Hubby and I went for lunch at this Fun Taipei cafe not long ago. The place looks nice, with lots of magazines and books for the customers to read during the wait for their food. We ordered the minced pork noodles set, which consists of a bowl of noodles topped with minced pork, braised tofu in the gravy, stir-fry french beans, braised hard boiled egg, and a bowl of soup. The tofu tastes pretty good but everything else are so-so.

Same as the minced pork rice, pretty ordinary. Perhaps the minced pork itself is not too flavourful, the gravy could be thicker.

We also ordered the Fried oysters, and the Noodles threads with Oysters. The fried oyster is a huge disappointment. They are deep-fried yet not crispy at all. I can only taste the oil, but not the aroma of the batter nor oysters.

The noodles threads with oyster is eatable, but not up to the bar as yet I would say.

I was craving for some savory sancks the other day when I walked in to the Little Taiwan eatery. Not wanting something huge or oily, I ordered the Taiwanese Special Toast. The center of the thick toast is being empty and used as a bowl kind of. The filling consists of some chicken chunks, peas, corn kennels and mushroom that cooked in starchy gravy. The flavour is quite Ok, but it's a bit too starchy for me that I don't really enjoy eating it towards to end.

Healthy choice Smile Jan 15, 2012

I love Moo Cow yogurt since the first time I tried it. And trust me, that very first time I bought it, was simply because it's name sounds fun, and the icon looks cute and attractive, nothing more. But ever since then, I sort of become its loyal fans.

My favourite so far is the Wheatgrass flavoured Yogurt, which can hardly be found in other yogurt shops! As we know wheatgrass is claimed for its health properties, together with yogurt, it's doubly healthy! Wheatgrass yogurt from Moo Cow doesn't really have the strong greenish taste from the plant, very well-done. To have the yogurt with almond flakes, it's simply too good in a hot day.

Delicious Japanese meal Smile Jan 15, 2012

Wasabi Bistro is located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel right next to KLCC shopping mall. The restaurant has a very cozy interior design, with great ambiance too.

Before starting our meal, the waitress serves us a complementary starter - celery & carrot sticks chilled in ice, which comes with a homemade sauce (that tastes like sesame paste). Very refreshing!

We ordered the signature dish - Kumi's No.1 ! A must try for sure! It's basically the crabmeat mix and avacado wrapped with white fish, and baked with chef's secret sauce! Too yummy that one is never enough!

I reckon Papaya Motoyaki is another must try dish. The papaya boat is filled with lots of seafood and baked with motoyaki sauce. The creamy sauce is so well-balanced with the sweetness of the papaya. Gorgeous!

Ten Zaru Soba is refreshing too, though it's nothing too special about it. Alright but no wow factor.

We also ordered Dynamite scallop, which is another signature dish of the restaurant. The hotpot is layered with rice, then topped with lots of scallops and mushrooms, finally pour over the Dynamite sauce(spicy mayonaise) and baked till golden. Sinfully delicious.

Good dinner Smile Jan 14, 2012

We started the meal with the chicken soup. With generous amount of chicken meat and stew for long, the soup tastes really sweet, and most importantly you won't feel thirsty after drinking it.

We then tried the famous xiao long bao. It is quite nice, the skin of the bun is not too thick. Also, both the minced meat and the soup are well done too.

The salted egg yolk prawn is the best dish of the night. The prawn is slightly deep-fried and well-coated with the salted egg yolk. Very tasty to eat with rice.

The pork chop with fried rice is quite ordinary. The pork chop is a bit dry, I'm sure I can find a better one elsewhere.

To end the dinner, we had the yam paste with ginko. The yam paste is rich and it tastes yummy when it's served hot.
