Spanish Affair Smile Jun 02, 2015

El Cerdo has been grabbing headlines ever since it opened its doors.
Taking the theme of Spanish countryside, El Cerdo serves Spanish themed cuisines and the most famous is the roast suckling pig. A 2 week old piglet imported from Europe is marinated and roasted till the skin is golden brown and crispy.

El Cerdo is a very interactive restaurant. All the staff there seek to give the best to customers. Any server can introduce you the house specialty and also assist you in slicing the roast pig. Traditionally in Spain, they use the round side of the plate to slice the pig in three sections. The plate is then smashed to "remove bad luck" and the person who smashes the plate is also allowed to make a wish that is said will come true with this ritual.

If you feel like slicing a piglet with its head still in tact kinda gory and horror, you can always try the Seafood Paella.

El Cerdo is also a great place for birthday celebrations because the staff will give the birthday person a free dessert as well as a piglet keepsake while sigining their signature El Cerdo birthday song

Bijan is the best place for authentic Malay food
Especially if you have friends or relatives visiting Malaysia from overseas, Bijan will give them the best experience of Malay food that we have to offer
This is because the restaurant has dishes from Kelantan, Negri Sembilan and Johor. The Chef has also infused his own touch to the dishes so that it is friendly and not as shocking to those who have yet to try Malay food.

One of the main dishes to try is the Rendang Beef Short Ribs that is a Kelantan recipe
It is made of hearty chunks of beef that is tender and succulent completely covered with a mildly spicy gravy that goes great with steamed white rice.

Another hidden secret is that you must try the Chocolate Durian Cake. It is the best in the world.

The most happening place to be Smile Jun 02, 2015

Signature @ The Roof used to be known as The Hill @ Bukit Damansara. When the land owner wanted to reclaim the land, The Hill management had to move the restaurant to First Avenue, Bandar Utama.
They rebranded as Signature @ The Roof (and in fine print) by The Hill.
The restaurant overlooks the township of Bandar Utama, although not as fancy as Marini's @ 57, the awesome food made up for the lack of scenary.

They also recently participated in Malaysia International Gourmet Festival and won several awards. The dish that won at MIGF and won my heart is the Teriyaki Beef. Why I love it? first reason is because it is an interactive dish. You know how we are complaining that people don't interact over a meal anymore? How children take out their mobile phones and start staring at the screen rather than the person in front of them.

With this dish, you will definitely put your phones away. This is because the beef comes to you marinated but raw. You will be provided with a small clay burner that has red hot charcoal in it. You will have to sear the beef on is small clay burner and cook the beef to your desired taste. And your meal at Signature will not be complete without trying their signature cocktails. A good place to bring the date (if you get my drift)

Best Executive Lunch in Town Smile Jun 02, 2015

Gobo Upstairs is a quaint restaurant in Traders Hotel. It does not get much PR but by word of mouth, it is one of the best places for lunches. If you work around the KLCC area, Gobo Upstairs have a lunch menu that is very value for money.
Why do I say that? Well, the lunch menu comes with free flow of starters and desserts!!
You may find that the main course is rather small but when you indulge on the antipastos and the petite cakes, it is actually a very fullfilling lunch.

One of the main course available for customer selection is the Chicken Coq Au Vin.
The chicken is cooked till tender and falls off the bone. The Chef's special gravy makes a normal chicken dish unique

Another must try main course is the filet mingnon, which is essentially Black Angus.
For such good quality beef, the price for the lunch menu is truly worth while. The filet mingon  is cooked 50% through and it sits on a bed of creamy mashed potato

If you love Penang street food, Champ's have the upper class version of it. At first you will doubt, how can Penang street food taste good at a restaurant, the feel is just different! Well, I assure you that Richard Nah does not compromise in the quality of his food.

You will be blown away with the Pork Noodles with its thick broth and hearty noodles. You will be overjoyed to find bits of deep friend pork oil garnishing the bowl of warm and inviting noodles. Surely you will finish the noodles to the very last drop and it will still keep you asking for more.

Then there is the Char Kuey Teow where people ask why should I pay more for a plate of fried noodles? here's why. The recipe is Champ's own and it is as every bit as flavorful as the best Char Keuy Teow in Penang.

For local Penangnites in Klang Valley, if you miss Penang food you know where to get some now
