Mango Sticky Rice OK May 31, 2013
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Food court

As I was not feeling very full, I thought of ordering a Mango Sticky Rice to fill up the rest of my stomach. Rama 9 was the only Thai restaurant around, so I thought of giving it a try. It took the chefs quite some time to prepare the dish. I was told that most of the mangoes they had were already rotten and therefore they have to cut open each and every one of them before serving it to me and so I had to stand there to wait for the dish for 15 minutes.
The mango sticky rice actually looks very impressive when served. They also gave a generous amount of evaporated milk to go with the rice and mango. However, I find that the rice was not very nice. It was not very fragrant and as they compact the rice a lot, it was not fluffy and delicious anymore. The mango was not too bad; however it was not sweet enough for my liking although it was very fragrant. For RM6.90, it was not really worth it.

Smokin’ BBQ Beef Burger OK May 31, 2013

Macdonalds recently introduced a new range of burgers in their menu, and so I gave it a try. I ordered their Smokin’ BBQ Beef Burger medium set. As it was lunch time, it only costs RM5.95+. The burger was actually quite a disappointment. The sauce was a little too sweet for my liking and it does not have the oomph smoked bbq taste that I was looking for. The nice addition was their cheese which complements the entire burger as a whole. Generally, just a decent burger and it is not something which I will order again.

Stir Fried Beef Rice OK May 31, 2013   (Related Review)

It was late after another session in the gym, and most of the restaurants are closing except Kung-Fu paradise. And so I went there for a late dinner. I ordered the stir fried beef rice. It comes with slices of stir fried beef, a stalk of siew pak choi and half of a hard boiled ‘lava’ egg. The lava egg was written on their menu which probably meant the ramen type of egg. The egg is supposed to be hard boiled on the outside and slightly runny yolk on the inside. However, when the dish was served, I find that the egg was overcooked which has no difference from a regular hardboiled egg. The stir fried beef was delicious, and when eaten with their white rice, it’s not too bad. The egg is a good addition and the vegetables ensure a balanced healthy meal. A bit pricey for RM14,90, but it is expected.

Spicy Fried Rice OK May 31, 2013   (Related Review)

The spicy fried rice in Pormtip really does live up to its name. Even at the first bite, I was already stunned by the spiciness of the dish. The fried rice is garnished with strips of scrambled eggs at the top. It is also served with some prawn crackers and 2 slices of cucumber and 1 slice of tomato which presumably may help with the spiciness. The dish has a nice flavour and taste to it, but I would certainly enjoy it more if it was not that spicy. It has chicken and mixed vegetables among others in the dish. This dish costs RM8.80.

Pineapple Fried Rice OK May 31, 2013   (Related Review)

The pineapple fried rice in Pormtip is exquisitely served inside of a pineapple which is very pleasing to the eyes. The fried rice is garnished with a nice amount of cashew nuts on top, and the pineapple is filled with fried rice to the brim. The fried rice is quite delicious, as it has a nice wok hei to it, although I find it a little too lacking of pineapple. This dish also has chicken slices and mixed vegetable among others. For RM9.80, it is of decent value.
