Bak Kut Teh and more... Smile Jun 09, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Bak Kut Teh

I never knew what the name of the "restaurant" by the street was until I googled, and it is none other that the famous "Ah Wang Bak Kut Teh".

Their bak kut teh is just nice, not too overpowering herbal taste, and the soup is tasty too. Definitely nice no matter which part of the pork you choose, whether pork ribs, fillet or "3-layer-meat". Each portion of meat is RM10, the normal market price. It comes with the fillers such as "fu zuk" and tauhu slices too.

Their "yaw mak" vege is nice too, served with crunchy fried garlic and just the right amount of sauce.

Sawi's portion was tad bit small (both were medium). Wine chicken was normal, not fantastic.

A special mention is the famed steamed fish head, priced at RM26/RM28 depending on size. All the food came quickly, including the fish, so it was slightly uncooked inside. When we mentioned it to the server he brought us another candle to keep the fire going, but unfortunately it did not serve its purpose. Nontheless, the fish was average.

A noisy place that is always, always full. At peak hours, its not uncommon to see people standing behind some tables, hoping to book the places of the people they see (or hope) are leaving.

Pizza Cone Who says they don't go together Since Cone Pizza was being advertized for some time, I finally decided to give it a try. The idea, afterall was fresh - Pizza , in a cone! How cute!
Clean and quiet

Clean and quiet

This place is supposed to feature authentic Italian cuisine. Starting with the Interior's design. The interior was neat, warm, cozy, and the place was clean(the toilet was too). This I find is very important; afterall, can you truly enjoy your food in a stinky environment The music played was calm and relaxing, oldies. A nice place for a chat or family dinners.
6 inch cone pizzas

6 inch cone pizzas

So I took 3 tall cone pizza's. there are 2 types - the tall and "mini" ones. the tall ones are 6 inches, which the mini one's are 4 inch. the tall one ranged from RM10.90-12.90,while mini cone pizzas were RM6.90. They have some set meals and promotions, such as get 4 mini cone pizza's for RM20, but that is up to individual preference, no smile
Pasta-Pizza

Pasta-Pizza

"Breakdown" of the pizza. This was the cheesy carbonara like pizza. It tasted as delicious as a good pasta should be, with the thin pizza cone serving as an extra chewy bite. Lovely smile

Would I go back I think so. Afterall, this place does offer a variety of cone pizzas, pastas, drinks etc. And it has a good ambiance, a nice place to rewind after a long day.

So a friend and I went to Swiss Garden Flavor's Restaurant for buffet lunch (they called it Hi-Tea to celebrate our January birthdays lol And may we say, we weren't dissapointed.
Nice Ambiance

Nice Ambiance

The interior upon arrival. Lighting was nice, deco was classy, awesome ambiance. Bustling with people.
Appetizers and waffles

Appetizers and waffles

Started by taking appetizers and waffles with honey, my all time favourite. Appetizer section is well stocked. the beef salad was gooooood X) The appetizer corner, where the choices were abundant, with fresh leaves, salads etc left me impressed. There was even a cheese counter with a few variants of cheese for our hi-tea! smile
Waffle station!! :)

Waffle station!! :)

They had a dedicated waffle corner smile The choices of jams and honey + maple syrup made me a happy girl tongue
Rushed at it since I'm a sucker for waffles + honey lol lol lol
Fresh Oysters!

Fresh Oysters!

Having gone for a few hi-tea buffets now, I can say this is one of the better ones. (see the osyters! smile )there were fresh oysters and prawns. I was there for close to 2 hrs and they had refilled at least twice (although people took it just as fast!)
Rows of tempting deserts...

Rows of tempting deserts...

The dessert corner was honestly the most well stocked of the place, with generous varieties of puddings, cakes, fruits etc. Most were good, one should save space for some delightful desert and the end.
Colourful desert!

Colourful desert!

Colourful palate of desserts! lol
My plate of desserts. tried mixed berries, christmas cake, puddings, custard creams etc. A new experience for sure smile

Notice that I din't talk much bout main course There were 3 counters like the above 1, serving Malay dishes, Western dishes and Chinese dishes each. Food was fair (well it is a high tea not "lunch" per say), the roast beef was AWESOME. I think the specialty here is beef la lol
Dim sum and noodles counter

Dim sum and noodles counter

Dimsum and noodles station was also another station featured outside the restaurant, with tomyum and soup noodles, and various paos and dimsums serving outside, constantly manned by 2 chefs.

In IOI Boulevard there are many sorts of entertainment and food and beverages outlets. Honestly, Puchong is filled with food lol

One day, I was craving for Ochado and decided to just try it out.

They recommended their passion fruit tea with jelly and cendol at the bottom, priced at around RM6.90 for the large cup which was reasonable. The passion tea was nice, a change from the usual milk tea. There were 2 limes in there too, a true fusion drink! I really enjoyed the jelly and the cendol, which I felt gave me something to chew. Its sweeter and definitely more tasty than pearls!

Just like home Smile Aug 17, 2012

Yesterday, my friend introduced me to this place opposite University Hospital, called Rumahku Gallery and Cafe. I never knew this place even existed!

Its actually a house (a huge one) converted into a "restaurant". It's homey, and you really get that feeling you're dining at home.

Chicken briyani was so good! The chicken inside was tender and juicy, and the rice was not stale, which is really important. The papadam on the top was lovely, I wish I could have an extra piece. Heh.

The mutton briyani was awesome too. It was not too spicy, and as you can see, the portion was huge! I could not finish my rice. The dhal at the side did help to give taste to the slightly hard rice, and the cucumber was nicely done, and went well with my mutton briyani.

Overall, a great meal at a homey place. Would I recommend it? Definitely.
