Lousy Brunch! Cry Feb 03, 2013
Categories : Western variety | Sweets/Snack | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

The quality of this branch is nothing like that of Empire Subang! In addition, my brunch time was not very pleasant. Unbelievable..2 staffs quarreling while the supervisor/manager just stared at them..."Whats your problem?? Why you always make life difficult for me?"

Utterly embarrassing!

Will I go back again?? NO
Verdict: 3/10
Taste: 3/10 Crusts were crispy but the pastries as a whole was dry! Hardly any filling!

Taste: 3/10 One poorly brewed cuppa. Expresson taste burnt & milk was scorching hot.

My usual would be cabonara penne & quattro formaggi pizza @ Prego...well some of their best! This time round, on the eve of a public holiday, had Seafood in Lobster Bisque Soup, Medley of Grilled Seafood with Spicy Tomato & Pumpkin Ravioli with Truffle Oil & Butter. Forgot to mention, their complimentary loaf is always superb especially eaten with fruity olive oil & balsamic vinegar! As for dessert, had 3 versions of tiramisu: Wild berry, White chocolate & Butterscotch. All them for 2 pax. BURP!!!

Will I go back again?? DEFINITELY
Verdict: 8/10

Taste: 7/10 Was a little under seasoned and soup could have more texture. Crustini was a bit hard and dry but seafood freshness was decent.

Total Disappointment! Cry Jan 29, 2013
Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Seafood

The Royale Bintang Hotel is never known for serving decent food..leave alone good. My previous experience was attricious and supposed to be 'My First & My Last'. However, I stumbled upon dis fairly new restaurant few weeks back but did not have the opportunity to try cos they had issues with their kitchen facility.

So I was back at The Curve for work and decided to give it a go cos they serve Thai..was craving for it. After I sat meself down, only I realised it was operated by Boustead group (owner of Royale Bintang). It was almost 3pm and I was dead hungry so just ordered me food.

My tom yum vermicelli was served within 10 minutes and despite only 2 other small tables were occupied, it took them another 15 minutes to plate up the mango salad. Appalling! To date, I have never been so disappointed with a Thai meal. By no means of comparing cuisine types...Pappa Rich serves better food anytime!

Will I go back again?? NEVER (NOT even it is a free meal)
Verdict: 2.5/10
Taste: 3/10. Supposedly seafood but only had several rubbery squid rings. Lacks fragramce and heat..kaffir lime leaves over-powered the aromatics. It was more like a sweet and sour broth.

Taste: 2/10. The dressing was very poor..could only taste the lime juice. There were 5 halves of burnt cashew nuts...utterly meager and shameful. Mango was a little too ripe.

Ramen Lunch Smile Jan 27, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Seafood | Ramen/Udon/Soba

Their menu has been revised. It is slightly smaller now & food quality has improved. Their ramen comes in 3 types of broth: normal, shoyu & miso. All broths have medium body and not too viscous (compared to that of Menya Musashi)..one could eat quite a bit. They no longer serve pan-fried gyoza sad Overall, food was tasty and drinks were decent. Not a top notch ramen place but one restaurant that my friends and I would go to in Paradigm Mall.

Will I go back again?? YES
Verdict: 7/10
Taste: 7/10. A standard Chinese rice bowl size; suitable for lunch and or small eater.

Taste: 7/10. Meet was tender and well infused but slightly under seasoned. The yolk could be more runny for a soft-boiled egg. They could use baby romaine instead for more crunch.

Taste: 7/10. Lots of texture and the bean paste-based dressing was an interesting contrast to the raw vegetable. Again, the yolk could be more runny for a soft-boiled egg.

Meeting Over Dinner @ Bonjour KD Smile Jan 26, 2013

After changing hand and or chefs, the food quality has drastically improved. I had chicken ceasar salad & seafood soup. My ratings were:

Chicken ceasar: 6/10
Seafood soup: 7/10

The chicken breast strips ware a tad bit dry but the greens were very fresh and crisp. However, it didn't taste quite like a real ceasar because plenty of mayonnaise was used and there was neither taste of anchovies and cheese. As for the soup, I am quite impressed actually. Fish, muscles, squid and shrimps were well portioned in a tomato-based broth. The down side..it was over-seasoned with salt and the crustini was kinda hard.

Ambience was pleasant & comfy.

Will I go back again?? YES
Verdict: 7/10
