Seafood Lunch @ Tambun Smile Aug 18, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

Was in the Tambun area checking out the new housing projects. Decided to cure my hunger at my new favourite seafood restaurant. Amazingly, I've eaten at this place a few times but it's all during the afternoon. There were only 3 of us so didn't order a lot

Dish 1: Stir Fried Tang Hoon.
Tasted good & not too salty. Not too dry.

Dish 2: Lala with 'black' bean paste.
This was amazingly good. Licked every single shell off its gravy.

Dish 3: Crabs with salted egg yolk
Big juicy crabs cooked with salted egg yolks. Even just scooping up the egg yolk crumbs & eating it with rice tasted heavenly. Combining both is just a match made in heaven.

Alternate Tong Pak Fu OK Aug 18, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Café | Sweets/Snack | Desserts

My friend asked me out for lunch & she suggested we go Tong Pak Fu at D'Piazza Mall. I was surprised there's one open there. Off we went & upon reaching, the sign was all in chinese. If it was not for her knowing the place, I wouldn't know this is the place. Feels strange. We went in, checked out the menu & the food choices are somewhat similar. I've never been to Tong Pak Fu so I woudn't know how the menu looks like but soon we realised that this was actually another restaurant with the same name. Nevermind, we were hungry and let's give this a try.
They have a set lunch promotion going on with a main course + a drink/dessert.

I took the sweet & sour fish set. Besides the fish, it has some sour/spicy tasting vegetable which I didn't like & a soup. It was corn soup but I didn't have much taste in it. Probably due to it having less taste & also it's cold! They should at least serve it warm. The fish was ok but feels too sweet. I took the option for a dessert which I ordered honey dew sago. This was nice & refreshing with a few honey dew formed into balls.

Smooth chicken rice Smile Aug 18, 2013

Didn't know what to eat so opted for the chickens rice. Amazingly, this was my first time ordering chicken rice at super tanker. The queue was long so I guess it has to be good. After waiting patiently to place my order, the man told me that he would send it to my table. I had initially wanted to wait and collect it there myself to reduce waiting time. It did take quite long to arrive but when it finally did, I knew i made the right choice.

I ordered chicken rice with bbq pork. The serving was huge which justifies the RM6 price tag but still I think it's a bit expensive. The chicken was excellent. The meat was very smooth which indicates that it was not over cooked. The bbq pork was nice too but nothing special about it.

Dinner Time! OK Aug 18, 2013

Mom ordered her favourite loh bak dish. She'll order it if the place we go has a stall selling loh bak. This time, she ordered 4 types of it. I think it was too much as we still have other food.

The loh bak itself was nice & crunchy. Of cource, a loh bak dish is never complete without its signature brown sauce & the chili sauce. For me, I do not take chili so no comments on that sauce. However the brown sauce, could have been much better. It lack of taste. Dipping my loh bak in it seems to only make it covered in sauce without actually giving it much flavour.

Supper Smile Aug 18, 2013   (Related Review)

My friend from KL called me out for late dinner (him only) while it was more like a supper to me. I suggested we go to Pisa Corner Cafe as it has plenty of variety to choose from. We ordered char tang hoon & grilled stingray.

The tang hoon was very nice as it was not too 'wet'. It may be a bit salty for others but I didn't mind it tongue There was a lot of ingredients in it as well. Generous offering of eggs & prawns.

The grilled stingray was good as usual. The sauce laid on top has just the right amount & the meat was cooked to perfection. Enjoyed this 'kau kau'...
