Sate , the Malaysian Delight Smile Jun 17, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Malay | Restaurant | Halal | BBQ

I'm sure Hj Samuri is famous KL wide, and I'm here to attest to it lol

The sate is juicy and well cooked. There are a variety - chicken, beef, lamb, venison too! My personal favourite is the lamb. Tender, sweet, tasty. Followed by the venison sate. Its counted per stick (price depending on the meat) but what can I say? Its awesome!

The place is huge enough to accomodate many many people. Parking is, if I'm not mistaken, a little of a headache. We parked slightly further away from the area. Service is...A tad slow, but acceptable.

The accompanying sauce and the crunchy vegetables. Its supposed to "Clean" the stomach after eating the bbq-ed sates.

Kajang's famous for sate's , and I totally can see why. smile

Awesome Asam Laksa Smile Jun 10, 2012

1 Thing about Malaysia is the food. You have a variety. If I get bored of chinese, I can go for Indian Cusine. If not , there are many others, such as Malay, Japanese, even Korean, BBQ Etc...

Jusco Mid Valley has this place(I think on 3rd floor) which is the space set aside for food. The Asam laksa here is lovely, with just the right amount of curry, ingredients and chillis.

I even saw bags and bags of curry laksa prepared well in advance O.o. Thats how popular their asam laksa is lol

Marco's Pizza, Kelana Jaya OK Jan 29, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta

Marco's Pizza is a homely restaurant situated opposite the Kelana Jaya LRT station. Its usually pretty empty during the day and weekdays, but weekends and nights see more patronage.

The ambiance is pretty nice, where you can sit comfortably with many sofa and cushions for you to hold (nice....), and staff are attentive to all your needs. Even the toilet is clean.

During a trip there, my family and I ordered 2 pizzas, which came with a 1.5l bottle of soft drink.

Smoked salmon pizza, thin crusted. For someone who loves pizza, somehow I find the taste a little strange. Definitely not comparable to pizza hut, to say the least.

2 different flavours of pizza on each side. One is the Marco's signature with turkey and chicken ham pieces etc, and the other side is the hawaii pizza, your classic pizza. Slightly better tasting, I reckon. Not bad, but still, not comparable to your average "fast food" outlets pizza hut and dominos.

Perhaps I'm not so much a fan of thin crusts, but to their credit, the pizzas were filling enough, and not stingy of toppings. The average price of a pizza there is RM28, and most are around RM26-RM30.

Later, we tried their bread pudding, which looked gorgeous. The taste was nice as well, creamy and melted in your mouth. Just be warned that the price is high too, around RM12 including tax for that small piece of bread pudding.

In conclusion, the place was not too bad, although the pricing is slightly up market. HOWEVER, my family and I had a shock when we came out into our car after eating. Driving for less than a block made us realise that someone had let out the air from our car front tyre (it was beside the highway, but was dark and secluded), and the guys proceeded to change the tyre. Almost immediately, a suspicious looking man with a pouch containing tools approached and asked if we needed help. We suspect he did it to earn a quick buck. Hence, my advice is be careful. Do park at a bright spot, preferably right outside the shop where the lighting is bright.

Recommended Dish(es):  bread pudding

Spending per head: Approximately RM20(晚餐)

Buffet @ The Sultani OK Jun 17, 2012
Categories : Indian | Hotel Dining | Steaks / Chops

The sultani is located inside Flamingo Hotel, Ampang, and a beautifully decorated place that overlooks a calm river/ sea (I'm not sure tongue ). For a romantic setting, this is one of the go-to places. (Come at night, the view is breath taking)

They have their daily buffets. Their food has an assortment of appetizers, meats and even their desserts.

Their briyani is very tasty, and I would recommend their lamb, which is awesome lol

Try their "Gulab Jamoon", for those of you who are sweet tooths, and you'll come back for more. lol

The exterior is beautiful - I think it recently went through a facelift or something. Environment is warm and cozy. The interior was well designed, Chinese lanterns and lightings, ambiance was good.

Some food ratings:

Mixed Roll Delite
Rating: 3/5, Original price RM18.90
A high class (read: more expensive) version of your street popiah. Ingredients were ok, but doesn't give you the refreshing taste your hawker side noodle gives you.

Vietnamese Beef Noodles
Rating: 3/5, Original price RM15.90
The special guest had this since we were taking the dry stuff. He said it was ok. . .Although I have to admit that I had tasted a better version at Pho Hoa @ Curve, Damansara Utama. This just din't impress me.

Grilled prawn with imperial roll noodles
Rating: 3.5/5, Original price RM17.90
Somewhat traditional Vietnamese Vermicelli with prawns and spring roll, which my bro and I took. Again, I feel that the Viet Vermicelli @ Pho Hoa is better. The sauce they provided there was refreshing, while there was no sauce here apart from sour chilli paste. Portion of ingredients were fair.

Jasmine and strawberry tea
Rating: 3/5, Price: RM6.90
My dad found it weird, while I find it mediocre. Strange tasting, not bitter but nothing exotic as well.verdict: try at own risk

Overall the experience was a normal one, nothing impressive. I'll probably not come back again since I can get the same stuff at a fraction of the price.

Overall ratings:
Food: 3/5, again, nothing to shout about. Wouldn't highly recommend it.
Ambiance: 4/5 - The ambience was pretty high class, no dirty cushions etc
Service: 4/5, no complains, though a tad slow at times
Price: 3/5 (Based on the deal price), Din't feel like the food was amazing.

Date of Visit: Nov 23, 2011

Spending per head: Approximately RM20(晚餐)
