Lor Mee OK Aug 03, 2012   (Related Review)

This was my first time hearing about Lor Mee. Apparently, it is more common in Penang and I don't really see it in KL. It is yellow mee in a thick starchy soup, sometimes with egg, chicken, pork or inner organs, depending on the vendor. This one did not have a hard boiled egg but it had chicken shreds and chunks. The thick soup is different from normal watery ones. Although I did not like it much, my friend said it tasted ok.

Prawn mee Smile Aug 03, 2012   (Related Review)

Phew.. I must warn you that this is VERY spicy! You can see that the colour of the soup is already reddish instead of a normal brown colour. Prawns were fresh and the flesh was sweet and crunchy. Actually it is just a regular looking bowl of prawn mee with mihun, beansprouts etc but the prawns are bigger than other places and it is yummier too! Suggest you to have a cup of water nearby.

Asam laksa Smile Aug 03, 2012   (Related Review)

Even though the restaurant's name is Loke Sok Seafood, they also have several small stalls selling other foodstuff. Experienced my first Penang laksa here. The bowl was chocked full of ingredients! It had an abundance of cucumbers, shredded fish, pineapples, onions, mint leaves and of course, a spoonful of fragrant prawn paste. The combination of spicy, salty, sour and minty was awesome. Noodles were really bouncy too.

Seafood OK Aug 03, 2012   (Related Review)

This is a plate of some assorted seafood. Honestly, I think that if a dish has to depend mainly on its sauces for flavour, it is not a very good dish. These, especially the tofu (did not even have the bean taste) were rather bland. The fish cake in crab shell may look good but it was incredibly hard to remove from the shell! Overall, the seafood's fresh and the fried ones were oily. Just would have preferred more taste.

Octopus Smile Aug 03, 2012

When we arrived at Gurney Drive, the first thing we noticed was the vast ocean view. Then when we turned around, we discovered that the whole street was full of seafood restaurants! We simply walked into one that looked more simple and less expensive. Ordered a plate of these lightly boiled octopus that were slightly salted. Very fresh and yummy! Absolutely enjoyed chewing on the crunchy and salty octopus.
