Fresh steamed fish Cry Jul 23, 2012   (Related Review)

Fresh steamed fish

I'm always a fan of steamed fish, expecially if the fish is really fresh. Unfortunately for this dish, i felt that the fish wasn't really fresh, that it left a slightly bad after taste. The condiments that accompanied this dish however was okay, with lots of ginger and tomyam paste to bring out the flavour. It was unfortunate that the fish wasnt as fresh as i liked it to be.

Sauteed String Beans Cry Jul 17, 2012   (Related Review)

Sauteed String Beans - RM15

I ended the meal with Fong Keow Sauteed String Beans as one of my veggie dish. The way Fong Keow prepared this dish was too simple by just are stir fried the beans with plain garlic. I did not really fancy the string beans this time though. They should add dried shrimp for flavor. As I felt it was a tad too overcooked leaving the string beans feeling soft and mushy.

Sesame Roasted Chicken Noodles - RM 8.90

The Sesame Roasted Chicken Noodles tasted okay, but the noodles wasn't what I expected of a noodle specialist. I thought it would be more springy or at least unique. It was just like any "wan tan" noodle I had outside. Too soft, and not as rubbery as I would like mine. Maybe not rubbery but i like those that has the spring texture.

The Barbecue chicken meat was good though, but yet again we could have that with wan tan noodles which was way better. It did not feel fresh at all. What a let down.

Tubers Beans Kofta Cry Jul 13, 2012   (Related Review)

Tubers Beans Kofta - RM14.90

As for the Tubers Beans Kofta, my initial thoughts were, "Hey, it's a veggie burger!". It's more than that though, as the dish came with two patties of crushed beans, potato and carrot. It was also served with slices of garden greens and onion mushroom sauce. Koftas are mostly what one would call as meatballs. The mushroom sauce made the tubers beans kofta more soft and tasty and complemented the overall taste. I however, would prefer if they had made it a bit more salty, as there weren't enough taste for my tastebud.

Categories : Food court | Dim sum

Mang Chuan Restaurant is located just behind the Wangsa Maju LRT Station and have been my favourite haunt for food at night. I rarely have the opportunity to catch my breakfast there, but recently I took the chance to have something light before my journey back hometown for the Raya holidays.

As there were only the three of us that morning, we just ordered some char siew baos, "bak bao", dim sum and some soupy dish

Personally I did not like the dim sum, the taste just wasn't there, plus the prawns had a bad taste to it. I suspect it wasn't fresh. The Bak Bao was okay though, just a tad too much fats in it. Will I try the dim sum here again Most probably not.
