Dry Minced Meat Noodle Cry May 18, 2013   (Related Review)

Another dish which I have tried at EAT. is the Dry Minced Meat Noodle.

The restaurant is self serving, so this ensures that waiting time is never too long as the customers have to queue up to make their order and then proceed to collect their food next to the cashier. We could see how the dish was made in front of our eyes.

The noodle in this dish is actually quite springy and cooked quite well. The mushroom served was quite nice and juicy as well. Unfortunately, that is all that is good about this dish. The minced meat lacks flavour and tastes a little stale. The sole fried wantan in the dish does not have much filling and the dish only has a single leaf. It also comes with MSG laden soup.

I don't think I will order this dish anymore.

Chicken Meatballs Cry May 14, 2013   (Related Review)

The final side dish that we ordered is the chicken meatball. We wanted to order their sausage cocktails, but it was finished that day. Therefore, we had to order the meatballs instead.

The meatballs were very disappointing to say the least. It was very similar to what we could purchase from the frozen section in a supermarket. The meatballs were also not very fresh, as it has a rough texture and a very artificial tomato sauce splashed onto it. The tomato sauce was very salty, not nice at all. Worst part was that the middle of a few meatballs were still cold inside.

I will never order this anymore in the future.

Shark's Fin Noodle Cry May 10, 2013

I ordered a bowl of shark's fin noodle when I was at Ming Tien for dinner, as it has been quite some time since I have tried it. Upon ordering I was given a choice on which noodles, ranging from yellow noodle, lou shue fun or cheong sau mee (longevity noodles). I chose the longevity noodles, as it was the most uncommon among the three. The dish took quite some time to arrive, approximately 15 minutes. It arrived piping hot, and I was given a bottle to pour out some vinegar on to a sauce plate.

The noodles were quite well cooked, as its texture was perfect. However, I find that the gravy was not as thick as before. It was diluted and it felt very watered down. There was not much flavour in the gravy. There weren't much taste as well, so I had to pour a huge amount of vinegar for some taste, although it was a little sour. There weren't much meat given in the dish as well, except for a few crab sticks, a few strands of shark's fin and some slices of chicken. I will never order this again.

Sotong Butter Rice Cry May 10, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles

Restaurant Nyuk Min is located at the busy square of SS2, facing the main road. I visited this restaurant on a Saturday, which was not very packed. I ordered the sotong butter rice, and after 15 minutes or so, the dish was served. First thing I noticed about this dish was that the butter gravy was very diluted. Good thing was that there are ample amount to be eaten with their white rice. The sotong was deep fried before hand and then only cooked with the butter gravy. The gravy was not salted very well, although there is a strong flavour of butter and curry leaves. The sotong was not very fresh, as I could taste that it was not very chewy anymore. For RM6.30, it is reasonably priced but I find that it is not very tasty.

Wan Tan Mee Cry May 10, 2013   (Related Review)
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam

The wantan mee at Restaurant Macy consists of some sliced bbq pork, wan tan in soup and a few pieces of vegetables. Unlike most of the other dishes in this restaurant, the wantan mee here is relatively much smaller. The noodle was cooked to a little softer and soggier than what I would prefer. The BBQ pork served in this dish is a little let down as it does not have a decent amount of fat on it, unlike most other cha siew that I am usually accustomed too. The wan tan fillings were quite small. Given the expectations of Ipoh food, this dish was a total let down. I will definitely not order this in the future.
