Pan Fried Soft Bun with Mixed Vegetable

Pan Fried Soft Bun with Mixed Vegetable

Perhaps most of us is familiar to xiao long pao. The dumpling wrapped in flour, loaded with minced meat in the pool of soup, is what xiao long pao is supposed to be. Similar to the concept of siao long pao, this was the bun version. I love the slight sourish in the dumpling, enhanced by the ginger soaked in vinegar. Though it was pan fried, it did not appear to me to be too oily.

Spinach with Salted Egg and Century Egg

Spinach with Salted Egg and Century Egg

The description alone was impressive, which was why we decided to order this to go with our rice. Loaded with two favorite eggs of mine, the flavor was just as predicted. It was very salty but the right type of saltiness that I would go for. Spinach was cooked to sogginess so that the flavor could blend better with the vegetable. It was more like a thicker version of spinach soup but so flavorful that you have to eat with rice!

I was very disappointed with all these dim sums as it was just beyond my imagination! Terriblee....
Rice Roll with Char Siew

Rice Roll with Char Siew

The filling of char siew was so pathetically scanty that it was just not worth the money. The rice roll was rough and tasteless. Worse than eating normal chee cheong fun.
Dumpling

Dumpling

The fillings was visible, which was a good indication. However the skin was thick and rubbery as if I were eating plastic. *faint*
Century Egg Porridge

Century Egg Porridge

As much as I thought it would be at least salty, it was not salty at all. In fact, it seemed to me the chef forgot about the salt.

Salad Prawn

Salad Prawn

The skin of salad prawn was alittle tough but crispy enough. The prawns weren't very fresh but at least it did not taste gamey.
Siew Mai

Siew Mai

The siew mai was not spectacular. Flavor wise, it was alright. Texture wise, it was normal. The use of fish roe on siew mai was purely decorative without contributing to the dish.
Yam Puff

Yam Puff

As far as yam puff goes, I did enjoy the crispy yam skin very much but the filling was not flavorful at all. Without soy sauce, it was dull.

Kuro Musashi Ramen Smile Jul 31, 2012

Kura Musashi Ramen

Kura Musashi Ramen

The ramen used for Kuro Musashi ramen is similar to the one in Aka Ajitama Chashu Men. The ramen looked like yellow mee that we usually see at hawker stall but the texture provided more resistance. You are given the choice to choose your own oil base for your ramen. It came with egg, pork and also some bamboo shoot. The egg was nice as it was very moist inside while the white was very tender and fragile. It was easier to finish this ramen compared to Aka Ajitama Chashu Men due to its slightly milder gravy.
