Early morning nasi lemak Smile Feb 26, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Nasi Lemak

This stall opens early in the morning and sells out by 8.30 am. They're located outside a kopitiam (Foon Lei) at the corner beside the market. There are no tables so you have to takeaway. Many people even bring their own containers!

The basic nasi lemak comes with cockles, potatoes, vege, halved hard boiled egg, ikan bilis and peanuts. However, you may request for more or less of anything. You can add on fried egg, curry chicken or even sotong.

These two packets cost slightly over RM 10 which I deem affordable considering all the extra we took. They taste great and the sambal is just love! You should probably ask for more if they allow it. The curry is good enough though.

Friday set Smile Feb 26, 2013

Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant | Noodles | Nasi Lemak

Initially, I had my eyes on something else on their menu but their daily promotion sets caught my eye. It was Friday so I chose that day's deal which came with a cup of Iced Lemon Tea and you can add on RM 1 for a scoop of ice cream.

I did not regret ordering the Nasi Lemak Curry Chicken! The rice was really fragrant and I finished all of it with the delicious curry sauce and delectable sambal which wasn't too spicy. The chicken meat was really juicy and soft, with a fair bit of flesh. I enjoyed my meal and wouldn't mind returning!

Fishball noodle OK Feb 26, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

Brought here to try their apparently famous fishball noodles.

Typical kopitiam setting with lots of seating available.

Warning : This is really spicy! Freshly made sambal belacan with lots of chopped chilli to go with your food.

The place looks clean with adequate utensils and even a huge packet of tissues on each table.

This is the Fishball Noodle (mihun) which costs RM 5.50. You can add on other ingredients like fish head (RM 14) too. The basic one comes with fried fish paste, a tiny bit of seaweed, a couple of leaves and 5 bouncy fishballs.

There isn't much taste in the bowl so you're better off adding some chilli but it's so spicy, I had to skip it and ended up having a less than satisfying meal. Also, I had mine with glass noodles and it was sadly overcooked so the noodles were really flimsy (and oddly thinner than usual) like mihun.

Fish Smile Feb 24, 2013   (Related Review)

This dish was easily mistaken as a variety of things (I guessed oyster mushroom) but once I bit into it, I realized it was one of the best fried fish I've ever tasted! The flesh was so very soft and smooth. The sesame seeds it was fried with added some texture and crunch to it. The provided sweet sauce added some flavour but I preferred the natural taste of the fish (it was fresh too).

Salad Smile Feb 24, 2013   (Related Review)

The salad (I believe apple salad) had us all munching away on it! It was an assortment of green apple, carrots, peanuts and more, thinly sliced and tossed with a sour sauce. It was crunchy and refreshing. The sweet and sour taste opened our appetites and we cleaned the plate! There isn't anything I don't like about this dish and I would recommend you to try it out!
