Yee Mee Soup OK Dec 24, 2012

Yee Mee Soup (RM 4.50)

Yee Mee Soup (RM 4.50)

Recently, I have been craving for Yee Mee soup. Thus to fix my craving, I went to DDP Food Court for a bowl of Yee Mee soup. The ingredients given are minced pork, fish cake slices, meat balls, pork slices and vegetables. If you are feeling hungry, you can also ask to add an egg. I had mine without egg. I quite like the minced pork because they are slightly marinated giving them a nice taste. However, the soup on that day was too salty; unlike its' usual clear sweet taste (from the ingredient used in brewing the soup). Not sure why that day is so salty. Drank lots of water to clear of the saltiness in my mouth. Besides, the yee mee was also quite hard. The operator should have cooked them longer to make the mee softer.

Seafood and beer garden is actually a newly opened eating place situated at Restoran U Like It in Taman Desa which operates from 5.00 pm to midnight. During the day, this place is full of operated stalls like wan tan mee stall, pan mee stall and chicken rice stall. In the evening, Restoran U Like It is taken over by Seafood and Beer Garden. One can choose either to sit in the shop or sit outside (open air just like the picture above). Mum and I went there last week to have our dinner there and we ordered the following dishes.

Peanut Pig Tendon in Claypot (RM 25.00)
I quite like the chewy texture of the tendons but I like them to be softer. The accompanying peanuts were quite tasty. This dish is on the dry side because as you can see, there very little gravy being given. It would be good if more gravy being given. Mum said this dish is not worth the money we paid because the portion is quite small and the taste were so-so.

Beancurd with Sponge Gourd (RM 8.00)
The beancurd given is smooth and soft and also came in big piece. If I am not wrong, only four pieces were given. I am not sure why but the sponge gourd used in this dish is quite bitter. Bitter than bitter gourd. Tastewise, the accompanying gravy is quite tasteless. Overall, I didn't like this dish because of the sponge gourd's bitterness.

To conclude, I don't think I will come back another time for their food as their fodd is really just OK!

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Yong Tau Fu

Had lunch with mum, aunt and cousin at Wai Kee Restaurant. The purpose is of course to try out their famous Yong Tau Foo. Although Wai Kee is famous for its Hakka food, the Yong Tau Foo is not made the Hakka way. The Yong Tau Foo's fillings were made of pure fish paste instead of the Hakka way of mixed pork and fish paste.

10 pieces of assorted Yong Tau Foo

We ordered 10 pieces of Yong Tau Foo which consisted of chilli, brinjal, "foo chuk", bittergourd & "taufu pok". The fish paste portion given in each piece of stuffed Yong Tau Foo were generous because the Yong Tau Foos were fully stuffed with tasty fish paste and the fish paste were slightly springy. The Yong Tau Foos are served on a plate of light soy sauce. Each piece of the yong tau foo is RM 1.00.

Stuffed chilli, bittergourd and taufu pok.
My favourite is the bittergourd because the bitter gourd's bitter taste is so good with the fish paste.

P/S: Please be there early or you will have to wait for a while before being getting a table as the place is especially packed during lunch hours and also prepare to wait for your food to arrive. We waited for about 20 minutes for the food to arrive.

Rice & Noodles from Ko Hyang OK Aug 18, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Korean | Restaurant | Noodles

Recently, I went to Ko Hyang for some Korean food. The foods are as below:

Kim Chi Bokem Bab (RM 13.90)
Kim Chi Bokem Bab is actually Kim chi fried rice with egg. The egg is served with a sunny side up egg on top of the fried rice. Fearing of the raw egg yolk taste, I immediately burst the yolk and let the yolk seep through the fried rice while it is still hot. I quite like this fried rice because the kimchi flavor is just right. Not too spicy or sour. Besides, it is also rich in onion slices which is good because I like onions.

Ra Myeon
Ra Myeon is actually a hot and spicy seafood noodle with vegetables. The seafood used in this spicy noodles are lala and prawns. Both the lala and prawns were fresh. The noodles have a nice springy texture. However, sad to say that this hot and spicy noodles tasted like those instant korean packet noodles from the supermarket. In fact, it is pretty tasteless.

Pasta Zanmai is a Japanese restaurant under the SuperSushi group which serves Japanese + Western fusion food. Following are the drinks and pizza my friends and I had while we were there.

Hot Green Tea (R 3.00)
The green tea is of good quality as it has very strong green tea taste.

Bluberry soda & Passion fruit soda before mixing
Both the blueberry and passion fruit soda are pariced at RM 6.00 each.

Bluberry soda & Passion fruit soda after mixing
Nothing to shout about these drinks. Tasted like ordinary soft drinks.

Teriyaki chicken pizza (I think is around RM 20-22)
This pizza is a lovely combination of Japanese and Western flavor. It is very different from pizzas from Pizza Hut or Dominos. The crust is crispy and thin, almost like biscuit. The pizza was topped with a hot spring egg, seaweeds and teriyaki chicken. Mayonnaise was used as dressing, making the pizza creamy. The tender chicken meats were marinated nicely with teriyaki sauce making them slight sweet in taste.

Hot Spring Egg
It is best to break this hot spring egg when the pizza is hot and mix with the other pizza toppings to have a yummy pizza. It is really worth trying out this pizza.........thumbs up...........
