Large portion & variety Smile Sep 04, 2015

On one free weekday, I make my way, I have been long for their salad everytime when I saw chai bar. Since It was offpeak time, I use an apps knowns as offpeak to get cheaper price.

Instead of getting a small salad for Rm 13.90 , I got it at Rm 11.80. Save on Rm 2.10

Here, you can choose to make you own salad or choose from the existing creation. There is total 10 combination recommended by the restaurant.

Small Rm 13.90
Regular Rm 17.90
Large Rm 22.90

I chose grilled chicken for the protein, so here it is, serving hot grilled chicken. THe one that I have gotten is chicken breast, not sure everyone got the same or not, but it is fat free for my grilled chicken
it is assortment of all the healthy snacks, and abundant

make-your-my own salad Rm 13.90

you can choose to mix and match the salad by yourself. Below is the ingredients that I chose for my own salad

Base: Romaine Lettuce

Supplements: Raisins, TOmato, Hard boiled egg, beetroot, baby potatoes

Proteins: Grilled Chicken, (initially, I wanted to add on Salmon, but luckily I didn't, it is too much I almost couldn't finish.)

Toppings: Roasted Seaweed

Dressing: Roasted Sesame
the roasted seaweed make me drool

I think variety is the reason why people make their way here. You can choose among so many ingredients. that make it easier to mix and match. Not forget that the portion is very huge.

Needless to comment on the dressing, cause they used the japanase roasted sesame sauce you can't go wrong with it's savoury aroma.
quite a big chunks for each of the part and parcel

quite a big chunks for each of the part and parcel

I whine a big for their big chunks size of each ingredients, would prefer to take the staff there to cut it smaller. Imagine that when you want to consume it, then you need to cut it smaller before entering your mouth~~
and to pair up with roasted sesame sauce!

and to pair up with roasted sesame sauce!

Overall, it's a recommended place for a wholesome salad. No worry, it's not only for snack, but main meal also. Considering the one that I order is small size, so you can imagine that big size would be fit for 2 people.

Nam Heong White Coffee Smile Sep 04, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles | Dim sum | Coffee

updated on 15th dec 2014:

other food that I try

Hi~~ Today I like to let you to have a 2D tour of one of the must visit place in Ipoh.

It's an eatery, Yea, it's the long established don't know since how many years. Also it's the pioneer of Old Town White Coffee that basically available in every corner in Malaysia now.Namely

NAM HEONG old town White Coffee.

I always going there during the merry Sunday, which then I have to wait to seat as everytime there is a lot of people there. Not sure how it looks like during weekday.

Nam Heong White Coffee, different from the typical Old Town White Coffee. Here, it's a 7 stalls hawker centre. Each of the stalls selling different food that each has it's highlight! (No offence: I always eat economic rice , so I don't feel like want to order it anymore.)

Many come here of it's original Old TownWhite Coffee. Can you guess which one is the

coffee + milk tea

milk tea?

the price is less than Rm2....Rm1.70 is not mistaken

Since I am not a coffee person, I only ordered the milktea, I don't know how to describe it, slightly better than milk tea that you drink anywhere else. Differents in....the taste is just ngam ngam, (perfectly adjust) I guess, like it's has subtle taste of tea , and not too sweet overall.

Bf order this campur. It's nice though, smooth. Can quite geniune.....lost of word to describe it...why not you just try them yourself??

And now it comes to the highlight of this restaurant. (As I am not a coffee person, milktea is the highlight instead of the coffee). Actually there are quite many highlights! I feel like want to try every of the food there except the economic rice that selling at the front door there. Somehow, seeing how the food is served on table of others, the appearance, the aroma really make me think that every food here is worth to try! Like each of them is so damn delicious!

First highlight:

the super cruchy, condensed egg tart.

this make me drooling!

the filling is so full like you already full after eating one. But later on, you will crave for more.

And it is still edible after one day promising that you keep them in fridge. Just that the crunchiness all gone as time goes by.

Second highlight:

Curry mee Rm4.50

Special ler~~ haven seen curry mee with Chinese roast pork. The mint garnish the overall appearance as well as the taste. I personally perfer dry curry mee than curry mee. Dry curry mee mix with Kam lao also very taste good!

Dry curry Mee Rm4.50

Honestly, I prefer dry curry mee more than the normal one. I wish i could bring my family here~~

The curry mee, cry curry mee all come from this stall. I like to order from this stall, because their portion is suffice enough to make me full. Hehe

Third highlight

This Chao Keuy Tiaw is superb! Just that it's a small size serving. Should try this, the sambal is nice also.

Chaw Keuy Tiaw Rm4

I have yet to try other dishes in their dim sum stalls, the chicken hor fun...and the apam balik outside at the front door.

Oh yea, and there is this kedai kopi opposite the Nam Heong. And according to my bf, it is famous for their curry mee.

Address:

Mixed rice is a MUST TRY Smile Aug 31, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Indian | Restaurant | Noodles | Mixed rice

My friends and me went to join DC Justice League Run in Penang on 30th August. We actually went Kasim mustafa to eat twice. Early breakfast before we run. And going for lunch after we bath, & rest post -8km running. One point to remember is that Kasim Mustafa open 24 hours, that is the first point! Haha.

2. Second point to remember about Kasim Mustafa is that it is located in Chulia Street, in the midst of street art drawing, and hustle bustle of the crowd.

3. Third point also the most important point is that their mixed rice is a MUST. A MUST for THEIR MIXED RICE! With the fried chicken and various homemade curry  (fish curry, chicken curry, lamb curry).

Each of the curry definitely has each own distinctive pleasant taste, that is extra-ordinary delicious, and fragant.

4. Forth point to remember is that I seldom review about mixed rice. Not that I don't want to review, but it is just ordinary. But this is the special one that it attract long queue even in the midnight 1am.

Mixed rice  Rm 7 -10
You opt for plain white rice or nasi lemak. I prefer nasi lemak. I mean their rice has lemak. Not the nasi lemak that has peanut, egg, anchovy that nasi lemak.

And NEVER MISS THEIR CURRY or you will deem never been there. Their curry in fragrant to be honest. and top up with a protein chicken, you will found yourself satisfied, and cannot stop compliment on their meal after that.

Since I tried mixed rice in the morning already, I would like to try theirRoti Naan ayam tandori, something you can only found in Muslim indian mamak stall. (THis is consider a restaurant btw)

Roti Naan Ayam Tandori Rm 8.50

So far I have tried this in 3 different places. The ayam tandori is delicious as always, but I dun like the sauce come in minimum amount =(

hmm, would recommend you the mixed rice in this restaurant rather than Roti Naan Ayam Tandori. And the best place about this, even the environment is so hot, and narrow gap between seat. But you will get your stomach full within RM 10 typically. Not only full, but pleasantly tasty. This is the reason why I would recommended you all to go Restoran Nasi Dalcha Kassim Mustafa.

Supplementary Information:
1. GST available.

2. Have to find parking when you about to reach, it's located in art street centre, so it normally lack of parking.

I feel like this is a cafe of Art. THe owner of this cafe, XXX talked about attitude, the decoration is everywhere, the idea of only bring pets once in 2 weeks is brilliant.

You will not see menu at the basement here. Because you can only placed your order at the servicing counter at the ground floor. Hence you would not see waiter walking around in the basement, unless to clear the dishes .

Basement of I AM 80's Cafe.

If you do not notice, they also have this hook to hang your handbag or maybe dog tag underneath the table.

Quite surprise to see that a normal door like this is the entrance to the wondefully decorated basement. Like Alice in the Wonderland.

OH, is Maple in the Wonderland, hehehe

Props for the selfie Lover next to a cushion bench.

The bench that I meant to. See all the cutie pet pillow~~ Stylish huh~~

Dessert corner , just next to the servicing counter.

This one the owner saw it at the road side, and bring it back, revamping it, paint with USA flag design , until it becomes what you have see now.

Me and my Husky~~ LOLOLOLOL

With Bowie's Golden Retriever!! Her name is Dou Dou.

And cute baby poodle, the daughter of Adeline Lee. So cute, right?

We went there on Sunday. As for these time , they will welcome pets to twice in a month, on Sunday. But, please do confirm with them to make sure it's really a pet day before you bring your pet. Because sometime they have event and would closed for those who have reserved.

They would clean it with specialise hygience chemical everytime after the Pet day, I not sure how was the cleaning done. But so far I don't even see any fur on the sofa. The boss also mention that he saw people bring sugar glider, si jiao she as well. But whatever is it, inform them you will bring your pets, ok?

Watch this video to see how many dogs on the day during the time we visited.

okay, one more last dog pic.

Hot CHocolate Rm 13

Other such as Capuccino Latte or Hazelnut Latte are available too.

Then we have a range of fruit smoothies, which is a signature in I AM 80's cafe.

From left:

Apple Orange Lychee Rm 16

Lychee Soursoup with Mintleaf Rm 15

Mix Berries & Dragon Fruit Rm 16

Banana Mango with Basil Seed Rm 14.

Like any other fruit juice (but this is cold icy smoothies), it has a mixture of 3 different fruits.

Sarsi Rm 6

One of the signature in 80's!! But it taste so so only. Just like what sarsi taste honestly. Just that the way how you drink it is a bit special. It is more healthy as It taste less sweet and less carbonated then the ordinary one.

80's Coffee Rm 10

80's Milk Tea Rm 10

There is another lighter color one in the same packaging one. That one is Milk Tea, 80's signature milktea. Both coffee and milk tea resemble the 80's coffee and milk tea. (Though I am 90's, but I guess coffee and milk tea in 80's are gou gou one? super thick one. )

I am a teh tarik/ milk tea lover. 9 out of 10 times when I go chat time, i would order milk tea series one. So far the best teh ice I tried was the one in an old restaurant selling economic rice in Seri Iskandar, Perak. Their milk tea is gou(flavourful/savoury), not too bitter, but you can taste the milk tea there. If the one in Seri Iskandar is the second best milk tea, this is the best milk tea I have tried so far. THicker than the seri iskandar one. After you finished the whole bottle, you will see some dissolved powder still in at the base.

So remember to shake it before you pour in your cup!

I would purposely come here just for the milk tea.

Mushroom Soup Rm 9

Omg, see this pic in the middle of night really torturing. I feel hungry now. Mix forest mushroom with Thick Cream and Truffle Oil. The type that I like! And you can still eat some bread cube on top on it. It is so delicious it has the standard of fine dining, yet remain generous in amount. Slurrp~~ I wish to have another bowl of Mushroom soup! 80's Beef Stew Rm 25

Beef Stew cooked for 12 hours with Garden Root veggie & Beef Juice. You should have tried this! I didn't eat beef to be honest. but for the purpose of reviewing, yes. Only at one bite that I taste, maybe that it already stew for 12 hours, the texture of the beef is unusually tender. And the broth within it, so rich in flavour, you wish for more!

I like the idea of having toasted garlic french here. Cause the dip on the baguette into the broth , together with other side dishes is really yummy!

80's Signature Rm 75

This is the reason that you would be full. Feed 4-5 people. In fact our group of foodie blogger has 8 people. (But we eat many other food as well.). It is just assorted of everything. The food that make up this delectable pelette:

Roasted Half Chicken

Onion Ring

Chicken Sausage

FIsh & Chip

Sweet Corn

Hash Brown

Garden Salad

Pesto Bread

come with your selection of sauce, either BBQ or Tartar.Guess how long is the chicken sausage? It's a 12' long chicken sausage! and many other food as well. It's a dishes that you wouldn't want to miss. Only in I AM 80's cafe.Black Mussel in Pot Rm 40

The black mussel sauteed with Onion , and finished with creamy sauce (likey! ) and spagetti. The broth so this is so rich, with a sweetness sublety. The mussel is juicy in a way that is refreshing. I am a bit amazed to see how a sweet mussel can combine with creamy spagetti, it literally make me feel so good that I got to eat this. =D

Sarawak Laksa Rm 12

Not only it has big juicy prawn, and all the laksa Sarawak necessay. I like that it come with a freshly cut lime!

Bailey Chocolate Mousse Rm 16

Fragrance alcohol that found in this Mousse. It doesnt taste too sweet or bitter. I like that it has 3 different texture.

Dancing in the Pan Rm 20

Warm Bread PUdding with Chocolate and Vanilla Sauce.

The bread is warm, and Cold Ice-cream and pudding. And drizzle with Chocolate and vanilla sauce.

Do watch the video above to see how is it name "Dancing in the Pan." When the sauce was drizzle on the hot pan, it sizzle and everything looked melt that this moment. The boss told us to eat in from top to bottom in one mouthful, so that you could taste hot and cold and that dancing movement in your mouth.

Dancing in the Pan Rm 20

That melting moment~~

Note: 10% service charge available

Lovely signature custom-made bottle from I Am 80's. It too pretty not to take a photo of it.The brunch of foodie blogger, who enjoy the food reviewing, in an enthusiatic vibe with cutie dogs around, great lighting, and great food. (I was the photographer)Okay, a complete group photo =D

(Photo credit to Adeline Lee )With the owner of "I AM 80's " Cafe, admired him for this bubbly, enthusiatics personality,a great chef with great food yet remain humble, and friendly talking to customer. Please feedback him or in I AM 80's Cafe Facebook Page if you have any suggestion or ideas.

Verdict:

Honestly, food lover should have know this place and came here. Not only because of the great ambience (that is great enough to become a unique selling point), but the foods here! The owner of this restaurant, TK Dong, was a head chef & executive chef for in a famous franchise cafe for 8 years that he would approved the menu of the food, etc. in a few countries. I AM 80's is a very signature cafe, that showing his attitude, and that he is also one of the 80's naming " I AM 80's " cafe. With the several experience in dining industry, I am looking forward to the other food here, which I believe would be as yummy as the food that I have tried here.

Looking forward to come here again in any Pet's Sunday!

It was a Monday night , and thanks to Open Rice for the food review invitation. I absolutely enjoy it so much. All the makan (eating) talking and sharing between open ricer was a joyful open! Also thanks to Managing Director of Shunka group, Edisson Eing for his friendly sharing on the food!

Grilled Pork Belly Rm 7.30

One of the very dishes that I like! Love it more when sprinkle with fresh lemon extract.

The lemon itself is so crispy, it's definitely fried, but you neither feel or see oil on the plate, do you?

Kimchi Steamboat Rm 17.90

Soup Refill once only. Rm 3 for every subsequent refill.

They do serve Kimchi Steamboat with variety of anything!!

You can choose the spiciness of the kimchi soup also. Either original, mild, hot or spicy.I tried the mild on, it's consider spicy for me. But the original one is not spicy at all. So I prefer the fusion of original and mild.

Kimchi and seafood lover should seriously considering on ordering this!

Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen Rm 19.90

The shoyu soup is quite salty when taste alone. However, as you eat together with the springy Ramen, it taste better.

Spicy Pork Bulgogi Rm 17.90

Just the presentation itself already appeal to me. I didnt try so much of this, as I was so full when this was serve. Serving with generous amount of mix vege and well marinated pork slice not only making the dishes colourful, but drooling the foodies around.

To poke the onsen tamago (hal boiled egg) is a hard time for me. and we mix everything together for the mouthful of spicy porl bulgogi!

Garlic Fried Rice Rm 10.50

Garlic Fried Rice fried using Japanese rice (all the fried rice were using Japanses rice) together with aromatic garlic, minced pork, scramble egg that make up a comfortable food rich in carbohdrate.

Crispy Sushi Rm 13.90

Crispy outer layer, carbo and heary inner layer, to be finish in a mouthful. It's tiny little finger food that is suitable for high tea or snack.

Japanese Cheese Omelet Rm 10.50

I am a cheese lover, and honestly I cant taste much of cheese here, but more to mayonaise and egg. But as you see, it is prepare on demand, you could request for more cheese if you like. As some might not love too much of cheese in Omelet.

Japanese Dumpling Rm 10.50DId you notice something in this picture?

It ALL ABOUT GREEN MATCHA!!

Shunka is so generouls , they served so much of Magic Matcha. Edisson Eing, and his partner, YC LIm insist us that we should drink it quickly as soon as it served, before the matcha ice-cream melt. But we , the open ricer, keep taking photo, finding the best angle to show the prefectness of the matcha. Hence he ordered another round of Matcha for us, to make sure we indulge the famous matcha from Shunka.

Iced Matcha with Red Bean Rm 16.90

Dessert, DeSSert DESEERT!! My favourite time!! Meet my most favourite dish of the day. It was not main course but Ice Matcha with Red Bean!!

The blogger with her favourite matcha and red beans

Can you see the Matcha and red bean is served in a few different layer? Vanilla at the bottom, then sweet red bean, prepared in Japanese way, it is baked before hand, layered in the middle.(definitely taste the different between red beans here and small red beans in ice kacang), and matcha ice-cream on top of it!

Click here to see how the food porn-ness.

Okay, it taste better to but all the 3 layers in one spoon. (watch the video in the link above). SO It taste first like sweet (vanilla, and red beans) and bitter (matcha), as you continue to chew, everything is mix and match of sweet and bitter. My mouth was like enjoying it so much!

Magic Matcha Rm 16.90

Think of SHunka when you think of Matcha. They serve really wonderful matcha here! This Magic Matcha is their signature, comprising of matcha ice-cream, matcha cube, and matcha drink mix with milk. This is why Matcha lover would love this!

Hot Matcha Rm 7.30

Order a cup of hot macha if you prefer to taste the authentic matcha taste. As the cold one would be sweeter.

The moment these 2 ladies so serious about taking good photos! I cant help to show it here.

Once again, thanks to open rice for the invitation, enjoy talking and listening among us!
