For this holy month of Ramadhan, Terazza Brasserie has live ghazal performance by the Kumpulan Wak Long. So nice the music goes with the food, I enjoy the ramadhan buffet spread with many live cooking stations and as well as live grilling of meat and seafood.

For some beefy dish, I tried this with the sweet and spicy cooking style. Braised with turmeric leaves, chilli and coconut milk for hours, the short ribs are very flavoursome and I just can't resist the tenderness of the meat! Again, this is mild enough for those who cannot stand hot spicy food. The coconut milk has enhanced the sweetness in this dish.

TEMPTationS Ramadhan Buffet Smile Jul 09, 2012

Categories : Malaysian variety | Multi-Cuisine | Hotel Dining | Buffet

From 19 July to 18 August 2012, the TEMPTationS, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel buffet offers a wide array of all the Buka Puasa specials. Personally, I'm quite amazed as they serve one of the most extensive buffets that I've ever tried. The environment itself is very warm, giving a homey feel for the celebration of the festival.

Gulai Ikan Tenggiri

Stewed in thick curry broth, I simply fall in love with this mackerel fish curry which brings a mixed concoctions of spicy and sour taste, along with the bursting flavours from the assorted vegetables. Best to go with steamed white rice!

Itik Rendang Kering

Besides Malaysians' favourite Rendang Ayam Kampong, the duck dried rendang emerges as one of my favourites. The fragrant smell is contributed by the long hours of simmering coconut milk and spices, which in turn keeps the duck meat so moist and not as tough as I thought. Quite sweet and not overly spicy.

Kek Lapis Nusantara

Another highlight of the meal, the local layered cake, which is traditionally known for its unique taste and ways of preparation. Between each firm layer lies the moist spongy texture, it's simply delicious and not cloying at all! Hardly sweetened like those from Indonesia. There are baskets of Buah Kurma (dates) for you on the buffet spread too.

Soi Thai @ DesaPark City Smile Jul 09, 2012

Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Seafood | Noodles

Soi Thai is so noticable and crowded during dinner hours. I'm thinking it must be an ideal venue for authentic, fairly valued Thai fare.

Under the very relaxing atmosphere, I notice some quirky touches like miniature Buddha and elephants decor standing by the colorful seats. So cute!

Thai Green Curry Chicken

Such a creamy and succulent combination of chicken slices and brinjals keeps me reaching for more. Soft, smooth and tender meat tastes great when touched by the very mild, sweet green curry. Very light and lacking of exotic flavours of spices.

Thai Curry Choo Chee Fish

Next, the Choo Chee Fish, recommended by the affable waiter, arrives. I learn that Thai curry has more than just between red and green, there is Choo Chee curry as well! What a delicious dish: Spicy red curry with a burst of distinctive flavours from the kaffir lime leaves.

Black Glutinous Rice in Coconut Milk

Here's for dessert. This sticky rice is more of dark purple than black, so compact yet soft. To my personal taste, I'm amazed at the unique taste of the naturally sweet rice in combination with the coconut milk. It tastes even better than the mango sticky rice, so enjoyable yet guilt-free!

Sagano RM16 / dish Smile Jul 09, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Hotel Dining | Buffet | Seafood | Fine Dining

Celebrating the hotel's 16th anniversary, all the restaurants in the hotels are introducing special menu that brings excitements to us. What not to be missed in Sagano is their ala carte menu, featuring all signature dishes that have been really popular among diners.

Warmly lit with a touch of modern setting, I feel homey under this great atmosphere.

Deep-Fried Chicken with Honey Vinegar

I am very taken with the thin, crisp chicken (yay, it's boneless!) soaked in sweet, sourish sauce. The fresh-tasting chicken meat remains moist and I find the sauce rather intriguing.

Grilled Oysters Topped with Japanese Mayonnaise

A huge oyster is usually strongly flavoured, and I find this oyster here still acceptable in size. For this, I especially like the sauce which is light and mildly sweet. However, a zest of lemon juice would definitely have livened it up.

Fish Flake Clear Soup with Fried Tofu

For me, I love the fried tofu, as it goes perfectly with the salty fish flake, and smooth clear soup which add contrast to the overall texture. Light enough and not too salty.

It was during last Christmas when I find it a perfect month to indulge in good food and great company to celebrate this special festival. My choice of the perfect dining place is Senja Italian Restaurant at The Saujana Golf and Country Resort. Somewhere outside the hub of the city with perfect dining experience is more awesome than words can describe!

The Pudding Moist Chocolate Cake is decorated so beautifully with reindeers, christmas trees and santa claus. It tastes great but the decoration attracts me more. The chocolate layer is soft and very moist, as it gives a melt-in-the-mouth feel. This sweet layer is balanced up by the light custard pudding.

Tiramisu dello

The meal is completed with a must-have Italian national dessert--- Tiramisu. The exquisite flavours from the mascarpone cheese and coffee is definitely appetizing! Quite creamy, and the alcohol content in it turns it very flavourful, with hints of bittery background.

Italian Christmas Bigne with Chantilly Cream

Bigne is a French puffed pastry made from deep-fried pate a choux dough. Filled with custard, the finished pastry puffs are coated in sugar and nuts. The puff melts in the mouth with creamy thick paste of custard. Very light and I enjoy the bits of crunchy nuts coated on the outside of the bigne.
