One of the dishes which the waitress recommended was the sizzling tofu. It was among the first to arrive after the lala soup, which I am not surprised as it is not too complicated to make.Contrary to what it's name suggests, this dish did not come sizzling. This dish costs RM16 for a large serving for 6 people.

Apart from the seafood and the meat, of course we have to order a vegetable based dish so that the meal is a complete nutritional one. The belacan was very spicy, and many of us ended up sweating after finishing this dish. Spicy as it is, it blends very well with the vegetables and serves very good with white rice.

I liked that the fried calamari were very crispy, in fact it was very hot when it was first served we had to wait for a while more to it to cool down. The calamari were chewy and delicious, especially when dipped into their Thai chilli sauce which was both sour, spicy and sweet as well. All in all a good dish to have.

Ordered the lala in soup as a appetizer dish as it is good for sharing. The soup in this dish is quite fragrant, although I find it a little too salty for my liking. However, after serving it with white rice, it becomes much better. The soup is strong with chinese herbs but slightly spicy as they cooked it with some green chilli, but I would expect no less from a Thai restaurant. The lala were generally a mixture of mainly fresh lala and some not so fresh ones. Another signature dish from this stall is the Cantonese Style Noodle ( Ying Yong or Noddle in Egg Gravy). You can choose to have mixture of fried kueh teow and bihun, just fried kueh teow, just fried bihun and fried yee mee. Restaurant New Yew Sang is located in Kelana Jaya, some where near to Universiti Tun Abdul Rzak (UNITAR). This restaurant is just like a normal chinese kopitiam where there are plenty of food stall selling variety of food in the morning until afternoon. There is one stall here which famous for it's Fried Rice. The Fried Rice is big in portion. The prawn used is very fresh. You can feel the fried rice is enough "wok hei" and they still can maintain the food quality although cooed n large portion.

Wifey ordered the pan mee soup, with the noodle being the hand pinched type. The noodle was pretty good, as it was quite thin. The soup was flavourful. It has a bit of MSG taste, but that is expected. There were some pork slices, pork balls, sweet potato leaves and fried anchovies. Some onion oil was poured on top before serving. Priced at RM5.50 for a big bowl, it was well worth the amount paid.

I was surprised to see that the pan mee stall wasn't manned by the usual auntie. Nevertheless, I ordered a bowl of dry pan mee. The pan mee came quite quickly, which was good, enough though there were many patrons around. The noodle is the thin type, which was fine with me. It was well tossed with brown sauce, though the noodle was slightly overcooked. There were some ingredients of fried anchovies, potato leaves, minced pork and a dash of onion oil on top. Barley drink is good for its cooling properties, especially on a sweltering afternoon. Wifey would normally order this when we go out lunch in kopitiams. In Restoran New Yew Sang, there is no exception. I thought that the barley drink was rather watered down, though it was quite well chilled by the ice given. It has a mediocre barley flavour, due to the fact it was slightly diluted. Priced at RM1.50, it was a decent amount to pay.

As I was having my lunch in Restoran New Yew Sang, I decided to order Sar Lei Plum drink, also known as buah kedondong. The tart taste of the fruit was very refreshing. There were a couple of dried plums being put in it to give it more flavour. Sweet and sourish, the drink was very delicious. The amount of ice was just nice, not diluting the drink at all. Priced at RM2.60 per glass, it was well worth the amount paid.

Wifey wanted to order the sweet and sour pork, and from experience, I remember that they serve quite nice ones here. We ordered, and the dish came pretty quick. The pork was still crunchy from the deep-frying even though it was already slathered in the sweet and sour sauce. The juicy pork was fried together with some chunks of bell pepper, pineapples, tomatoes and cucumber. A good combination of sweetness and sourness. Definitely recommended!

I had a hankering for tom yam soup, so we ordered the mixed seafood tom yam soup. The tom yam soup here is really spicy, at least for me. One must take caution while drinking, else will easily choke. The tom yam soup arrived piping hot, and there were lots of ingredients in it. The usual would be the lemongrass stick, lots of onions as well as wedges of tomatoes. There were also lots of prawns, sotong and chicken slices in it. A small portion was more than enough for both wifey and me. Definitel

The waiter recommended us to try the lala, as he mentioned that they were quite fresh. We agreed, and ordered the kam heong lala. The lala was well fried full of wok hei. There were lots of chilli leaves in it, and the kam heong concoction was very fragrant. It was a bit disconcerting when we discovered that lots of lala meat were missing from the shells, but it seems that they came off while frying, so we found most of them hiding within the sauce. Overall, I quite enjoyed this dish.

Wifey is a fan of petai, hence when we saw that New Yew Sang offers sambal petai prawn, we immediately thought to order that. The dishes came quite fast, barely 10 minutes after we ordered. The sambal petai prawn is quite spicy for the normal palate, but wifey enjoyed it very much. The petai was fresh and crunchy, not to mention quite smelly, but I guess that the mark of a good petai. The prawns were also quite fresh, peeled with just the tail intact. Definitely recommended.
