Pari Pari OK May 25, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Stall / Warung | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

I heard that a Japanese bakery has opened in Paradigm Mall, so went to check it out with hubby. Komugi Cafe offers a lot of bakery items, and their shelves are full with products. We took a good few minutes to choose what we wanted, as everything looked so inviting. I ordered a Pari Pari, which is basically a round Japanese biscuit, similar to the one from King's Confectionary. I thought the biscuit was a bit soft, not crunchy like the one from King's, but it was still OK. Sweet and aromatic, it was quite interesting.

Guai Ling Gou OK May 21, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Desserts

I was wondering along SS3 pasar malam when this tiny stall caught my eye. Just a simple yellow rectangular tray filled with ice, and there were round tupperwares containing black herbal jelly, or more commonly known as guai ling gou for sale. I decided to get one and sample, since it was such a hot day. The guai ling gou was not chilled enough, so it was a dampener. The taste is not too sweet, which was good. It has a tinge of herbal flavour. Personally I would prefer the Koong Woh Tong guai ling gou as the herbal taste is much stronger.

The way this dish is served indeed is the signature of Fish & Co. The food is served on a nice pan, which is actually not hot but used as a plate. I ordered the grilled white fish with peri-peri sauce. I was given a choice of 2 side dishes ranging from rice, chips, coleslaw and a few more.

I ordered the rice with grilled vegetables as my sidedish. When the dish arrived, I find that it was the entire dish is quite small, especially the fish. I found that the fish was quite measly as it was thin and not much meat. If it was not for the rice, this dish would not be able to fill me up at all. The peri-peri sauce was not as spicy as I thought it would be which suits my taste. The taste of the fish was actually quite nice, although I would prefer a bigger fish.

Fish & Co. is among one of the many chain restaurants which has invaded our local dining scene with a degree of success. After a gruelling gym session one day, me and my friends thought of coming here to give the outlet here a try. The first dish we ordered was the chicken & mushroom cream spaghetti.

This dish has quite a lot of gravy, in fact it was overfilled compared to the amount of pasta. The pasta was cooked very well, al dente. The chicken and mushroom was sufficient, although I would prefer more chicken than mushroom. The dish was so creamy that at the end of the dish I could barely complete it as it was too heavy.

Spicy Fish Fillet Rice OK May 19, 2013
Categories : Malaysian variety | Café | Noodles | Nasi Lemak

The Spicy Fish Fillet Rice in Old Town White Coffee is just so-so. The rice is as fluffy as ever, and piping hot. The fish fillet is deep fried, very flaky. It was doused in sweet and sour chilli sauce, and served together with some vegetable kerabu. There were also some slices of cucumber, completing the rice set. Priced at RM13.30 a plate, I thought it was a bit too expensive.
