The Rama V Thai Restaurant has been in KL for awhile. Famous for its premium Thai food dining with good atmosphere, we decided to celebrate a friend's birthday at the restaurant. For the benefit of those who aren't familiar with the KL city road, you could waze your way there or if you are heading to Jalan Imbi area using Jalan Tun Razak, I'm sure you will pass by this Daimler Show Room on your left, just across the road before you reach Prince Court Medical Hospital. Turn left in before the show room and Rama V will be on your right. It is located in an old but classy white Banglow. When you step in, you will notice there is a small pond right outside the air conditioned restaurant. Separated by a glass window and door, you can actually walk out and there are some smaller huts for both 10 pax or even 2 pax. The sight of the lily flowers are so pretty as well.As for food, we had the regular tom yam (white based), stir fry brinjal, kangkung with squid as well as prawns. The prawns looks so good and taste even better! It was so fresh, the meat was juicy with roe. Too good. The Tom Yam on the other hand was normal. The portion was a little small for us as well. Stir fry brinjal is tasty, aromatic and perfect to pair with our rice and dishes. We ended our meal with a birthday cake and birthday song for our birthday girl! continue reading

The restaurant iscrowded with people when we arrived around 1pm. The environment was lovely andromantic. I loved their environment. Tom Yum Seafood Soup is the star of the day. Everyone loved it. The seafood is fresh and soup has an amazing combination of hot & sour flavour. Tom Yum Seafood Soup @ RM 18Minced Beef with Hot Basil was yummy but the portion was rather small. Minced Beef With Hot Basil @ RM 32.Steamed Rice was unlimited refills. Steamed Rice @ RM 5 per pax.Green Curry has a rich flavour and creamy. A trip to a Thai restaurant would not be complete without trying any Tom Yam which is what Thai restaurants are famous for. Whenever I go for Rama V’s lunch buffet I would never fail to order their Tom Yung Kung and pair it with a bowl of rice. The tom yam has a large variety of spices in it and I like how the mushrooms in the soup soak up the flavours. You can opt for meatless tom yam soup while ordering too but it usually comes with chicken slices. continue reading

continue reading
