Fruit Rojak Cry Mar 21, 2013   (Related Review)

The rojak stall was a new addition to the North 28 Restaurant. Since we wanted to eat something fruity, we decided to order this. RM4.50 for a small plate of mixed fruits seemed a bit too pricey. On top of that, if you want prawn crackers, you will need to RM1. The sauce is not fragrant, and literally did not have any prawn paste flavour. The fruits were also not too fresh, seems like they have been cut and left out for a long time. The crackers were also too hard. It was topped with a bit of sesame seed and a very limited amount of crushed peanuts. Overall, not recommended.

Cendol

Cendol

George Town White Coffee’s Teochew Cendol did not exceed my expectations. As it was a hot day, a bowl of cendol would be nice to beat the heat and quench the thirst. Unfortunately, I find this bowl of cendol too sweet, but it does not have the flavour or aroma of a regular cendol. There was not a lot of coconut milk in the cendol, which is probably why the aroma is not there. The ingredients include red beans, grass jelly and corn. This bowl of cendol costs RM4.90.

Honeydew Juice Cry Mar 20, 2013   (Related Review)

To wash down our meal, we ordered the honeydew juice. We were disappointed by the honeydew juice that was served. Bland and tasteless, I was literally drinking iced water with a bit of colouring. This could be due to the honeydew that was not sweet in the first place, and when water and ice was added in, this resulted in a poor glass of juice. However, credit has to be given as they did not try to sweeten the juice by adding syrup. Still disappointing though, and the price tag of RM9.80 definitely didn’t help.

Ipoh Sar Hor Fun Cry Mar 20, 2013

Xin Kee is located among the area of famous eateries in Sunway Mas. It brands itself as a Ipoh food restaurant, just like Sun Yin Loong, just down the street.

I ordered the Ipoh Sar Hor Fun. The hor fun was actually quite smooth, very similar to the ones I tried at Ipoh. It also has slices of steamed chicken which was a little too bland for my liking. The soup was also too bland, and does not have a nice flavour to it. The prawns were quite fresh and juicy. The dish also has some spring onions which gives some flavour to the dish. For RM5.00, it is a little on the pricey side as the portion is not very big.

Fried Sotong Cry Mar 19, 2013   (Related Review)

The fried sotong in Kwai Lam is not recommended at all. The sotong was overfried which resulted in a very chewy piece of seafood. The batter was also too hard and tasteless. Dry and unappetising, it was not a good ending to the meal. The fried sotong was served with thai chilli sauce dip, and that made it slightly more palatable. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t order this again.
