This is a side dish that I highly recommend. I find fried fish cake was really tasty. The fish cake skin was crispy while the cake inside manages to stay moist and springy. I can hear the crunch sound with each chew. They really did not stinge on the fish patty and I could taste the various flavours of the fish patty. Every plate came with cucumber for garnishing and their special chilli sauce for added kick.

The Fried Beancurd is a sidedish which we ordered to complement the fish noodles. It was really crunchy and I can see that they have folded it twice before frying it, the internal layers is still springy. It was fried to just the right texture without being too dried but I do find it a bit too oily. But the beancurd was flavoured with spices to make it really appetizing. Worth trying.

I tried the Pear and Sour Plum drink and find it tasted a bit like the pear was unripe. It is like they simply added sugar to a powdered drink as I could not really taste the pear. And the sour plum manages to overpower this drink as there was no pear taste. It ended up tasting too sour for my taste. There were more than a couple of sour plums which were already soft to bring out the sourish taste. Drinking it really jarred my senses, if you needed a wake up call, this is the drink for you.

We usually try their fish head noodle which is undisputably good, this time I tried their Fresh Garoupa Fish Noodle Soup. At RM17 per bowl, it does not come cheap. The soup with milk added was the usual blend of authentic boiled fish bones and wine flavours which was tasty. I find the Teh C at Woo Pin not to my liking. First, there is hardly any tea taste and it tasted quite bland. Granted the evaporated milk normally gives this drink a milder sweet taste but that doesn't mean that the tea has to be bland too. For me I prefer my tea to be stronger so that the milk will enhance it as I prefer less sweet drink. The Teh C drink here ended up tasting more like a milk drink than tea drink. Will not try this again.

It certainly tasted of their usual wine aroma. The usual garnishings of fried shallots and spring onion complements the thin noodles that comes with every bowl.

Visited many times with friends and family at Taman Desa and Cheras Flat. Worth the price. You may add wine to your liking freely at Cheras Flat.Initially, they served only fish head and fish paste. Recently, they have added more selections in their menu such as prawns like normal prawns to tiger prawns. The price varies accordingly. One must not miss other than the noodle that is their tasty "Foo Chook" Barley with Ginkgo. I love the one in Taman Desa whereby there have added beaten egg.

[Fish paste noodle soup] - Big portion for a small bowl. The Soup tastes fantastic with the wine. They will have slices of tomatoes, spring onions, friend onions and gingers.

They served only one type of noodle that is rice noodle aka beehoon.

APPITIZING & FILING!

Woo Pin probably serves one of the best Fish Head Noodle around town where their focus is purely on fish head / paste only. You can choose whether to have fried / non fried both equally nice and to go with meehon or yee mee. The soup was milky and rich in flavour while the fish were fresh, and not to forget it was rather huge portion regular consumer.

Be prepared to lurk around to get a table, and struggle in getting served. They'll serve you (they make it a point to check if they missed any table) but if you need to call attention again, you're gonna have to work for it.

Their barley with fu chuk and gingko is also excellent. Very thick and just the right amount of sweet. Though served as a drink, I take it as both an appetizer and a -pre-meal dessert.

Soong fish head were used and the fish head pieces are either deep-fried or poached. For those who don’t like the fishy smell or doens't like to deal with fish bones, they can ask for ‘yue watt’ (fish paste). This is made from fresh tenggiri (mackerel) paste and, being boneless, is ideal for children. I chose the fish paste version, while my mum had the deep-fried fish head version. The fish-pastes were yummy. However, my mum said the fish head pieces have lots of bones.

At Woo Pin, the fish stock is boiled with generous amount of dried anchovies. Rice wine were added into the soup to eliminate the fishy smell and helps whet the appetite. Besides, evaporated milk (Carnation milk) is also added into the soup. Salted vegetables, diced tomatoes, spring onions, coriander leaves and fried onions were added into the soup as well. For those who do not like the milk version, they can opt for the clear soup option.

This shop serves steamboat in the evenings (different operator)

Opening hours: 7:30am - 2:30pm (closed alternate Mondays)

Heard about this restaurant famous for its fish head noodle for quite some time. So I have decided to give it a try.Fried fish head noodle is one of my favourite noodle. The vermicelli here is fatter compare to normal vermicelli. Some people prefer the soup without milk base. But I prefer the milk based soup because the fragrance of the soup smell and taste nicer. The deep fried fish head is a bit difficult to eat because of the bones but that's the enjoyment of it.
