best.

This time round, there were some new additions such as very smooth Tau Fu Fa which we can eat with white sugar or brown sugar. It was very tasty and smooth.

The Fried Chicken Wings was so sweet from the glazened honey that every lick was heaven.

The new addition of Perfect Ice with a few flavours such as coffee/chocolate, dragonfruit, mango was incredible. Most buffets do not have shaved ice. One can also choose to eat ice-cream potong/sticks/drumsticks!

Another great addition is the Fresh Oysters with special seasoning which was so tasty!

There were also drinks such as cold tea, soyabean and some lemoney drinks.

I also like the rojak in the front part of the ubiquitious Fatman truck.

It is already 9 pm and I wonder what to eat at this time. My friend kept driving or would you say, cruising around Bandar Puteri Puchong and finally on the rainy day, I agreed with his choice of Am Sande. Eating there is as though we have reserved the entire restaurant because we were the only ones dining there. I had some pity for the proprietor and the employees there especially the old auntie whom I suspect is the cook, waitress and cashier, all-in-one.

Anyway, since the most famous here is roasted chicken, no hesitation needed. So I ordered the roast chicken which was very German and traditional. It even came with a small German flag on top of the cute chicken! The sauce was a let-down, as it was too thick and sticky, probably too much corn flour. The baked potatoes with sour cream sauce provided the consolation. The potato was very soft and not over baked, served in aluminium foil.

My friend ordered the Fried Spaghetti which was quite tasty. It tasted like something my mum usually cooks. There were a lot of ingredients and quite worth the price for only RM 9.90.

The Beetroot juice is so tasty and gave me all the confidence of the vitamin boost.

Overall, quite ok for restaurant that no one frequents. The only thing to avoid is the Roasted Chicken. Oh and did I mention the entire garlic bread is complimentary?

I am so excited that I have finally found the cheapest sushi in the world in a fantastic and quite classy ambience here! The price of each sushi was surprisingly cheap at RM 1! That is even cheaper than the sushi from Jusco so much so that I went on an ordering frenzy, ordering everything from eel to salmon, avocado, ebi, octopus, Shiro Maguro, Hotate (Scallop), Chuka Hotate, etc!

One can make any ala carte fish, eel or anything into a set by adding RM 10 for rice, miso soup, green tea, chawanmushi and salad. My friend ordered the Salmon Mentaiyaki which was actually lightly grilled salmon with fish roe on top. The salmon was not overcooked so the softness was maintained.

Overall I would rate this place 10/10 for the great cheap sushi at such a sophisticated ambience.
