There had been a new restaurant that was on a to-be-tried list. So when we got the chance, mom brought myself and a few friends there to try something that sounded quite interesting especially to a carnivore like myself. Anyway, we ordered other things from the menu too like their tofu. I am not sure what this is supposed to be because I wasn't paying attention when it was ordered but it does remind me a ltitle of mapo tofu. Except it has salted fish. Though it was also slightly more on the sweet side and also somewhat more watery than I would have preferred.
Since it's a favourite of mom's to order, we also got some Chicken and... Although it wasn't bad, it was not the best either as we already have tried better ones elsewhere. Plus I am not really a big fan of chicken anyways so I was not exactly into this dish.
Then comes the main star of the entire meal which was the braised pork knuckle with chinese wine and also some eggs as a side. Everyone at the table loved this because the meat was very tender and almost melted in your mouth instantly when you take a bite. I particularly liked the egg because it's absorbed the flavour of the sauce without being so overcooked that it is hard. However the entire meal, I was only about fifty percent pleased with it. Based on personal preference I would most definitely not pick this place as a first choice to have a meal at. But everyone else that ate really liked it so do give Champ's kitchen a try especially if you enjoy braised pork meats.
