so everyone tell me i should try this Thai Restaurant. i would love to if only it’s situated right in front of USM. the journey there is impossible without personal vehicle. i waited patiently…and then one day the boyf said let’s go to Teluk Kumbar for some Thai food. i beamed! but brushed him off saying ‘haiya so far away, no need la’ i was trying to be a good girlf, you know. as he just drove up from KL earlier the day. but but he insisted so YEAH! we asked JS to come along since he never been there too!
we arrived 8ish and it was full house!

Thai Coconut | RM 4

Thai Coconut | RM 4

ordered coconut to quench our thirsts! berry refreshing…
Mixed Seafood Tom Yam (S) | RM 20

Mixed Seafood Tom Yam (S) | RM 20

how can one not order tom yam in a Thai restaurant? the broth was berry thick and flavorful, spicy and sour enough, to my liking! my threshold for spicy is notoriously high. seafood like prawns, squids, and slices of fish can be found in the broth. the squids however were not fresh at all as they were berry soft and errr slimy.
Kerabu Mango (S) | RM 9

Kerabu Mango (S) | RM 9

sourish mango strips + sweet anchovies + crunchy cashew nuts = great appetizer! even i myself who don’t really likey fried anchovies couldn’t resist this. this dish stimulated our appetites for the following dishes!
Pandan Chicken (S) | RM 10

Pandan Chicken (S) | RM 10

seasoned chicken wrapped in pandan leaves, and deep fried.
Deep Fried Tofu Thai | RM 5

Deep Fried Tofu Thai | RM 5

crispy on the outside, moist and soft in the inside. best eaten with the nutty thai chilli sauce!
Thai Steamed Fish | RM 42.25

Thai Steamed Fish | RM 42.25

we had ang cho fish (in hokkien) drenched in some special sourish gravy. they provide the gravy in another bowl so that you can refill or pour it over your rice (that’s what the boyf did). the fish was berry fresh! and the gravy wasn’t too overpowering.

it’s one of those houses-turned-shophouses. during the day, it looks like an ordinary terrace house, and as the night falls, pork-lovers herd together at the car porch. there’s no signage or whatever, you might overlook this gem. i’ll provide the address below, make sure you have your gps or google maps ready.

Mushroom Soup | RM 3 (ala carte)
served with a crispy garlic wholemeal bread. it’s not your ordinary can food soup, of course. don’t be surprised to feel those tiny bits and occasional huge-yet-bite-sized mushrooms lingering in your mouth, dancing intimately with the tongue, great time i assure you.

again, it’s not your ordinary can food soup, so don’t expect the sodium level will be the same. however, you might wanna dash some pepper in it to give it a lil’ more oomph

Tomato Plum Juice | RM 3.50
a glassful of fibres, 100% tomato blended with sour plum, no additional sugar, water or nonsense. even the boyf loved it! it acts as a appetiser so that our stomach and mind are prepared for the next.

a slice of creamy cheese + homemade pork patty + slices of tomato, lettuce and onions sandwiched between two toasted sesame buns.

i remembered the very first bite was HMMMM followed by a satisfied look. i rushed out and saw homies were having the same expression, we then sang praise to the burger. not too meaty, the flavour is just ngam ngam hou. not too overwhelming nor bland.

black pepper sauce and barbeque sauce are also available with additional of 50 cents while double trouble is priced at RM 8.

Egg Pecah Toast | RM 2
it’s like a slightly runny spicy scrambled egg served with a toast (the scallion atop was removed rightaway after this picha was taken. if you don’t know me, i hate scallion, parsley or similar glass). i thought it’s an innovative way of having toast!

so pork burger, anyone?
