It wasn't until two or three years ago that cupcakes raved the whole cake universe. The delicate decoration, the utterly sweet icing, and not forgetting, the less than satisfactory cake base. Personally I tried a few, and liked almost none. Cupcake is an overpriced item which I am reluctant to splurge on. It was my first cupcake form Bisou for my birthday and frankly speaking, apart from the super sweet and sourish icing, the cake base was just normal. Without the icing, I wouldn't even bother. In conclusion, this is still not up to my standard of ideal cupcake.

Fried Bitter Gourd : Soggy Cry Jun 26, 2012

Fried Bitter Gourd

Fried Bitter Gourd

When you go to a Chinese restaurant it is very rare that they would fry bitter gourd. As far as I know of, only Indian restaurant does it that way. I like the fried bitter gourd to be crispy and hot on the outside, but soft in the inside. Most importantly the bitter gourd shall not be bitter and flavoured with the right mixture of herbs. This fried bitter gourd was so soggy that I did not feel like eating it after the first bite. Surely it looked like it had been cooked since the morning.

Lychee

Lychee

Well, appearance is capable of cheating you, but flavour is not. This lychee dessert was resembling the lychee dessert you get from the canned lychee, which you can add some water and make the dessert diluted. Texture wise, same as the canned lychee. It was totally not worth the money.

Chicken Teriyakito Onsen Tamago Rice Set

Chicken Teriyakito Onsen Tamago Rice Set

Overall, my comment is "I would not order this if it is ala carte". This is the Monday's RM10 set meal by Pasta Zanmai. Cheap but then it was just so so. The chicken was very smooth and coated with sweet sauce on the slightly roasted skin (but not crispy). The egg was runny enough to blend with the rice or chicken BUT the whole dish was super mild. I would say it tasted dull. I added pepper, and some chili flakes, but it did not help much. The sauce could have been done better, which can probably be sweeter and saltier too?

The free salad was alright. I liked the sesame salad dressing but the choice of vegetables, "Oh well!". The soup was just complimentary (flavoured).
Iced Lemon Tea

Oh, the set came with iced lemon tea too. I liked the fact it wasn't too sweet and tasted more like a real lemon tea. A little diluted though.

Papaya Juice

Papaya Juice

This was the worst juice ever. How can the papaya juice not taste like papaya? It tasted super diluted, as if there was just diluted milk and ice cubes and nothing else. In fact, it resembled carrot juice more than papaya juice. If you want something quenching, please DO NOT order this papaya drink.
