earl grey jelly+ cheesecake OK Sep 09, 2012

In addition of the summer drinks promotion, Starbucks rolled out new cakes to complement the new drinks. The cheesecake is infused with chunks of earl grey jelly at the bottom. The jelly itself was refreshing but it did not go well with the cheesecake. The cheesecake was a normal marble cheesecake which was tasted sourish on its own so it was hard for the jelly to go well with the cake as both taste stand at opposite end of the spectrum.

green tea+azuki red bean cake OK Sep 09, 2012

The picture above is one of Starbucks newest line of cakes for the summer promotion, its called the green tea cheesecake with azuki red beans. The green tea cheesecake was a bit sweet for my liking but the green tea gave it a refreshing taste. When you poke your fork into the cake you can't feel any resistance as the mousse is very soft unlike the resistance you get from the cheesecake. The azuki red beans were crunchy but a little dry.

Pineapple fried rice OK Sep 05, 2012

I was supposed to meet up an old friend at this cafe but ended up having a meal on my own. The waiter recommended the pineapple fried rice which he claims is their signature dish and I decided to get a plate to see how it fares. There were huge chunks of pineapple in the fried rice but it was not really juicy and had a dry texture to it though. The rice was abit too oily for my liking but it was fragrant and there was enough wok hei to it.

absolute chocolate cake OK Sep 03, 2012

In my opinion, Secret Recipe used to serve one of the best cheesecakes in town. A few years back, it would be hard to get a table there during peak hours but not now anymore. The picture above is the absolute chocolate cheesecake. The darker color chocolate is actually a layer of chocolate cookie which is quite crunchy and sweet. The cocoa powder on top made the cake very dry and the cream did not help much either in complementing the taste.

Red Ruby OK Jul 02, 2012   (Related Review)

For a place that serves up the most authentic Thai dishes, their dessert sure fall short of the mark. The only dessert I could find on the menu that is from Thailand is the red ruby. The water chestnut has a layer of red gelatinous coating over it and it gives off a crunchy aftertaste. The coconut milk was watered down with ice which makes it kinda of bland.
