For quick lunch after dropping by the bank to run some errands, we decided to eat at KIP Seafood which was mom's favourite. I was just there because nobody wanted to eat banana leaf rice as I suggested. This was a new addition and a definite must order whenever I see it. This is the traditional loh bak which is flavoured meat wrapped in bean curd sheets which will be deep fried to crispy perfection. Honestly this was nothing too great to shout about even though the meat was leaner than most places, only thing is the flavour was lacking.By my request, we ordered this stir-fried potato leaves with brinjal in bean paste sauce. Oddly enough it came with several pieces of crisped up anchovies which I wasn't interested in. However this tasted really nice because of the salty sauce & softly braised brinjal which is my favourite.

The food here is rather weird in its flavour because the chef comes up with many different combinations. But all good so come here to give it a try!

With some free time over the weekend, mother decided to take a drive up to Semenyih for our favourite salt-fried chicken wings. It's kind of crazy to think that we'd go so far just to have some good food in between spending some quality time with family. But often times we do for adventures sake. THESE FRIED CHICKEN WINGS WERE THE BOMB. Crispy on the outside and super flavourful from the seasonings that were tossed over them after they come out of the fryer. Then, they also toss in lots of garlic, chopped chillies and spring onion. I can eat so many of these in one go.And because this is my favourite, we also ordered a yam basked with pork meat. The yam was really yummy but I didn't really care too much about the filling cause it was too sweet for me. Though everyone else really liked it. We also ordered a steamed fsh with simple soya sauce & some sliced ginger. The fish was fresh so there was no mushy bits of meat and the sauce that it came with was good too. However there really isn't much to shout about.

If you are in the area then definitely pay this restaurant a visit if not just for the chicken. Trust me, you won't regret it 

Sometimes all that my mind can think of throughout the day is food and what kind I want to eat. Often times I find myself craving for things like Thai, Banana Leaf Rice or Japanese. The latter is usually the one I can get to eat easier than the other two.

Thankfully my mom usually understands my crazy food cravings and would bring me to eat at restaurants that she's tried before & thinks are good. Kuriya is one of those places that we opted to have lunch at one weekend. Because I was on a journey to eat slightly healthier, we ordered this simple salad. It was actually pretty alright and I think that I thought so because it came with a few slices of avocado. Give me some of that and I'm happy. Plus the sesame dressing always makes any salad taste super awesome, just because its the Japanese sesame sauce. And because I cannot stop myself from ordering sushi, we ordered this california roll to share. For the price that we paid it was alright but really nothing to shout about - seems like I can get the same and maybe even better from my favourite sushi place. To share, we ordered the grilled saba with teriyaki sauce bento set. I actually quite liked this because the entire set came with one good set of meal - there was the fish, rice, agedashi tofu, chawanmushi, miso soup and some fruits. It was good that we only ordered one set or else two would be too much.

While the portion is good, the taste was only so-so. Again its nothing out of the ordinary that you can't just get at another sushi joint, but the ambience is nice so I guess we were mainly paying for that. 

Chew Jetty is my boss' favourite place to go to when he feels like having something local. At least to him anyways since he was born and raised in Penang so he prefers flavours that are more in tuned to that part of the country. Sometimes for lunch we would venture over there for some good old noodles. 

However my favourite happens to be the deep friend lobak. You can either order one roll or the set which comes in threes. This is super good because it is fried to order, so it arrives to your table super hot and crunchy. The filling is also pretty nice without it being flour-y or bland tasting. Plus the wrapping is always seasoned nicely and there is a good ratio of meat to wrapping.

I can eat all three of this myself especially when dipped in the chilli belacan that they have. Try the noodles as well because they are pretty good and expect it to be quite busy during lunch time as this place is rather popular. 

For lunch after running errands with my friend, we decided to grab something to eat nearby Nu Sentral since we were already there. Plus we wanted to re-visit Brickfields area since it's been a year or two since we had been around there after we were done with college. We saw Chilli Espresso which was very new to us so we decided to give it a try.For me, I got the ulam fried rice with sambal chicken. I actually really liked this because thr rice was very fragrant and also a very substantial portion, not just for a normal eater like me but also a big eater. Then the chicken tasted super good especially with the sambal which was spicy but there's also a subtle sweetness to it which I liked a lot. My friend ordered the grilled chicken with black pepper sauce. Actually this was pretty good too because I tried some of it and wished I had ordered this instead. The only thing is that I'm not a super fan of chicken so that's why I opted for the rice instead. Though this made me change my mind for a second. 

Although I was a little apprehensive about this place upon entry, but I was pleasantly surprised. Which explained why there was quite a few people already eating there even though it wasn't quite lunch time yet. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu and perhaps have some of that chicken again.
