the extraordinary Home Dining Smile Aug 07, 2012

one of my friends told me before~ he wanted to have a home dining business when he is retired... the idea sounds great and warm... that is why when i 1st read about Huck's Cafe, it attracted me~ planned to give it a try with my beloved buddies on my birthday... something went wrong, i didn't manage to visit as planned... an invitation given as sincere apologize... and we decided to accept~
1st impression of Huck's Cafe: they are so understanding that they thought about the car parking problem of their guests... spacious courtyard for the guests to park their cars... walked into the bungalow, warm lighting, soft music and of course nice decor and furniture gave me a cozy and comfortable feeling like i'm at home~ that's the most important element of home dining i suppose... i didn't take any picture of Huck's Cafe's interior... visit them if you are keen to find out~ lol
as soon as all of us were seated, 1st drink served... before we were there, plain water in bottle and glasses, basic table settings were already nicely set on the table... a table of 6~ let's see what Huck has prepared to surprise us...
Asparagus Soup

Asparagus Soup

tasted great with the chopped asparagus in it~
Wrap Me Tender

Wrap Me Tender

Huck said he created this specially for Lovebirds~
3 types of fresh mushrooms fried with olive oil, garlic and black pepper...
wrapped with chicken breast and again with layers pastry...
served with creamy mustard sauce that cooked with white wine...
the pastry was crunchy, the chicken breast was tender and juicy...
overall was a great matching...
Ocean Deep

Ocean Deep

this Nyonya fusion was great!
when it was served to our table, the fragrance of it already stimulated our taste bud...
spaghetti in Nyonya style with scallop, New Zealand muscle and prawns...
Wild Rocket Chili Mushroom Chicken

Wild Rocket Chili Mushroom Chicken

i believe this is another Huck's creation of fusion dish...
with lots of wild rocket, chili, mushroom and lemon~
topped with fresh vegetables and sprinkled with cheese...
it was great~ i only managed to have very little bit...
they forgot i haven't tasted it... the disadvantage of eating slow~ mad
Parmigiana Chicken Mushroom

Parmigiana Chicken Mushroom

boneless chicken drumstick topped with cheese and grilled to perfection...
the very special mushroom sauce added some extra points to it~
the chicken drumstick was well marinated and juicy...
another hot item of the night~ finished in seconds...
Lamb Burg

Lamb Burg

the best selling item in Huck's Cafe according to Huck~
and i will agree to everyone who said it was awesome!
the homemade lamb patty with special sauce...
healthier bread to replace the normal burger bread...
fresh vegetables and the cheese... hmm~ yummy!
i love the side dish very much too... the cheesy sweet corns... slurp!
Lamb Shank

Lamb Shank

lamb shank marinated with rosemary, thyme, garlic, cumin and other herbs~
roasted for 2 hours... served with mashed potatoes and button mushrooms...
the lamb shank was tender and juicy... the mashed potatoes was great!
but because we cut it into small pieces for sharing, the sauce wasn't enough... shocked
Bird Nest

Bird Nest

we picked a 5 sharing dessert which named Bird Nest...
it was a mixture of ice-cream, chocolate bar and chocolate cookies...
served in a dark chocolate made bowl and topped with toffee...
it was nice but we tasted the durian taste in it~
i guess they must have keep some of the ingredients together with durian in the fridge...
but still we finished most of it! tongue

it was a great dining experience in Huck's Cafe... we may have an unpleasant starting, but now i will recommend Huck's Cafe to everyone that is looking for a quiet, private and cozy place for gathering or dinner... i like the way Huck treat his guests... with all his sincerity, his passion and his creative cooking... for a man who is not from cooking background, he really has the cooking blood in him~ he told me, he started with cooking for his kids... then his friends, his friends' friends... and now he has his own real Huck's Cafe... i believe what the fortune teller said was right... he was a chef in his last life~ and his talent remains... =) will definitely go back to try more of his cooking... this time, with family maybe? ^^
little tips for you who wanted to visit Huck's Cafe~ go on Tuesday or Wednesday, so that you can enjoy a quiet and peaceful dinner... if you like the environment to be more lively, Thursday to Sunday will be good as they will be full house and you can see kids running around~ (information provided by Huck) to make reservation, kindly go to their Facebook page for details and information... and of course, for your choice of menu... Bon Appetit! smile

went to Poco Homemade again with mom, sis and baby niece...
after so long, finally i get to bring mom there~ smile
it was a wonderful Sunday~
with my beloved family and the yummy-licious homemade dessert~
Irish Cream Pecan Cheesecake RM 13.00

Irish Cream Pecan Cheesecake RM 13.00

baby niece's favourite cake...
she finished half of it...
it was really nice as it was not too sweet...
and the fragrance of pistachio made it perfect~
Pistachio Cake RM 12

Pistachio Cake RM 12

Irish Cream Pecan Cheesecake made with coffee liquor~
mom loves it but i think the coffee liquor was a little too much...
the taste of liquor was too strong and has covered the fragrance of cheese...
if you love coffee like my mom does, this would be a great choice...

the first time i had pepper rice was in Food Republic...

i like the strong pepper fragrance and the mixture of corn, beef and rice~
of course this is so much better if compare with the Food Republic one...
more proper and well presented...
Ishiyaki Omuraisu RM 21.90

i can't remember what it is in english...
it tasted like fried rice with their special sauce...

it was just nice which i can taste the coffee and a little sweet of the milk...
and it's not so filling... just nice for dessert... =)

ever since 1 Utama Shopping Center done with it's old wing renovation~
there are lots of new restaurant setting up for their patrons...
Petite Millie is one of the restaurants that attracted my attention...
there was a day almost all the bloggers' link showed the title "Petite Millie"...
so, we went on a Saturday date~ smile
Petite Millie = Little Millesime

Petite Millie = Little Millesime

an extension of restaurant Millesime located in Menara Kencana Petroleum in Solaris Dutamas area...
setting based on the modern European casual dining...
cuisine served is French influenced~
(information from their Facebook page)
Darjeeling Tea & Peppermint Tea RM 7.00 each

Darjeeling Tea & Peppermint Tea RM 7.00 each

simple tea with refillable hot water...
served with piece of nice cookie...
the cookie was really good~
Poutine Cheek... and it's deadly RM 26.00

Poutine Cheek... and it's deadly RM 26.00

the 6 hours braised beef cheek served on bed of fries and topped with sliced cheese...
mixed everything and enjoy the tender juicy beef cheek~
the fries were so great after soaked in the gravy...
it was really filling as there were lot of fries...
Poutine is one of their signature dishes... MUST TRY item! lol
Manilla Clams Linguine RM 26.00

Manilla Clams Linguine RM 26.00

served a la minute braised clams with garlic and chili flakes...
topped with saffron aioli~
it was good but the portion was slightly small...
bf said he didn't feel anything in his stomach when he finished the linguine... mad
Luv a Duck RM 23.50

Luv a Duck RM 23.50

had another of their signature dish - Tartine, the 'tarting' sandwich...
i wanted the tartine introduced by the bloggers but i couldn't find it in the menu~
then i saw the lady sitting next to us was having the tartine...
then, i told the waiter i wanted the same...
peppered duck breast and fresh rocket leaves bedded on country bread...
so yummy! oh ya~
it served alongside with the "fries" which made from the crispy edge of Tarte Flambee...
healthier and it was really good... but, i missed out a shot of the "fries"... sad
never mind~ i will definitely go back for things that i've yet to try...
like Leprechaun's Brew, The One Tartine and Millie Mascarpone... tongue

Good Balinese food Smile Sep 24, 2012
Categories : Indonesian | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Seafood

it was the Friday before the long weekend, we decided to have good dinner to kick start our holiday... tongue
our initial plan was to have Italian food, but i changed my mind when i saw the promotion bunting...
20% discount on total bill for Public Bank debit or credit card users...
and yes! immediately we decided to have our dinner at
Ole-Ole Bali, Sunway Pyramid

Ole-Ole Bali, Sunway Pyramid

i peaked into the indoor dining area~
Ole-Ole Bali, Sunway Pyramid has very nice environment and ambiance...
with all the Balinese style furniture and decoration...
i peaked into the indoor dining area...
it looks grand with the Balinese style interior~
big table for group

big table for group

one of the table at the outdoor seating area...
we were seating right beside the big table at a table for 2... ^^
as soon as we were seated, a young waitress brought us the menu and left us with it...
we decided what to eat by looking around and tips in Foursquare...
as soon as we placed our orders, we got our table set...
Barley Lime RM 6.00

Barley Lime RM 6.00

we wanted something refreshing but not expensive...
i know RM 6.00 for Barley Lime was not cheap but at least it worth the money we paid...
the combination of Barley and Lime was just nice...
and it was really refreshing~
while i was still busy taking photo of the drink, our food served..
Siap Bumbu RM 28.00

Siap Bumbu RM 28.00

i got shock when the food served to me...
is it for 1 person or for sharing of 2?
really big portion as you can see from the above picture...
half Balinese Roasted Chicken, marinated with lemongrass served with Rempeyek (Anchovy Crackers), Lawar Kacang (Bean Salad), Nasi Minyak (Yellow Rice), fried Kangkung (vegetable), Sambel Terasi & Sambel Matah...
the chicken was really nice with the fragrance of the spices...
it was really flavourful, but the chicken was too dry on the breast part...
Nasi Campur RM 35.00

Nasi Campur RM 35.00

another rice set with super big portion...
for all the seafood lover, this is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...
combination of Balinese Grilled Lemongrass Prawns, Squid, Fish, Sate Lilit and choice of Beef or Chicken Rendang, served with Rempeyek (Anchovy Crackers), Lawar Kacang (Bean Salad), Nasi Putih (White Rice), fried Kangkung (vegetable), Sambel Terasi & Sambel Matah...
the prawns, squid and fish were fresh and grilled to perfection...
we had Beef Rendang instead of chicken and it was good~ tender and flavourful...
the Sate Lilit was something similar to Otak-Otak...
but i think it was very much better than Otak...
it was really worth of money! =D

all these while, i thought Ole-Ole Bali served expensive food...
but this visit has changed my mind as their food and beverages are all priced at a very reasonable price...
their service was prompt and friendly...
food was really good and worth of money...
definitely a good place for gathering with friends and family...
or even romantic dinner with love one~
hmm... i'm craving for the Nasi Campur already...
they are doing promotion together with Public Bank...
with Public Bank debit / credit card, get 20% off on total bill...
promotion valid till 31 December 2012...
don't miss the chance to enjoy the good food pals~ ^^
