Chakri Palace OK Sep 11, 2013

The Mieng Kam is essentially a traditional Thai handroll served with seven types of ingredients. We have the peanut, baked shredded Coconut, Chili Padi, Diced Onions, Diced Lime, Diced Ginger, Sun Dried Shrimp and "Kaduk" Leaves served with the yummy shrimp paste sauce. Rolled into these cute bite-sized servings, I personally had more than my fair share of this dish.

Some Turkey Thai Salad ( Larb Gai Nguang) ensued, now this was a specially prepared dish for Christmas, as it uses Turkey meat instead of the usual chicken meat. The meat is minced, and prepared with a myriad of spices, with a dash of lime, it does tantalize our taste buds with spiciness and a dash of sourness.

Ben's OK Sep 11, 2013

So there I was at Ben's Publika after an event. It was part of their lunch buffet spread. The first picture shows the roasted chicken, with pasta and potatoes. Served hot, and with Lingham's chilli sauce, it had a sweet tangy taste. I did like the way Ben's prepared their pasta without being too oily.

My second dish, includes the "pai tee" from Ben's. Served in these cute top hats, it was crispy and had a nice taste when popped into the mouth. Pretty good and recommended.

Chilla Cup OK Sep 11, 2013

I did not know they made tortillas this big, nor this unique. We had Chilla Cup's piping hot Ham and Sweet Corn Tortillas which comprised of basically pizza material with the bulk of it being sweet corn, ham and loads of cheese. Love the thin crust, the cheese and ham did go well with the sweet corn albeit having this unique sweet taste.

The soup has arrived. One being Chilla Cup's mushroom soup and the other the Garlic Soup. Now I've tried their mushroom soup before and I must say it had a whole lot of mushroom in it. As for the garlic soup, it was my first time trying it, and I couldn't really get use to the pungent garlic taste of it. It was good to dip our toasted bread in though.

It was my first time over to Meatworks Restaurant, and from what I had gathered they do have a couple of other branches in KL and Singapore. The restaurant itself looked really clean and white, with chairs and tables which were of minimalist design. With a tagline that read, "For all your meaty cravings, and more", I was pretty hyped up at the prospect of some nice food.

The first to arrive at our table was our soup appetizers, namely the Cream Of Mushroom Soup. Unlike the usual mushroom soup available elsewhere, here you could actually taste the texture of the mushrooms used inside the soup. Essentially mixed mushrooms and cream topped up with buttered croutons and parsley, this soup alone filled up a third of my stomach, yes it was that filling.

Believe it or not, this Meatworks Potato Salad was one of my colleague's main dish, as it came in this really big serving of potatos tossed in mayo with spicy meaty chorizo and roasted capsicum. Personally I liked the meat pieces, but not so the potatoes.

It has been a while since my last food review. Waking up on mother's day today gave me the motivation to review what Janice and I had yesterday over at Sumo Onigiri Rice Ball Damansara Utama. I've heard of these Japanese rice balls before, but have not had the change to try it until now.

We were served first with some Miso Soup and Chawan Mushi to tantalize our taste buds before the barrage of rice balls to come. Served in this cute small bowl, Janice and I did like their Chawan Mushi as it was tasty without the heavy fishy smell found at some other spots. I wanted more though, but then the rice invasion came.

Here's a short fact about how Onigiri (Rice Balls) came about. Taking off Sumo Onigiri's menu description, Onigiris are popular among bento (single portion home-packed meal) makers. It's usually rice shaped into a triangle, oval or sphere with filling in the middle, wrapped in noti (toasted seaweed). The word "onigiri" literally means "taking hold of with your hands", which was exactly what we did to enjoy these balls. It had a nice sweet savoury taste to it.
