Mee Sua Tow at Teow Chew Meng Smile Mar 16, 2014

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Noodles

Ever since I was introduced to this incredible place for mee sua, I have never stopped coming here whenever I have mee sua craving.

The place is also air-conditioned so this is good for the hazy heaty days.

I ordered the Seafood and Scallop Mee Sua Tow (RM 12.90) which came served in such a big bowl! The soup was a bit sticky and just marvellous. The seafood such as fish meat, oysters, octopus, prawns, fake crabmeat were fresh and very delicious. The addition of Scallops cost about RM 9 extra.

My friend ordered the spicy Tom Yam Seafood Mee Sua Soup. The tom yam flavour was very strong and very flavoursome indeed that my friend finished every drop of it!

I also drank very refreshing umbra juice, freshly squeezed.

iCook italian gastronomia Smile Mar 16, 2014

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta

Due to the difficulty in finding parking place in 3 Two Square, I rarely come here for lunch on weekdays. Anyway, upon seeing too many new cafes here, I finally decided to pay this place a visit. After all, on weekdays, there are usually cheaper lunch sets.

I saw this place which from the outside, appeared to sell burgers only. So I decided to try the food inside since the price seemed ok.

I ordered the set where any two items cost RM 30 instead of RM 16 for one item. The set came together with the soup of the day which was very thick pumpkin soup with any amount of bread to go with. The soup can be scooped ourselves.

I ordered the penne with a special bolognaise sauce (with sone fancy name) with a lot of tomato-looking sauce with sardin of all things! The sauce, I felt, was something I can cook myself! The penne was cooked al-dente and not too soft like some other Malaysian restaurants and lived up to its italian cuisine style.

I also ordered a Turkey Ham foccaccia sandwich to be takeaway and eaten for dinner since I was having yoga class. There was quite of bit of cheese together too. Too bad that the foccacia sandwich was a bit too soggy for my palate when I reheated it for dinner.

My friend ordered the famous Napoli burger (RM 15.90) containedd grilled chicken meat patty which was so beautifully grilled to perfection that the juice and succulence was maintained. The burger was quite big with some oily wedges together.

We ordered the famous Firenze Coffee (RM 12.90) which was amazing iced coffee with a lot of whipped cream and some coffee powder spread on top. The taste was bittersweet - perfect for coffee lovers.

The Verona Coffee (RM 12.90) came served in a whiter colour and probably did not contain that much coffee taste, hence not very much suitable for my tastebud.

The place also had a tea-time promotion of getting coffee at RM 3 for every cake bought after 2pm.

The ambience is very cosy and quiet hence suitable for business meetings. The music was soft and sentimental and really sets the mood. I am definitely coming back.

They also offer Italian cuisine cooking classes for children and the class is conducted in a room with special see-through glass door.

Shunka Japanese Publika Smile Mar 16, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant

At first, after having afternoon tea at Coffee Stain in Publika, we wanted to go to Silver Spoon for the Squid Ink Spaghetti but unfortunately, they changed their menu. So we went around searching and asked the receptionist if there is anywhere nice she recommends. She said there are 3 new Japanese restaurants : One for BBQ, another two normal ones. Luckily, I chose this place called Shunka which had almost no customer when I entered at 6.30 pm.

The place was so cosy. The ambience was very zen-like with a lot of long wooden tables for patrons to sit on the bench with cushions, looking like real traditional japanese. We chose one of these traditional seating.

The food here is quite reasonable, where the set meals can cost from RM 17.90 ++ up to RM 35 for the unagi set.

We ordered the Kimchi Sukiyaki for about RM 14.90 only. It came served in a cute little hotpot with a small fire, very warm and nice for the throat. It was so tasty that we finished every drop of it. There were a lot of kimchi cabbage, carrots, mushrooms (dry style and also straw mushrooms) and tofu. We ordered one white rice (RM 2) which was really Japanese rice, not those fake ones you eat in some restaurants.

We also ordered two skewers of Yakitori Enoki Bacon and also Bacon with Asparagus. Each came in two skewers and cost only RM 4.90, cheaper than some others that I have tried. The bacon was very succulent and delicious.

The Japanese Okonomoyaki (RM 17.90) with cabbage and supposedly ramen was just so-so and nothing to shout about. Too bad I did not taste the ramen that it was said to have. Anyway, I probably did not really fancy it as I was used to having Unagi/Octopus or seafood okonomoyaki.

The hot green tea cost only a mere RM 2 per glass.

The service was impeccable that every table has a button to call the waiter. The waiter also kept refilling our glasses though we stayed to do some work in the cosy area till 8.30 pm, that meant about 1 hour plus after dinner. So I consider the amount paid for the drink was really worth the money and the service. Every long side table also has a socket, very Starbuck style and very unlike the conventional Japanese restaurants which never have this facility inclusive of a very fast wi-fi unifi connection! So this facility definitely makes this a great place for studying and working in such a zen and relaxing ambience with service at a button's call!

Great Coffee at Coffee Stain Smile Mar 16, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches

The first time I saw this place, it was at night. Today, since I had some studies to do, I decided to go there but just when I wanted to do that, I had a hard time searching for the place. After stopping by at my favourite Gelatomio and having a pistachio and coffee crunch ice-cream, i finally found Coffee Stain which was at the floor above!

The place was so crowded that I was worried I would not find a seat! Thank god we finally found a seat inside the air-conditioned area.

I ordered the Coffee Cubes with Soya Milk (RM 15.90) served separately. The coffee ice cubes were very big and very full of bitter coffee taste! The combination with soyabean milk was amazing. The milk was just nice and not sweet. But the milk was so thick that I thought it was spoilt or stuck inside the bottle so I shooked it till all the milk spilt!

The Dilmah branded Peppermint Tea at RM 10 was not much to shout about as it was just a tea bag and the tea was not strong enough, as characteristic of Dilmah tea. I guess nothing beats Twinnings!

The ambience was not great for chit-chat as the entire place was very nosiy from all the chatter.

I saw a table on my left ordering the 3D artistic iced-coffee with the foam designed into teddy bear or cat faces. The table on my right ordered mocha or cappucino which was served with the top designed with some cartoon face! That is what I call artisan art!

This is my first time staying at Thistle Hotel and I fell in love with the hotel the moment I reached. I love the exterior of the hotel in the shape of a staircase.

Entering into the restaurant for breakfast a fresh feeling. No wonder this restaurant is named Fresh!

I sat facing the glass window so I could have a wondrous view of the exterior.
The best thing is there was raw thinly sliced salmon at the salad table. Since there were a few slices left, i immediately took all of it and ate it with salad and cocktail fruits and vinegar sauce! I also had raw maguro and tuna and mackerel which were all amazing. There was even turkey ham, chicken ham and also beef ham which were amazing.

There were also a whole range of international cheese to choose from which one can spread on the crackers.

The only thing one should avoid is eating the dim sum which is served al fresco as the dim sum is too cold especially the siew mai. It was a waste that it's cold otherwise the mini colourful pao with red bean or pandan filling would have been a waste.

The Loh Mai Kai is the only dim sum which is served very hot. It is wrapped in lotus leaf and was quite ok. Not much ingredients inside though.

The zucchini and cucumber cooked in tomato paste mediterranean cum Italian style was fantastic. I seriously fell in love with this dish that I had a second helping.

The cheesy macaroni was just ok.

There is also a special coffee machine to make any coffee your heart desire, be it, cappucino, machiato, coffee with milk, latte etc. The waiter was so kind that he kept asking me if I needed any help and I had 2 coffee : a chocolate machiato and also a cappucino!

There is a special room just specially for sandwiches, danish pastries, fruits etc. For sandwich-making, one can choose any ingredient, be it chilli tuna flakes, mayo tuna, sardin, or any other items like ham and salad! There is also a very wide variety of danish pastries from chocolate to walnut, apple etc.
