Sam Kan Chong has come a long way since the world war 2 in Malaya. The noodles comes with black sausage aka blood sausage, topped with some minced pork and 6 pieces of meat balls. I am satisfied with the noodles here, the ingredient is fresh, soup is nice and the homemade noodle is chewy. Overall, I think the food here is good and the price is reasonable.

I always lament the fact that I cannot get a cheap, quick and easy porky noodle in a shopping mall. However, that has all changed when I found out that there is such a restaurant. So over the weekend, wifey and I was hanging around in One Utama, we decided to hunt for Sam Kan Chong for lunch. I ordered the dry mee hoon noodle. The mee hoon was cooked just right for me, not too soft. Tossed in their soya sauce and dark sauce, it was quite delicious. There were some slices of meat sausages and some minced pork garnished on top together with some chopped spring onions. A small separate bowl of soup with juicy and delectable pork balls was served. There was also a small plate of stir-fried pickled vegetables, peanuts and chopped long beans. All this for only RM7.90. Definitely the place to go for a quick bite.

I had try their signature homemade noodles ,that serves along with their home made fish balls and topped with minced meat. The minced pork on top of the noodles is quite nice but and i decided to ordered extra side dish of this which cost only RM3 per bowl. The minced meat is well seasoned before cook and it gives extra fragrance to the noodles or 'yong tau fu'.However it is quite dry and i prefer to add some sauce into it before eating.

I know that offal has an awful reputation but don't worry about that as no pork intestines was used to make the sausage.
The noodles has a different texture since it is homemade from the restaurant. Overall it taste alright but not the best noodles that i ever had.

I'm not sure, maybe it's because I was there at 9pm; an hour before closing time. Or maybe they just ran out of fresh ingredients. Either way, I had a pretty bad experience at Sam Kan Chong 1Utama. The wantan soup was OK and their pork meatballs in soup pretty good. But that noodle dish alone made me never wanted to visit again. Sorry!

Roasted intestines are essentially minced pork fillings in intestine coating layer. Tau pok is soft and nicely soaked up the curry broth, while vege were blanched till just right.

If you like a lighter consistency of curry broth, this is the one for you. I find this satisfactory for me as I like less thick curry broth

Noodles has a very nice al-dente texture, which coated well with soya sauce. But I find that the soya sauce could be more fragrant. Minced pork was decent, while the star of this dish is the roasted intestines- they are aromatic and have nice savoury flavour.

As we walked, we arrived at this Chinese restaurant called Sam Kan Chong. It sounds Hongkie to me, but later I learn that this restaurant actually holds the previous name of Restoran 3JC. This noodles house is famous for its superior meatballs, great to be taken with noodles, rice or just purely soup.

The soup was crystal clear with silky Hor Fun, which we preferred over normal noodle. The pork meatball was tender and it’s best served in pork soup which is cooked for at least 8 hours. Imagine all the essence is in just one bowl! The meatball was of good quality, chewy and solid as well. There were also 2 slices of caramelized pork sausage too. It is said that there is absolutely no preservatives added in their homemade noodle and meatballs. Thus, for those who savor the freshness of ingredients, this is one dish that you would not want to pass.

On the other hand, you could also try their side orders like this Homemade Wantan in clear soup. Definitely suitable for those looking for lighter calorie meal and soupy. It came with some Kai Lan vegetables and in house wantan. The wantan filling consists of minced pork, which is juicy and decently marinated. Not overly done with salt or pepper. It’s just nice savoring the bite-sized wraps! ^^
