After placing the order, we were served with one mini plate of appetizer. It tastes like preserved papaya however it was not. It seems that it was watermelon and they trim the flesh and left only the white flesh near the skin. It was very crunchy, sweet and sour. Yet they slice it thinly.

After waited for 20mins, finally my lunch is served. I have Salmon Shioyaki, the set comes with Steam rice, Miso soup, mini appetizer and Watermelon. The overall portion is acceptable. Taste wise is just average nothing impressive.

For your information, Green Tea is not inclusive in the set lunch you need to add on additional RM3.00 for free flow of Green Tea.

Zakuro2 is one of the japanese delicious foodie place to go. This time, we get their set meals to try around. The set meals comes : Tempura Moriawase + Cha Soba where it served with the small starter which is served chawanmushi, tempura moriawase, cold noodles, miso soup and mixed fruits. I love the tempura moriawase which is well served and it is crunchy at the outside with the bursting sensation of the hot fresh tempura taste. A full meals of it is just as perfect as it is to had .

Gindara Mentaiko, at RM48

another interesting dish, with mentaiko being used as their topping! i first heard about mentaiko when i read Cheesie's blog and her obsessive fixation with cod roe. and since then i kinda developed a liking towards mentaiko too LOL. this dish, definitely did justice towards my love for mentaiko. not only is the cod fish meat were fried evenly and just right, the mentaiko topping were like tiny bits of explosives in my mouth. like fireworks. add batayaki sauce, this was like a dish made from heaven.

Tori Teppanyaki (RM22) & Seafood Teppanyaki (RM36)meh, i used to eat at the typical Teppanyaki shop at Midvalley's foodcourt and theirs taste a hundred times better than this. the chicken chunks and seafood (consisting of prawns, salmon and scallops) were great in portion - which was such a waste since it was cooked really bad and honestly very unappetizing. there was so much oil in it that i had to drink a whole cup of water to quench my thirst after this.

Sashimi Salad, pricier at RM30 per plate.I am assuming Zakuro is trying to push and promote their salad dishes.. here is another one again, served with fresh salmon pieces and chunks of fruits with a light mayo dressing. maybe they could've add one the mayo instead? feels pretty plain, but thumbs up for the deco. most of the salad dishes are also served with a small bowl of crunchy bits of fried bisquit? it's something similar to the fried bisquits you eat in chinese yee sang.Salmon Salad, RM28

Salmon Salad, RM28 per plate.

erm, well. i wasn't expecting fried salmon skin here when i read the dish's name from the menu. nevertheless, i am a fan of fried salmon skin, although i've only tried it twice in Sushi King (meh) and Nihonkai. i was already awaiting the salty and flavorful crisp taste in my mouth when i took the first bite but i was left with an extremely bland aftertaste.. everyone thought the fried salmon skin was tasteless too.

Salmon Lover, at RM32 per plate.another pricey dish lol. being a fan of salmon, i was left disappointed with this dish, after realizing the same result i got earlier from the seafood platter - the meat were all sliced too chunky, which isn't a bad thing actually, depending on your perception. again, i like my salmon to be cut just nicely, mind you, but some might prefer a chunky heavy meat that screams worthy satisfaction, but it all depends on what you prefer in the end. the different pieces of

Unagi Kabayaki, priced at RM82 for 8 pieces (holy)

should i call this the star of the day lol? everyone was practically anticipating this when it was served last haha. the eel was definitely good, better than good actually. the only downside was that the meat felt really hollow when you start chewing it.. somehow feels like you were eating a really meatless (or skinny wtf) eel. other than that, the soy-sauce base was amazing. great in flavor and texture.

Sesame and Matcha Ice-Cream

both ice-cream had very contradicting flavors - the sesame was bland while the matcha flavor was so empowering it felt bitter in my mouth. the bf likes hardcore original greet tea taste so it was good for him. i prefer the sesame one although i've tasted better. nothing too fancy to shout about.

Hiyashi Ramen, at RM18

now this is a dish i am quite willing to fork out my money for.. considering that it's quite cheap compared to the other dishes so far. pretty generic ramen, but the cool thing is that it's served cold, and when topped with the special sesame sauce, the whole dish just oozes with perfection. reminds me of the dishes from Pasta Zanmai though.

Cod Fish covered with generous amount of fish roe with batayaki sauce. Presentation wise, it looks simple and delicious. The fish roe on top looks delicious as well. I only had 1 bite but the fish was really soft and smooth. It didn't smell really fishy as well so I guess that is a plus point. Overall, the taste were pretty okay, not really special. Not something I would personally order.

How should I put this nicely, hmmm. The idea of a Chicken Teppanyaki isn't bad, however, the way it was prepared was really bad. The chicken was overly buttered, not to mention it doesn't even have that grilled flavour of the 'teppan'. The whole point of a Teppanyaki is to have that well seasoned and grilled meat which absorbs the smokyness of the gigantic pan. However, this just fails in every way.

6 different types of Salmon which includes regular Salmon sushi, Salmon with Avocado topping Sushi, Smoked Salmon, Grilled Salmon, Cheese Salmon and Salmon Sashimi. I think it is quite an effective way to try and promote different types of Salmon on a plate instead of ordering 2 of each kind like Sushi King. Having said that, the taste of all 6 types of sushi were pretty similar. I personally don't see the point in trying to promote 6 variants of Salmon that taste so similar to one another.

Personally, I think it looked more like a Fruit Salad with Sashimi Topping. The presentation of the fruits somewhat overpowers the name of the dish. Rectangular cubes of watermelon and melon was placed surrounding the fresh lettuce from above. Salmon and Tuna sashimi were then placed at the center of the dish. Taste-wise, not what I would order, especially for RM30. The few slices of sashimi, especially in that size were pretty pointless. I would rather have more thinly sliced sashimis and cubes

Fresh salad topped with fried Salmon skin, salmon sashimi, ebi and mayonnaise. I love fried Salmon skins, especially when its crispy and slightly salted. This however, wasn't all that great. The fried Salmon skins were pretty crispy, but they lacked in flavours. I couldn't determine whether is it Salmon or just a regular type of fish. Not to mention it wasn't really well seasoned. The mayonnaise on the Salmon skin was pretty pointless, but I get the idea of trying to put mayonnaise on the salad.

The Scallop Chawan Mushi could possibly be one of my favourite dish so far. The scallop was quite the size and it has a very nice chewy texture. Not forgetting the most important part for Chawan Mushi, the smoothness and consistency of the eggs. Holding my breath, praying hard, slowly taking the spoon provided and started to take a bite...wait for it...and...it was great! Smooth, light and flavourful. Enough said.

Fresh, crispy lettuce wrapped with seaweed. It tasted as if there was rice inside, but truthfully, there weren't any. It was an extremely simple dish, not sure whether or not it is still considered as Japanese but nevertheless, it was okay to me. Some said they really liked it a lot and would also put as one of their favourites, but I just don't feel the same. It was nice, but in a salad-ish way. On the other hand, it was just bland.

Interesting presentation, a widely available dish, simple and rather straight forward. Crispy prawn tempura wrapped with rice and seaweed, topped with avocado, ebi and a dash of mayonnaise. However simple it may sound, this Dragon roll, like the previous dish, wasn't good enough. Reason were simple, rice were musky, prawns were dulled and not crispy, avocado didn't quite do the job it was supposed to, everything was just bland.
