1. Ramen Kanbe @ Empire Damansara

Have you checked out Ramen Kanbe yet? A rather cozy japanese restaurant in Empire Damansara serving ramen and other japanese cuisine, we dropped by Ramen Kanbe the other day for a nice lunch date. Located in the building itself, it wasn't too hard to find. Check out what we had that afternoon. Food recommended: Charsiu Ramen, Otsumami Charsiu, Spicy Ramen, Tenshin-Han Rice, and Gyozas If you're not filled up yet, do try out their side orders, namely the crispy chicken Kaarage, as well as their Gyozas. I liked the Kaarage, served freshly fried, marinated in the special house blend sauce and spices. It was a delight munching into the crispy pieces. The pan seared Gyozas were pretty decent, with small burst of meaty juices oozing out as we munch through the gyoza. Overall the food at Ramen Kanbe is pretty commendable, but I did wish they had stronger flavours. Do try out Ramen Kanbe the next time you are in the vicinity of Empire Damansara Petaling Jaya.

2. Hokkaido Santouka Ramen @ Pavilion KL

It was a ramen feast the other day when I was at Hokkaido Santouka Ramen @ Tokyo Street Pavilion KL. Personally, it was my first time dining in the Tokyo Street area at Pavilion KL, hence I was rather excited to try out the ramen there. The location of this Japanese restaurant is pretty prominent, inside Tokyo Street on the 6th floor, where everything's Japanese there. Food recommended: Creamy Shio Ramen, Shoyu Ramen, Miso Ramen in soy bean paste flavour, Kara-Miso Ramen, ‘rarest of the rare’ pork cheeks and Green tea matcha ice-cream with red bean I must say, Santouka do serve one of the nicer ramens I've had in recent times. Now if only the pricing could have been more afffordable, but I do understand all the preparation and hard work put into every soup base and dishes served here. Do check out Hokkaido Santouka Ramen the next time you're in Pavilion KL and looking to have some ramens.

3. Bari-Uma Ramen @ Jaya Shopping Centre

There are a whole lot of ramen spots that I've been to lately, but the good thing is, I still love them all. The soup is what makes up a good ramen dish, so it's nice to note that the new Bari-Uma Ramen @ Jaya Shopping Centre served up some really concentrated ramen soup with very nice ingredients. We were there the other day to check out what they had to offer. Food recommended: Noritama Uma, Ishiyaki Chaofan (Salmon), Aburi Chashu, Teri-yaki Gyoza, Yakitori Combo and Matcha (Green tea) and Kurogoma (Black Sesame) Ice Cream It was nice to note they serve some nice salads in the form of their Bari Uma Salad, as well as their Aburi-Salmon Salad. The one we had, have these chashu pork mixed in, tasting great! We ended our meal with some ice cream dessert in the form of their Matcha (Green tea) and Kurogoma (Black Sesame) Ice Cream. Do check out Bari-Uma Ramen at Jaya Shopping Centre the next time you're in the vicinity.

4. Bankara Ramen @ Avenue K

The Bankara Ramen outlet itself exudes authentic Japanese restaurant aura, with the furniture and decor made primarily to reflect wood and calmness. When we were there that night, they had a healthy stream of diners. On each table, apart from the usual condiments of shoyu, there were vinegar and chili oil, fresh garlic and garlic press as well, lots of attention to details there. Food recommended: Tonkotsu Ramen, Bankara Original Ramen, Buta Miso Ramen, Bankara's Tsukemen, Bankara's Negi Buta Meshi, Annin Tofu (Almond Pudding Tofu) We ended our very filling meal with some healthy Annin Tofu (Almond Pudding Tofu) dessert. The dessert was unlike the usual jelly-like pudding we have elsewhere, as the one here was smooth and almost buttery in nature. It was a good meal out at Bankara Ramen, so do check them out the next time you are at Avenue K, or KLCC. Original source from Isaac Tan
