I have always been wanting to come here but never had the time. Finally I decided to come here tonight to celebrate my best friend's birthday which falls the next day, on 10 Sept.

The place looks like a bistro, very lively and crowded even on a Tuesday. The waiter was so friendly and kind and introduced me to the mushroom sauce for my chicken chop. He even told me that if the sauce was too salty for me, he could give me the black pepper sauce for free!

I ordered the famous Chicken Chop (RM 15.90) with mushroom sauce. This is the first time I eat Western food where they provide 2 scoops of mashed potatoes with 2 different sauce! See how amazing this place at an amazingly reasonable price for budget foodies like me. The mushroom pieces can also be seen inside, in big slices.

My friend ordered the famous Pork Rib (RM 28.60) which came with side dishes similar like mine. I am not a fan of pork so I cannot comment much. I felt that the meat is quite ok, not too coarse.

I ordered the Cucumber Lime Juice (RM 4.50) as I love cucumber juice. It came with fresh peppermint leaves and I absolutely love it.

The iced lemon tea (RM 4.90) came in a very big glass, well worth the price.

We are definitely making a comeback here to try the mississipi chicken, duck comfit etc where all the pictures look so inviting.

Strangers at 47 Smile Aug 27, 2014

I was so hungry. I wanted to eat at The Humble Pie whose interview with the founders were aired on BFM 89.90 last few weeks. However, it was closed. So naturally we went to the nearby restaurant, that looks quite special with a unique name called "Strangers at 47". I found out that the restaurant was only 6-weeks-old.

I noticed that the menu was quite limited and consisted of only 3 pages, 1 for savoury crepes, page 2 for sweet crepes and page 3 for beverage.

I ordered the Matcha Latte (RM 10) which was incredible with thick green tea infused inside. The best part if the beautiful heart design on top of the froth which is not normally done for matcha latte.

My friend ordered the Pineapple, Orange Banana Smoothie, in a very small mini bottle (RM 7).

I ordered the Lethal Shrooms (RM 19.50) which was amazing. It has all my favourite mushrooms like shitake, abalone, portobello, baby king oyster mushrooms and also chopped tomatoes and onion salsa and some special type of squashed spinach like that of Popeye's. The crepe is very thin and skilfully made. There is also a bull's eye egg on top with very soft egg white and the runny yoke is so tasty when it leaked on top of the crepe. Totally egg heaven.

My friend ordered Shore to Please savoury crepe which came with a lot of seafood such Cajun-inspired tiger prawns, battered squid, salted egg yolk, spinach, caramelised onions & roasted cherry tomatoes. I find this very delicious. There was some cheese cooked together.

The place is opened by a cute young lady and the cute handsome dessert chef who were both hospitality students. All the waitresses and waiters are students from Taylor's College and HELP College. All of them are so pretty. Their similarity is at the fairness of their skin and their perfect complexion. And most importantly, their passion for food can be felt when we waste the food here.l

Sweet Garden Vegetarian  Smile Aug 18, 2014

I rarely dine at vegetarian restaurants unless one of my companions happen to be vegetarian on that day. Since my friend is Muslim, I decided to eat something halal. He suggested vegetarian.

When I first came here, I fell in love with the old style decoration giving the feeling that one is in a traditional kampung house.

I ordered the Jiang Nan noodles (RM 6.50) thinking it was fried noodles. It turned out that it was deep fried noodles the same sytle like sang mee. It was very crispy and tasty and tasted so good when dipped in the plain non-oily gravy that is not too thick. The vegetables are very raw and one could taste the freshness of the carrots, green peas, mushrooms, cauliflowers and broccolis. The food made me feel healthy and guiltless. I liked the fact that I could see a spot of oil used in cooking this. The best part is that they probably are very skillful in frying the noodles that one could not feel the oil inside.

The warm chrysanthemum is so tasty, not sweet at all, and warm for the soul.

I never thought about this place. Then suddenly mum wanted to eat something other than Japanese food or fine dining. Since we were along Jalan Gasing, this place popped into my mind. Luckily the food did not take long to arrive. In fact, the food arrived in 5 minutes! It was unbelievable.

I ordered the Umbra Juice Mini Jug (RM 10.50) which could accommodate at least 5 pax.

We ordered the Red Seafood Tom Yam at RM 23. It arrived within seconds after we ordered probably because they had a big pot cooked ready and warm. Anyway, no complaints from us as we were ready to dig in. The soup was just nice and as spicy as I liked. I remembered complaining in Chiang Mai last week about how not spicy was the tom yam and the white santan only disgusting green curry chicken which ruined my impression of Thailand.

There are so many ingredients inside the Green Curry Chicken such as eggplants, chicken, chillies and lots of long beans. I really love it because it was just right, not too thick too.

Can you believe it that the tom yam and green curry chicken are way better than the one I had in Chiang Mai? All the seafood used are superb and so fresh and tasty.

The Seafood Otak-otak (RM 18) was not the normal otak-otak with lots of egg. This has a lot of spices, santan, big pieces of fish, prawns and octopus. The otak-otak is similar to the one I had in Kepong. The gravy reminds me of thick wet rendang styled curry.

Our last dish was small Claypot Glass Noodles with prawns (RM 18). Luckily, the glass noodles were not as salty as the one I tried in Raja Uda. This is also less oily. The glass noodles came together with a lot of fresh succulent prawns.

With so many varieties of dishes here, we are definitely making a comeback especially since this cafe is relatively so near to my house.

Frontera Sol of Mexico  Smile Aug 17, 2014

Categories : Mexican | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches

Since dad felt like eating Mexican food today, naturally I would choose one of my favourite places and also where the price is ok and parking is not such a problem like in malls. I have been here long time ago for valentine's day and also dad's birthday previously. Luckily I came here today as I also discovered that Jaya Square is just opened. Not many shops inside but at least one discovery. The best part are the New York-like mobile food trucks at  The Square which I heard are opened every Sunday. So you bet where I will be next Sunday? Hahaha....Anyway, I was intrigued by the Little Fat Duck truck as the name sounds like one I have heard of. Anyway, dad is not a fan of such things so we ended up going to Frontera like my original plan.

I wonder why there is always no one here and we are usually the only one. Mum said probably it is more a bistro for the nights otherwise it would not have stayed open for such a long time, at least 3 years ago on my first Valentine's Day and where I received a free ticket to Avril Lavigne and we accidentally locked my car keys inside the car. But let's not loose focus on the food review.

I ordered the Lamb Enchiladas (RM 32.95) which was grilled lamb wrapped in cheese. There are side dishes of Mexican arroz (rice) and also a very small bit of salad (which is too bad as we like salad) and also baked kidney beans cooked Mexican style.

The Chicken Enchiladas (RM 29.90) was not that bad. I am not a chicken fan so I have not much to comment. There are some onions and lettuce wrapped inside. Rice and beans are the usual side-dish again. I wish I read the menu on this and opt for some other side dish like mashed potato etc as I do not like to eat rice.

The Dory Fish tacos (RM 7.95) was too normal for me. It was just a slab of deep-fried dory fish wrapped in crispy tortilla taco. The sauce was not spicy enough as expected.

I ordered Cranberry Juice (RM 6.95) which is also quite normal and was something like those from the bottle. Dad ordered the lime juice.

But I really like the Mexican music as I like all things in Mexican and Spanish rhythm.

After visiting this place, I started having nostalgia. So perhaps I have to KIV this place in future till one day, a very long time later.
