If you're a regular at Section 17's wet market area, you will definitely know this place. It's easy to find and a regular spot for folks to dine at this place; that explains the crowd and sharing of tables.

To be honest, I think this place doesn't need much introduction because the food speaks for itself. I would order one of these 3 when I'm there. Char Siew Wan Tan Mee, Wan Tan Mee with braised chicken feet and mushroom(Dong Gu Gai Giok) or the Curry Mee; all from the same stall.

Another favourite spot for my char siew my wan tan mee fix. The egg noodles here are really springy and fragrant. The black sauce also helps with the sweet taste and I feel that they are just that perfect combo for a delicious plate of wan tan mee; or at least how it should be. The char siew here is not really spectacular but definitely way better than Koon Kee's Wan Tan Mee.

The braised chicken feet was really fragrant and savory.. Skin with some crispy texture that peels off easily, bones so tender that it breaks apart in your mouth with little effort. All these goodness glazed over with thick aromatic gravy which made the everything so flavorful.

The curry mee's soup is light while some are those thick creamy ones. And whenever I patronize this place, me and my father in law would bring our own key limes. Although the curry mee is delicious on its own, we like to add a little sour and citric flavor into the mix. Either way, a hearty bowl of curry mee awaits.

The Bee at Jaya One Smile Mar 06, 2012

I heard of The Bee but haven't tried it out myself until last month. I was at Jaya One for personal matters and when lunch time came, we were spoilt for choices as there were so many restaurants and cafes. Me and my wife decided to try out The Bee.

The place feels comfortable, casual and little rustic. I didn't bring my DSLR but my iphone4 is not too bad I guess. It's just a simple lunch but I still think it's worth sharing what me and wifey had.
Hotdog

Hotdog

RM12.50

It's how a proper hotdog should be. Springy and chewy sausage on soft and fragrant hotdog bun. Pretty generous with the sauteed onions and mustard sauce. Lots of fries and better yet, it wasn't overly salty. If you have cravings for hotdog, this would fill in that void perfectly.
Carbonara

Carbonara

RM18.50

Tasted alright but it could be better. The pasta was a little tough even for Al dante. Might be a personal preference but we were hoping to have more gravy but we were more concerned with the pasta's texture. Other than that, it was still enjoyable.

At the time of dining, we didn't know what to order but the food at The Bee are mostly western food I guess. Good place to catch up with friends or even a meal with the family.

I've been passing by this place for more than1 year and finally, me and my in-laws decided to have dinner at this restaurant. It's not that we were ignorant. It's just that we normally have dinner at home or simply have other places to dine. After dining at this restaurant, its safe to say that I have found a hearty place for Bak Kut Teh without having the need to drive all the way to Klang; this restaurant is like 5 minutes walk from my in-law's place.

Firstly, I wanna apologize because I don't know the exact name of the dishes. However, there are pictures of their signature dishes on the restaurant's wall for your reference so I guess it's still okay.

One the signature dish, Sweet and spicy braised siakap fish head(I hope I got the fish type it right)

It was very tasty but be careful of the chili padi though; really spicy. I quite a ricey person so I really enjoyed having this dish with the awesome gravy except that it does gets a little too spicy at some point. Nevertheless, I will recommend this for starters; just watch out for the chilli that's all.

Steamed eggs

Whoa! Please go easy with the light soy sauce. The steamed eggs here is quite decent. Light and smooth texture just like homemade; except for the excessive light soy sauce.

Lady fingers

Again, flooded with light soy sauce(may be some sesame oil?). Not sure if its because of the steaming process, water from the lady fingers made it seemed a lot more. However, I think we would normally add the light soy sauce after steaming right? Anyway, no fuss about it as we didn't scoop up the sauce. I kinda like the lady fingers here because at least there were still some texture in each bite instead of having it all soft and mushy.

Bak Kut Teh with all the good stuff

Taste? Spot on! Absolutely love the light broth of the BKT. The pork were done decently too; full of flavor and tender. The pork's intestines or "spare parts" as some might call, it was good too; no weird or pungent pork odor. Soup refills here were allowed but not sure if its limited to a few bowls but don't let it be a show stopper as the BKT is quite tasty.

Oh La La

The key to a nice lala dish is it's freshness. Spot anything wrong with the dish? GARLIC OVERLOAD! To be honest, I was worried because I thought they wanted to cover up the foul smell or something. I tried my best to taste the lala on its own and it's safe to say that there were indeed fresh.

The aftermath. I also used a lot of mouthwash that night #truestory

If you can read Chinese character, have fun; the damage

The food here is quite decent. As for the BKT, its those light version but the broth was rich in flavor. I did feel a little thirsty after dinner but it was tolerable(or acceptable) compared to some other places. Overall, a family restaurant and better yet, it's near my in-law's place. smile

When it comes to chicken rice, this place is said to be one of the best in PJ(Yeah, you've probably heard of this line one time too many). Personally, apart from chicken rice prepared at home, this place is definitely at the top of the list. Almost everyone would know this place. Situated along Jalan Gasing, it is easy to spot this restaurant. In fact, this restaurant brings back a lot of memories.

Why Its located very near from Church of St. Francis Xavier(SFX) where I used to serve in the music ministry. Be it breakfast, lunch or early dinner, this was the place where me and my friends would dine regularly after music practice or before the church service starts. The food was very good, reasonably priced(I was a college student then) and its near for us to walk from church.

However, with that said, its been a long time since I last had the chicken rice from this restaurant. As I'm staying in Puchong, I don't pass by that area often. Not until a few months back, my wife and I started attending church service at SFX again; previously it was either at Church Of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Puchong or St. Ignatius Church near Kelana Jaya.

Simple yet so flavorful. Just like any other chicken rice restaurant, you may choose which part of the chicken you would like to have. Even after all these years, their consistency is amazing. What you don't see in the picture are also slices of cucumbers below the chicken meat. All in all, a classic chicken rice meal waiting to be enjoyed by many.

Why do I even bother with the chili Its the same everywhere. Not true. The chili here is fresh while some restaurants don't even bother checking if the chilies are still fresh. It has just the right amount of spiciness and yet the flavor balances out with the garlic and other seasoning to seal the deal. If you would like the refill of the chili, just help yourself to the huge container storing it. Just remember to give it a gentle stir as the chili and other ingredients tends to settle at the base of the container.

I think they make their own pork meat ball. Texture wise, fresh and springy and the size of it is pretty big. Best of all, it only cost RM0.50 per meat ball while other places are charging RM1.00 for ONE.

Fresh plate of bean sprouts. Very good serving portion and thankfully, it doesn't have that weird strong aroma which some people may dislike. Nevertheless, these are fresh and crunchy.

Unrelated to chicken rice but I must say, the tea here is freaking tasty! This is not one of those three layer tea. I just ordered "Teh" and this was served. The tea was very fragrant and the sweetness was just right. I didnt even mention kurang manis which means less sweet in the Malay language.

How can I not talk about the rice. Without a doubt, very fragrant but a little mushy. Whatever the case may be, it's still a delicious plate of steamy hot oily rice.

Eating here was nostalgic indeed. I don't know the breakdown price for my meal, but the total was RM21. For me, its still one of the best chicken rice in Klang Valley. Classic coffee shop ambiance with unpretentious chicken rice, just awesome.

Jawa Mee

Jawa Mee

I've been to Restaurant Megah Good Luck at Taman Megah so many times but little did I know that the Jawa Mee and Tomato Kuey Teow over there are very delicious. I was pretty fixated in my decision each time I'm heading there because I kept ordering my favorite roast pork noodle and have been ignoring other stalls around.

Many would order the roast pork noodle but ever since the price hike(Large - RM5.80 from RM5.50), I noticed other patrons trying out different stalls. I will blog about the roast pork noodle in another blog entry.
Jawa Mee

Jawa Mee

I would normally call this mee rebus when I was back in Batu Pahat but over here, its known as Jawa Mee. No matter what the name is, one can easily identify it by its taste. A large order will cost you RM5.00 while the regular one will be RM4.50.

Even before tasting the jawa mee, it was presented beautifully. Squeeze the lime, give it a good mix and you're all set.
Tomato Kuey Teow

Tomato Kuey Teow

Been hearing some friends talking about this Tomato Kuey Teow and based on recommendation, I decided to give it a try as well. If I'm not mistaken, a large order is also RM5.00.
Tomato Kuey Teow

Tomato Kuey Teow

Despite being called Tomato Kuey Teow, there isn't a single slice of tomato in the dish! The secret is the gravy itself. First taste of the kuey teow and gravy did surprise me. It tasted similar to Wat Tan Hor (rice noodle with prawns, fish cake, pork and choy sum douse with thick egg gravy).

I love the kuey teow because it was fried just a little to give it that slight charred aroma. The tomato based gravy does the rest of the magic. Really tasty and not too sour or tomatoey. The prawns weren't very succulent and sweet but it wasn't too bad.

Its behind Fatty Crab Restaurant. Biggest landmark would be Ming Tien Food Court.
