Fusion Food That Can't Go Wrong Smile Jan 31, 2012

This is another fusion restaurant from the group which started Sushi Zanmai hence the word zanmai in the end of the name. The concept of pasta zanmai brings along Italian and Japanese style of cooking. You can find many varieties of pasta and pizza’s with Japanese style coking and ingredients.

One of my favorite dishes in here is the scallop pizza. The pizza used is thin crust pizza which is crispy yet not too flaky. There is a thin layer of tomato paste which is used to hold the ingredients onto the pizza crust. Each slice of pizza has a healthy amount of mushrooms, herbs and a large juicy scallop. I like how the mayonnaise sauce brings out the full flavor of the mushrooms and scallop and the chefs are not stingy with it either.

"Not So" Casual Japanese Dining Smile Jan 29, 2012

I was curious about the term casual Japanese when I entered the restaurant. How d you define casual and what do they mean by being casual The staffs were very polite but i was shocked when they started kneeling to take your orders.. was that considered as casual dining

I opted for the lunch set and settled with the unagi set. It came with a garden salad and a cup of drink of your choice. The garden salad was fresh and the corn used was juicy. The had a hint of sesame taste in it. The unagi was served on a hotplate with your own mini gas stove. Apart from unagi, there was a variety of herbs and vegetables along with mushrooms in the hotplate. The unagi was thinly filleted and deboned. I was also given a raw egg to mix into the soup. The soup enhanced the taste of the unagi and it melt the moment it enters my mouth. lol

Pork Burger Smile Jun 11, 2012

Over the weekend, a friend of mine kept on praising how the pork burger she had was amazing and will not stop until we drove over to the restaurant to try it out with her. The pork bacon burger was shared between the two of us even though she insisted on having the whole burger to herself. The patty was huge and looks juicy even from the photos and I had a hard time trying to cut the burger into two. To my surprise, the insides of the burger is hollowed out to contain cheese which leaked out like lava. The burger was juicy though it was a little scalding even after letting it cool off a bit. I loved the bacon strips as it was a little crisp on the edges which gives it a slight hint of smoky flavors.

Nutella Ice Cream Smile Jan 11, 2012

Nutella ice cream

Nutella ice cream

Ice-cream makes me happy but not just any brand will satisfy me. Whenever I have the time, I would visit the Last Polka for their homemade ice-creams. I particularly enjoy nutella ice-cream.

It has a creamy texture and its like reminiscing my childhood where I would dip the butter knife into the jar of nutella and lick it off. The nutella ice-cream tasted sweeter and more milky than ordinary Nutella

Fulfilling Bowl of Rice Smile May 30, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Restaurant | Noodles | BBQ

I ordered the loh bak rice set which comes with with braised egg and braised tofu. The rice originally comes with the salted vegetable as condiment. The whole meal was served in a small bowl and was nearly overflowing. I felt like those HK construction

workers with their big bowl of rice in their hand. XD The small bowl makes it hard to mix everything. The gravy and meat was very fragrant but the braised egg and tofu was a disappointment as it was not braised long enough to absorb the fragrance of the gravy.
